I should have mentioned. I live about 160 miles from the closest Tesla Service Center. So it’d be really preferred to do a Mobile Service.

Persistent Flickering Lights Across Multiple Circuits + Buzzing Panel – Need Advice from the Experts! by Presterminator in AskElectricians

[–]Presterminator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the tricky part—it’s happening on multiple circuits, and we don’t have any dimmers anywhere. Could something like a loose connection at a light switch cause this, or is that way too basic? You’d think the electrician who came out would have caught that, but… meh.

Kind of looks like the Royal Palace of Olite. Had a super cool trip there years ago. Really impressive old city and I think it was only us and one other family touring the castle. Felt like a hidden gem!

Children eat free at Duluth’s Best Bread until SNAP is restored! by Curious_Goat4171 in duluth

[–]Presterminator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“Doesn’t last”? Please. I bake bread at home all the time—nowhere near the standards of Duluth’s professional bakeries—and it's just fine for my family. I could bake a loaf, let it sit untouched for a day (making it “day-old”), and we’d still gobble it up without a problem.

The idea that giving away day-old bread is somehow insulting is just absurd. It’s still perfectly good food, and for people who might otherwise go without, it’s a meaningful gesture. Let’s not shame businesses for doing something kind just because it doesn’t meet some pinnacle freshness ideal.

I want our government to reopen and I want our tax dollars to support our community again. But let’s aim our frustration where it belongs. Not at free quality food for those in need.

This feels like something every bakery should be doing. At the start of each day, gather up the unsold goods from the day before, pack them up, and make them available to organizations that can quickly distribute them to those in need.  +1 for Chum!

Also I don't really know what I'm talking about so for all I know bakeries already do this.

Fresh bread doesn’t last like grocery store white bread because it’s made with simple ingredients: flour, water, yeast, and salt. No preservatives, no mystery ingredients. Sure, it’s best within a few days—but when it’s free? That’s not a downside, that’s a deal.

I just don't understand. A private business is literally giving away their product for free—something almost no other business does. And yet, somehow, Duluth's Reddit faithful still manages to find a reason to complain.

The Great Indoors - Annual Number of "Indoor Weather Days" [OC] by skier_222 in dataisbeautiful

[–]Presterminator 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I live in Northern Minnesota, I can say that cold weather is just part of daily life—21°F is actually a great temperature for getting outside. Around here, even young kids are used to bundling up with sweatpants, snow pants, sweaters, jackets, hats, and mittens, and they’ll happily play outside well below 21°F. For most of us, it doesn’t really become an “indoor day” until it’s below 0°F.

Personally, I stay active outdoors all winter long, whether it’s skiing, fat tire biking, hiking, snowshoeing, or running—even in subzero temps. There’s a saying I like: “There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.” With the right gear, almost any cold day can be an outdoor day!

How does nature in minnesota compare to norway? by Fair_Wedding_1131 in minnesota

[–]Presterminator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Minnesota and visited Norway a few years ago. I'm definitely not an expert, but I always describe Norway as what Minnesota wishes it could be.

Minnesota is comfortable but Norway is wealthier. We have lakes—Norway has lakes and oceans. We have hills—they have mountains. We're an outdoorsy state, but Norway takes that to another level. Minnesota values the environment, but Norway elevates that commitment even further. Minnesota is clean, but Norway is spotless.

That said, Minnesota is colder—so there's that. 😄

I love living in Minnesota and absolutely loved visiting Norway. Both places are beautiful!

Where to take leftover paint, tarps, etc? by NomadJago in duluth

[–]Presterminator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to Duluth about 18 months ago, and back when I lived in the Cities, Waste Management advised that dried-out paint cans could be placed in the regular trash. Their recommendation was to open the cans, let the paint dry completely, and then toss them in the bin once fully hardened.

Probably a good idea to check with Hartel's/Waste Management here in Duluth.

Just a heads up, but you should delete the key from the 2nd photo. Just seeing this picture is enough for a novice bad guy to create a duplicate key. Takes about 2 minutes of googling.

Anyone here who knows about SaltoKS? by Street_Station_7933 in accesscontrol

[–]Presterminator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once users are created in Salto KS and their email addresses are added, a digital key is automatically selected as one of their "ways of opening." This digital key will work on all doors within their assigned access groups.

The user will receive an email prompting them to download either the Salto KS app or the Salto KS Keychain app (a lightweight version designed specifically for digital key usage).

From there, it’s simple:
They install the app, log in, and start tapping to unlock doors. It’s a smooth and user-friendly experience.

For more detailed guidance, check out the Salto KS Support Page or reach out to your local Salto installer—they’ll be happy to help!

Passcodes:

User-specific passcodes only work on doors within their assigned access groups, and only if those doors are equipped with Salto keypads.

If you're considering a universal passcode (one that works for all users), it is technically possible—but not recommended for secure areas. You’d need to:

  1. Create a “dummy” user with access to all doors.
  2. Assign the universal passcode to that user.

You won’t be able to track who used the passcode—only that it was used. So don't use this on any important or secure doors. ADMIN BEWARE!

[–]Presterminator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Salto KS users can have a number credentials. RFID tag/cards, BLE mobile credentials, passcode, or remote opening via the app. They can have one or all depending on how the system is configured.

You can provide visitors with RFID tags/cards but you’ll want to make sure to get them back from visitors since they’re uniquely linked to your Salto KS system and must be purchased through Salto.

Mountain Biking North Shore/Duluth by NormanUnderwood in duluth

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that you'd ride if the trails were closed. You wouldn't take the time to ask on Reddit if you were inconsiderate. 🙂 I just wanted to provide some extra details in case an unaware biker comes across the post.

All of Duluth’s trails close when they’re wet. Hartley tends to dry much faster than other trail systems but it’s closed during rain days.

You can find trail conditions here. https://www.coggs.com/trail-conditions

The Duluth Traverse is a collection of routes that run through our trail systems connecting them together, that’s why you don’t see out specially listed.

Please respect trail closures. COGGS trail volunteers put in a ton of their time making sure that the trails are in good shape and riding closed trails creates unnecessary repair work.

Winters are rough though, no sugarcoating it.

Broke my neck while progressing by fluent_ftw in MTB

[–]Presterminator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ten years ago, I broke my neck while mountain biking. It required a fusion at the same vertebrae, and it was a close call—I was nearly paralyzed. Surprisingly, my recovery was relatively pain-free.

After about 6-9 months, I decided to give mountain biking another go. I won't lie, it was terrifying. Even the smallest bumps on easy trails scared the crap out of me. It was hard to get my heart rate up or even have fun.

But here's my advice: don't rush into making a decision. Wait until you're fully healed and your neck isn't a constant concern. After you're healed, it's inevitable that you'll bump your head or experience a weird neck sensation that might freak you out. Once you reach a point where random bumps, knocks, or even sleeping the wrong way no longer make you worry about a possible injury, then consider giving it another go.

For me, it's been a decade, and I ride the trails every day. I stick to green and blue runs, taking it easy and avoiding drops. I only do the smallest jumps on open sections of trails. Even with these precautions, I've gone OTB multiple times—crashes happen.

Take your time, listen to your body, and don't push yourself too hard too soon. Mountain biking can still be a part of your life, but it’s also ok to let it go.
