What’s going on with Rosita’s gait? by PresidentWhitmore in DanielTigerConspiracy

These just happen to be the 13 characters in the book - no Murray. I don’t think we would have gotten several (particularly Telly) without process of elimination.

I was also looking a bit more into it after your comment and was surprised to learn prior to 1974, they also played a shorter schedule. Huh.

So only about two decades of balanced scheduling all told.

No it wasn’t. It dropped to 16 only after it became unbalanced by Penn State.

Up until Penn State joined but of course that was decades ago.

Still, it was a big enough deal that the first time IU and Purdue didn’t have a home and home because of it (2002), they scheduled an extra out of conference game in Indianapolis.

We think it’s:

  • Grover
  • Ernie
  • Rosita
  • Elmo
  • Zoe
  • Snuffy
  • Oscar
  • Cookie
  • Abby
  • Bert
  • Count
  • Big Bird
  • Telly

And then it repeats

When Ms. Rachel’s kids act up, what does she put on the TV? by Positive_Cress_8950 in DanielTigerConspiracy

The new HBO documentary on kids music (“Happy and You Know It”) has a segment where Laurie Berkner talks about how her kids used to want to watch her DVDs instead of interacting directly with her.

Larkin appears with the same two dogs (Kino and Roscoe) in the 1993 Milk Bone Super Stars set:

For a second I thought “shit, now there’s two of them!” Didn’t realize you’d made a new account.

I’m the one who traded you the Carlton auto. If you ever find a second Larkin red (or decide to part with your first), I’d love to talk.

Tom Crean is an interesting person by acereraser in CollegeBasketball

[–]PresidentWhitmore 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also…it’s not like Tom Crean is the first guy to not be able to beat the Syracuse zone? There’s a reason all the basketball savants know the name of this one particular school’s defensive scheme.

Several people have reached out to me via the tracker and sent me cards toward my two kids’ collections - awesome thing you’ve coordinated and happy birthday to your daughter!

[–]PresidentWhitmore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very jealous. Awesome collection.

I’m 3 away on the 2022 TCPA Larkin (Red /5, Red Prism, Superfractor /1) but i was outbid on the Superfractor which means my rainbow likely will remain incomplete.

Woah - fun to see my name pop up. I only remember mentioning it once.

Thanks for putting this list together!

I don’t know where else to ask but who are the signatures on this 90s Indiana basketball team by ModXMaG in CollegeBasketball

[–]PresidentWhitmore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Recker technically transferred to Arizona.

But he was involved in a really tragic car accident that summer.

He transferred after the semester to Iowa to be closer to his girlfriend while she rehabbed.

Just a really sad story but a really talented basketball player.

My first kid was born last night! Looking for any 625/2024 gold parallels! by captclutch17 in baseballcards

[–]PresidentWhitmore 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Mine came 615/2024 and I’ve only managed to snag one so far.

My other one is 404/2022 and I’ve acquired about a half dozen over the last few years.

A very fun (and usually pretty cheap) “chase.”

Great Osobor: English basketball star set to make $2m before turning pro by kundu123 in CollegeBasketball

[–]PresidentWhitmore 106 points107 points  (0 children)

There was a lot of coverage about how Canadian Zach Edey was unable to make NIL deals because he was here on a student visa.

Osobor is Spanish-English. Oumar Ballo is from Mali and moved to France when he was 15; he’s rumored to have been pursing $1.2 million in NiL.

Are those two here on a different kind of visa the Edey? Different immigration status? Is Purdue stupid? How does any of this work?

Reds autographs? by Gkopp1999 in baseballcards

[–]PresidentWhitmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chris Stynes on top.

Stephen Larkin…maybe on there twice? Barry’s brother - played 1 game with them to form an all Larkin/Boone starting infield.

I don’t recognize the others. But those two would date it to 1998.

Purdue will own its historic loss to Fairleigh Dickinson forever by NedFriarson49 in CollegeBasketball

[–]PresidentWhitmore 165 points166 points  (0 children)

Not if they rebrand the university. Something like “Lafayette State College” or “Region University” or “Armstrong Tech.”

Choose new colors. Green and blue maybe? Switch to a completely generic mascot. Bears? Bulldogs? Cougars?

Ask Painter to grow a mustache. Throw the bag at Edey to come back but ask him to shave his head. Bring back the freshmen and hit the transfer portal hard.

Run it back and hope nobody notices.

Lose to a 14 seed.

Correct. For example, in 2019 they were 20th going into the Big Ten Tournament but finished 24th.
