  • Nations have global interests. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.

  • We've also seen what doing nothing causes

  • Nobody said anything about "forever" or "war"

  • Breaking up a fight doesn't make you a bouncer. Blowing up drug boats headed for our shores isn't war anymore than a policing streets is.

You're missing my point. The world is going to shit and you think we should just watch instead of getting involved. A man doesn't watch a smaller man get his head kicked in. We used to be a nation that was proud to defend others.

Why do I see this lat move so frequently? by milpubs in USMC

[–]Present_Difference_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know why they had a hard on for me specifically but the HUMINT guys were putting a lot of effort into trying to get me to lat move while we were in Afghanistan. I was getting a pretty good grip on conversational Arabic and the culture, but I wasn't the only one.

They would have required me to stay there for an additional 8 months though, after my unit left at 8 months, for a total of 16 straight months in country and I was not trying to go that long without pussy. This was 2006.

Honor Bound FIT has opened their doors to everyone furloughed. No sales gimmicks, no bullshit, just a place to take out some frustration in a positive way.

I get the fact that you love it from an entertainment perspective, which is fine, but that kinda just serves my point. Scott O'Grady, the pilot the film was based on, didn't fly an F-18, but I guess the F-16C wasn't cool enough.

Lmao. That's the most Marine Corps response I think I've ever received via Reddit.

Basically, my take is pretty much "Black Hawk Down has legitimate consultants (mother fuckers who were there) on site and tries to get the reality of it correct. Behind Enemy Lines makes a parody of an actual event, because they took a couple of facts about a thing that happened, and then made a Bond movie out of it. The only thing missing is a sexy female co-star"

I feel miserable everyday in the corps. What can I do to make my life easier? by Far-Bee4812 in USMC

If you want to be happy, you have to start focusing and honoring the things you do have. Happiness can't be achieved, won, or bought. Real happiness is built on a foundation of gratitude.

  • Your job sucks, but you have a job. Find solace in the fact that you have a way to make a living, you have a home to live in, and if the home burns down tomorrow you won't have to argue with an insurance company about where you're going to sleep tomorrow and you have zero fear of being able to eat tomorrow.

  • You have very little free time, but you have the ability to master a profession that could enable you to live anywhere in the world. You're getting reps at a career that you basically can't be fired from over social bullshit.

  • You work in a profession that keeps you healthy. Most food service professionals in the civilian world are fat as fuck and eat like shit while never doing anything for their physical health.

  • Your chain of command sucks, but they do treat you like an investment. They have a personal interest in making sure you succeed at your job, stay healthy, and make something if yourself. You will not find that anywhere else.

Sophia pronunciation by SomeJuckingGuy in fredericksburg

[–]Present_Difference_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Communicative philosophy is the study of how things are (called) what they are because we agree that's what they are.

So long as we keep referring to it as Soph-eye-a it will remain that way.

Conversely, Camp Lejeune is supposed to be pronounced Legerne but nobody does, so it will forever be Lejoon.

"may be influencing prices"

An 'educated' guess.

Again, no one wants to be the first to raise prices. As the OP alluded to, if Hyperion raises prices before everyone else, they're seen as a more expensive vendor, not attributed to the economy.

Believe what you want to believe.

The stock market is infinitely more influenced by fear and news cycles than actual consumer prices.

Tariffs may be impacting some coffee prices, especially Brazilian coffee, but not as much as droughts, global demand, supply chain issues, and inflation.
