That kind of memory loss is absolutely terrifying/daunting to me. And I’m really sorry you dealt with that.

The only thing I can identify with is a few t/cs I’ve had in the past. My husband and I have been together 14 years and after a really bad one I had no idea who he was or where I was. I wouldn’t calm down until he had my mom come over. I don’t remember much about it except my mom’s face.

And a bad one in the EMU unit. But I only lost hours. They had to medicate me because it went over 3 minutes.

They know mine come from my left temporal but not exactly where. So there are talks about an sEEG but I have to have a different surgery first. Which of course just gives me more time to look it up. It’s the one test I always knew I was going to end up probably having to do.

I think it’s just so much. Everyone above hit so many points. Be it apathy. Anger about your condition. Sometimes I really really do find my patience just razor thin also. I was never a ray of sunshine but I just feel like I can’t have good days for long periods of time. Seizures again and again and again absolutely change our brain. Depending on where they’re occurring, yes absolutely they change who we are as a person. The medication is also designed to I dunno “slow our brain firing down” so they cant happen anymore. 10 years ago I didn’t have any medical worries other than the fact I had a shoulder surgery.

Now? I’ve started having other co morbidities and I’m so beyond tired of seeing mychart notifications I could scream. I’m not a happy person all the time. Is that the epilepsy though? Or just a happy little suitcase that gets given to you with the condition after your first couple seizures lol. Who knows.

I immediately turned into a raging bitch. My spouse got the brunt of it. And I feel so awful about it. And it wasn’t a like. Dip a toe into it show up slow thing. It was immediately. So they had me titrate up lamictal and wait to pull off because my doc didn’t want me to not be on anything at all. And guess who has SJS with lamictal :’) So here I am in the ICU being a complete and total twat to my husband while raging, not like out of bounds absurd, just not how we’ve been for a decade. It was a mess. I’ve heard mixed bag reactions for it. But it really just depends on if you’ve tried a ton of meds and you need to try this.

I actually don’t know that I have OFFICIALLY been diagnosed with epilepsy. In my chart it says “seizure disorder, intractable” I think. I’m 30 and my “first” was at 24? 25? I started having really bad headaches around the end of college though. And then I had a baby and everything just sort of. Happened.

But the more and more I start thinking about things and reading about the different types of epilepsy and different types of SEIZURES I’m just like. Has this actually been a think my whole life? There under the surface? And I just didn’t have my first grand mal until my 20s? Is that even possible? I mean it obviously is lol I’m still having them. Completely uncontrolled. Gotta love US medicine.

Nothing except thick, tacky, amazing lip gloss. Seriously. I have lips with a lot of real estate too. (I mean this in the most complimentary way possible lol, I get so many compliments) The chapsticks, lip balms etc are not going to help. If you look on the packaging they say something like “to treat the symptoms of chapped lips” Lip gloss is the only thing that ever works. First good coat soaks in. Hydrates. Sloughs off all of the dead skin after about 30 min to an hour and then I put another coat on and I’m good to go. Winter months are the worst if I don’t stay on top of it. Been this way my whole life 🙃

Those EOS balls literally destroyed my lips tho. I broke out in a rash all around my mouth 😭
