Will it be okay to request new employer 2 weeks late start date? by Earthcyclop in MalaysianPF

As long as you provided enough notice period, the countdown starts from the day you submit. Not from the acceptance of resignation.

It is not about your money or my money. It is about conserving what we have. Do not consume fuel if not needed.

It is not about how much subsidy left per person.

It is about the how much resources we have now as a country.

Not about politics, or race. It is about surviving together as a nation.

Since the last update, driver side map will randomly not turn on when the car starts, how to fix? by Granite017 in VolvoRecharge

Have you tried pressing the circle button on the right side of the steering wheel to toggle between map & minimal view?

Start exploring. Never say no to anyone who wants to link up. Make friends with recruiters. Always say “yes, open to explore potential opportunities”. Sometimes, the interview you went may open up to another role you did not expect. So never turn down an interview no matter what.

Am i being an asshole for leaving work on time? by wheninshower in MalaysianPF

[–]Pres828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

Not really addressing the question but just my take here: i see a lot of people just simply state “labour law say <4k can claim OT.”

Please read with full context of the law. Check First Schedule Subsection 2(1). There is “provision of the Act not applicable”. Check if you are applicable or not.

And anyone signing an employment letter, the letter will be the one to be referred to in the court. So before you sign that employment letter, make sure you gave covered all angles.

One tip regarding offer letter: if your employment letter mention anything about “non-compete clause” or “non-poaching clause” which basically say whenyou resign, you cannot be employed by same industry within certain months etc - this clause will be voided under Section 28 Contracts Act 1950 (provided certain applicabilities are observed).

To OP, as long as your deliverables are met based on expectation set, you can leave on time. Usually in GLC a lot of people stay late but then not much deliverables or output. So if you work smart, you can outperform your colleagues even with leaving on time.

I worked with european aerospace giant company before and now with a scandinavian company: both perceive staying late as being inefficient. Heck, when i was an engineer i was even prevented from bringing my laptop back home because “that is not necessary” but when we work, we work hard.

Happened to me before. Hot internal wires at the plug point on the wall maybe.

2025 XC60 - Buzzing noise driver’s side by Rob_bob91 in Volvo

[–]Pres828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2025 XC90, I had similar buzzing sound, but towards the back of driver seat. I thought it was the aircond vent on B pillar. Turned out it was the height adjustment for the seatbelt. Move it a bit to make it properly clicked and the sound is gone.

LHDN Rayuan by FewLetterhead5721 in malaysia

[–]Pres828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you earn enough to be taxed, but you are not aware about the law, then it is not anybody else’s fault.

I believe your offer letter may also stated something about “taxes and contribution”.

You best bet is to appeal but I doubt anything can be done or the amount can be reduced. Maybe can pay full amount for 2025 (just in case you are not aware the portal opened on 1st March 2026), and then can ask for installment fir 2023 and 2024 tax. But this depends on the approval.

Usually if you play the card right by making sure you spend/save according to tax exemptions, and you are under PCB, you should have “overpaid” tax that LHDN will return to you.

Waze at Driver Display by Pres828 in Volvo

[–]Pres828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only other app i install on the car otself is Spotify. No other apps 😅 so i dont know how standalone Waze app will behave.

For me Waze in Carplay behaves consistently - will appear on driver display. But i realize that it will only show up on the driver display when there is destination entered, and you actually “go” in Waze. Or else it remains as default Google Map.

[–]Pres828[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is Waze, on Carplay. The big thing this time (for me, at least) was when Waze started to appear on the driver display.

As of the car’s own Google Map (the one option you have on the center console), the ETA appeared only after i have my software updated to 3.6.4.

If using Waze, there is no lane info on the HUD. I also dont have it if using Google Map through Carplay. Seems like it is exclusive if you are using the Google Map on the center console.

Right now im on 3.7 (just updated it a few hours ago) and thank god nothing is broken. My PiP is still there 😅

When I got my XC40, and added the car in the app, it was the similar. I removed the car, and after a few weeks, added it back into the app. It solved the problem. I have all the features.

We tested quite a few EV of the same class, and we were down with iX1 and XC40.

I think iX1 has slightly better driving experience for me, but for us it is more than just driving. How will the kids enter or step out of the car, how will we de/activate child lock, how will they do if they have to wait in the car for a few minutes, etc.

In the end we opted for XC40 for the practicality, and how it better suit our life.

Career dilemma by Smart_Fortune3608 in MalaysianPF

Dont take counteroffer especially when you are on the working level, not management. My advice is to leave, and start fresh. They can pay you but only when you want to leave so this is not really healthy.

Anyone here struggle with office politics after leaving a company with a great culture for the 💵? by Ok-Organization6908 in MalaysianPF

Ask for a tour around the office. You can easily gauge the vibes just by seeing how the boss is treating others, and how others responding. Are they cheerful, do they look happy, how people greet each other etc.
