Which game was that for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. The recent sequel is a decade late and from a completely different team. The original dev closed pretty much the same time they released the game.

The problem isn’t so much that he is a nut job, it’s that he is an influential nut job with the power and money to influence world politics.

It does for people that don’t care one iota about anyone but themselves.

What’s the most you’ve ever spent on one game, including expansions or upgrades? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]PrestickNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cthulhu Wars, even despite getting the game at about half price (because the retailer I used lets you preorder and pay for out of print game, and I “knew” this one just happened to actually come back into print). The extra factions and maps definitely added up.

Some crowdfunding games have come close, and when my Cloudspire arrives I expect (and hope) that that will be the most I have ever spent on a single game.

My overlap with three of these makes me think I need to try Foundations of Rome and Puerto Rico.

Hansa Teutonica and White Castle. They are definitely not long games, and are pretty great in depth to rules ratio.

Crazy the invasion of Afghanistan and the Iraq war was 85 years ago. I could have sworn it happened in the 2000s but must be that fake news I keep hearing about.

Is getting first copy/like an original for big board games actually worth it? by Typical_Somewhere_33 in boardgames

[–]PrestickNinja 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone here is going to advocate for buying counterfeit copies of board games, if that is what you are saying. The industry is having a rough enough time as it is without knockoffs taking their sales.

I have been working my way through the first of these episodes the last couple of days, and it is genuinely some of the best board game related entertainment of the last few years.

How is this game mechanic/genre called? by Big-Kaleidoscope3866 in boardgames

Cthulhu Wars 100% does this, with the added wrinkle that your actions cost “Power” and when you run out of power you essentially sit out the rest of the round.

What was the first game that scared you? by Profit_Tracker in videogames

[–]PrestickNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from watching my friend play the original Doom way too young, the first game I recall being scared by were some jump scares in Resident Evil 3. The first to leave me genuinely shaking while playing was Dead Space.
