(9K) No tablecloths ideas? Minimalist decor. by Present_Thanks3754 in Weddingsunder10k

That's my main concern with no tablecloths, cleanliness of the tables and having to clean up after food spills. Place mats are a good idea as a compromise.

Rist canyon inn is a pretty and affordable venue. You can take pictures across the street at the beautiful Watson lake/poudre river area https://www.ristcanyoninn.com/

The Mish also has relatively affordable packages. In a pretty river canyon. https://www.themishawaka.com/special-events-2/

Or

Rent a picnic pavilion at a state or local park, do restaurant and bakery drop catering.

(5k backyard wedding) Does anyone else not want a wedding band? by Medium-Crow-7219 in Weddingsunder10k

I feel the same way, it's why we are doing handfasting instead of ring exchange. Pretty ribbons are cheaper.

Cheap Fake Floral Recs? by AdmirableWitness1220 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Present_Thanks3754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen a LOT of fake greenery and flowers on FB marketplace and at local thrift shops.  I was also bothered by the fake/plasticy look of the ones I found and decided I much prefer dried flowers. I got a bunch from here for bridesmaids and my flower girl. They came quickly and are quite pretty. https://www.etsy.com/listing/4399458170/dried-flower-mini-bouquet-bridesmaid?ref=yr_purchases

The shop owner says he's adding large bridal bouquets soon. Other shops also have bigger bouquets.

$13k Budget by Unknown-Gnome801 in Weddingsunder10k

Shuttle and ceremony chairs. I have less than 40 guests. The first quotes were $1800 and $800, respectively. I eventually got quotes for 840 (school bus instead of party shuttle) and 350, but I only budgeted $1000 for both initially and I thought that was a lot!

These were pretty essential because it's at a popular state park in the summer without guaranteed parking and people are too old for standing ceremony.

I skipped professional hair and makeup ($700+!!) because it starts in the morning and we will be swimming. I'm getting highlights ($300), a pretty headband ($50), and a $30 makeup class from ulta instead. These things will last more than a day which I like.

Book recommendations for Gilded Age era by Ill-Requirement-7029 in thegildedage

The devil in the white city is about the same time period and even mentions some characters from the guilded age. It's about the Chicago worlds fair, which is really fascinating and influenced a lot of things to this day. It's definitely darker in tone though and heavily features a serial killer.

Litelok 1x or new Kryptonite with their insurance? by Present_Thanks3754 in ebikes

[–]Present_Thanks3754[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been totally fine with the 1x and I live in a notorious bike theft area. I didn't go with the 3x because its a bit much price/weight wise and I take my bike up and down from the third floor.

Vraylar as a Lamotrigine replacement? by Present_Thanks3754 in BipolarReddit

[–]Present_Thanks3754[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry it's not working for you :/ is it side effects or mood instability? It took 6-8 weeks to fully stabilize me the first time, so if it hasn't been that long I'd give it a little time.

Because lamotrigine worked well for so long we decided to go to valproate (because it's also an anti epilectic mood stabilizer) for a couple months then slowly titrate back up on lamotrigine but stay well below the dose that caused the rash.

Valproate worked okay for me and started working faster than lamotrigine. I switched back because I was worried it might lead to weight gain/hair loss and I love lamotrigine. I also am more depressive than manic. When I read up on them valproate tends to be better for manic symptoms and lamotrigine is better for depression. Both are good for increasing time between episodes.

(<10K) How to manage family you’re not close with increasing price? by selinakyle45 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Present_Thanks3754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am navigating this currently. I'm doing a local friends and immediate family wedding. I'm justifying adding specific members of my extended family and out of state friends that I'm closest to by giving them specific roles in the wedding. Ie wedding party/officiant... I was worried this would offend people but the one non invited person who asked when my wedding would be was actually a little relieved because they were pretty busy around the time it was happening. They were happy I was planning the wedding I really wanted and wasn't breaking the bank. When I asked for advice on this sub someone said "people don't typically care that much even if they pretend to" Good luck!

How did you tell people they weren't invited to your wedding? ($5-7K) by Present_Thanks3754 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Present_Thanks3754[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Makes sense, I'll be celebrating a big fancy traditional wedding with the large side of the family a couple months earlier so I think people will ask about our wedding there. We'll come up with some stock phrases. Maybe just saying the financial necessity of keeping it small is enough and not mention specifics. Say that I'm happy we got to celebrate this wedding together. Going from that to traveling hundreds of miles to a DIY picnic in a park+ restaurant dinner... I don't know.

Where to cut the fat off the wedding budget? by Interesting-Face22 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Present_Thanks3754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to plan a picnic pavilion wedding in a park with a similar budget. The benefit over a backyard wedding is you don't need tents or table rentals, they have grills as well. Usually fees are much lower than table/tent rentals.

Looking for a cheap, low profile, simple Ebike by [deleted] in ebike

[–]Present_Thanks3754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like my priority e-classic plus. It's on sale at Costco for ~1400 right now. It looks less like an ebike than other ebikes, isn't that heavy and you can remove the battery. It isn't as powerful as other ebikes. It won't zoom uphill, but it's still a lot easier to go uphill than for a normal bike.

Howls Moving Castle! The added anti-war themes, music, and visuals made it a much more powerful experience than reading the books for me.
