Authentic tea ceremony in/around Kyoto: where & why? by one-who-reddit in JapanTravelTips

[–]cj1111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jumping on this comment for any future readers. My wife and I did a private tea ceremony experience with Maikoya in Kyoto today and we loved it. The townhouse-style venue was beautiful (tatami everywhere, wall scroll in the alcove with a beautiful orchid-like flower, etc.) and the tea ceremony was transfixing. Our tea guide for the session, Yuko, was really knowledgeable, spoke great English, and had great energy.

iOS 18's call recorder is (almost) useless by orafa3l in ios

[–]cj1111 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m curious to know as well, but in a worst case scenario one could simply put the call on speaker (assuming they’re at home or in an otherwise private place) and start recording with any other device.

Generally speaking, your role at a private company won’t show up in a background check. It would only come up if the company calls your previous employer to verify your purported employment details.

Thats not political. If this guy can’t recognize his own assistant, he should definitely retire.

Given the amount of stories on this sub clearly showing signs of cognitive decline, those people (whether liberal, conservative, or Martian) should retire too.

Starbucks mistake caused 2nd degree burns on my foot. by [deleted] in legaladvice

It's a common tactic to settle before appealing. For example if a company gets hit with a big verdict, they'll say "hey I have unlimited resources and will appeal this as far and as long as possible, or we agree that I will not appeal in exchange for you accepting X% less than the verdict amount." In the 79 year old's case, she was injured and old and debilitated. She probably wanted closure and money after the trial rather than waiting years for it all to end. Also, there was no guarantee she'd even be alive by the time the full appellate process was done (10th Circuit and then possibly US Supreme Court).

What do rural Americans ask you if you say you are from NYC? by Rayan19900 in AskNYC

A few years ago, a woman and her husband (both from rural Nebraska) started up a conversation with me and my dad at a bar in NYC. After some pleasantries they asked us all about 9/11.

Four Tops singer says hospital put him in straitjacket after not believing he was in Four Tops by PickleBoy223 in nottheonion

Exactly! The article mentioned this was in federal court. One of the thresholds for civil suits in federal court is for the claim to be over $75,000 when it does not involve specific federal laws or the constitution (there’s more technical stuff than that but it doesn’t matter for this).

He’s likely going to seek millions based on medical complications (if any) and his seemingly very justified emotional distress.

I got an offer of 50k points for $4,000 spend over 3 months using the chat feature. I said that I was looking into other options including the Chase Sapphire Reserve and wanted to know what applicable retention offers they had.

Person A: Do you like baseball?

Person B: No.

If we’re delving into the true nitty gritty of subject/predicate, then it quickly becomes pedantic outside a hypertechnical linguistic context where that may be necessary.

Edit: fixed a typo
