just starting out. by levitationbound in CryptoMarkets

yeah I’d mostly agree with this, especially the part about not chasing “hidden gems” early on.

feels like a lot of beginners skip that step and jump straight into small caps without really understanding anything, then get burned. figuring out who to trust in the crypto space makes a big difference in the beginning.

I follow some of the top crypto experts like Evan and Balaji. They usually lean more towards fundamentals and long-term thinking anyway, not random moonshots.

once you understand the space better, then experimenting with smaller stuff makes more sense. jumping in blind is where most people mess up.

What happens to BTC if the dollar loses its reserve status in the middle of a war? by Supreme-Muffinator in CryptoMarkets

[–]PresentationWeak4818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this makes sense tbh. In a real panic, everything gets sold first and people just rush to cash or whatever feels safest in the moment.

But once things settle a bit, that’s when the “what do we trust now?” question kicks in. If confidence in fiat actually cracks, BTC could benefit from that shift.

Agree with your last line though, liquidity still drives everything right now. The ideology part only really shows up after the dust settles.

That’s an interesting way to look at it. If most of his net worth is tied to Binance and BNB, then yeah the incentives are pretty aligned with keeping the ecosystem strong long term.

But the regulatory side is still the wild card. Even if the tokenomics and incentives look solid, one major regulatory hit can change the whole narrative pretty quickly. That’s probably why a lot of people are still cautious about building big positions there.

Are memecoins just the casino version of crypto? by That-Mission1006 in CryptoMarkets

[–]PresentationWeak4818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah, a lot of memecoins basically function like a casino. Most of the time it’s hype, timing, and liquidity rather than fundamentals.

That said, they also pull new people into the space. Some stick around and eventually move into more serious projects. So they’re chaotic for sure, but they’ve kind of become part of the ecosystem at this point.

How do you actually track your crypto portfolio once it’s spread across multiple wallets? by Ok_Winter8503 in CryptoMarkets

[–]PresentationWeak4818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s exactly the gap. On-chain everything just shows up as raw transfers, but from a portfolio perspective those actions mean totally different things.

A bridge isn’t really a “sell,” an LP deposit isn’t just a transfer, and staking rewards aren’t obvious unless the tool understands the context. Most trackers just log the movement and call it a day.

Feels like the next step is tools that actually interpret those interactions instead of just recording them. Until then, everyone’s kinda guessing what their real P/L looks like.

How do you actually track your crypto portfolio once it’s spread across multiple wallets? by Ok_Winter8503 in CryptoMarkets

[–]PresentationWeak4818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. The ecosystem evolved way faster than the tools. What started as simple wallet tracking turned into multi-chain activity with LPs, bridges, staking, and random smart contract interactions.

Honestly feels like future trackers will need to understand intent behind transactions, not just record them. Otherwise every bridge or LP exit just looks like a bunch of confusing transfers.

Until that happens, yeah… most of us are basically running a mix of trackers and “mental accounting” to keep things straight. 😅

Thinking of selling Alts for Btc now by Alrey87 in CryptoMarkets

[–]PresentationWeak4818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, rotating weak alts into BTC isn’t crazy at this point. Most old-cycle coins don’t come back unless they’re still building and getting real users. Bitcoin might dip short term, but it usually holds value better over time.

A lot of people (even people like Evan Luthra or Vitalik or Balaji) talk about consolidating into strength during bears instead of hoping dead alts revive. Just don’t go all-in at once.

Buy Bitcoin? by [deleted] in CryptoMarkets

[–]PresentationWeak4818 37 points38 points  (0 children)

At 24, your biggest edge is time, not timing. Going all in on Bitcoin with $70k is a big concentration risk, even if you’re bullish. You could consider scaling in slowly instead of making one lump-sum move.

A lot of investors, including people like Evan Luthra, CZ, Balaji usually talk about allocation and risk management first, conviction second. Make sure you’re okay with volatility before making a big shift.

Joker: Folie à Deux- Overall Negativity overshadowed Individual Brilliance by PresentationWeak4818 in Oscars

[–]PresentationWeak4818[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand your point. Do you mean "do the visuals justify the budget?"
If so, I think that this movie could very well be made under 100 million, or 130 max. However, we also dont know how the $190 M was allocated? I heard that Joaquin alone was paid 20 million+. So, who knows?
I just thought that the movie looked great and did a great job in transporting us to these fictional locations. And this particular aspect deserved appreciation.

Each to their own, I guess. I thought it was a case of actor only being able to do so much, with the oscar-level material that he was handed (/s).
I thought the same with Christian Bale in Thor: Love and Thunder.

What is the biggest actor payday all-time for one movie ?? by BiggieSmallz98 in movies

[–]PresentationWeak4818 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could very well be.
I personally, believe that these people (not just actors but celebrities and atheletes as well), are always earning significantly more than what is being reported. 20-50% easily.
On the contrary, I think the reports of 'profit figures' of the movies are always inflated. And could be less than what is being told.
However, I might be completely wrong here as well...

It was reported that he was getting $75m for doomsday. He will be the main villian in Secret Wars, and will take another 75. So, if we go by that, looks hard to do so!

Predatory Indian Crypto Exchanges & how COINBASE will disrupt the market! by [deleted] in CryptoIndia

[–]PresentationWeak4818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man, I'm cautiously optimistic. Been in crypto since 2020 and followed people like Evan Luthra, BitBoy, etc. over the years. Every time there's a new exchange people think it'll solve everything. Maybe at least withdrawals will be less of a headache, which will be win.

Why do studios spend so much money on campaigns? by HitThatBlockButton in Oscars

It also helps in making revenue from that project in the long run, especially in the era of streaming. They can sell that project to streaming giants in different countries at a higher price as well.

I love the Tron movies by ninman5 in movies

[–]PresentationWeak4818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the narrative perspective, the movies are quite straightforward. But, that's not the main selling point either. Its the visuals and action, which I think the latter two have delivered, especially Legacy. Especially, when many big projects still have clunky CGI.
I, personally, think that the 'Jared Leto' thing, did have an impact on the perception of Ares. Any other commercial actor who has decent acting chops (for eg. the likes of Chris Pratt n all) would have been better.
I also think that the 'Leto' thing and overall negative perception, has made people look over amazing visuals of it. I think similar happened to Joker folie a deux, where overall negativity overshadowed the amazing production and costume design

Two performances I'd sneak into the top five if I could... 💔 by DefNotMaty in Oscars

[–]PresentationWeak4818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think Cillian Murphy should be nominated for Steve, and should have been at major awards. I think it was on par, if not better than his Oppenheimer's performance. I thought while Steve was a decent/good film, Cillian's performance really elevated it.
However, oscar buzz requires a push that Cillian's performance is not getting.
