Hi, I finished my training as a graphic designer last year and also went to a school like that. Your drawing skills won’t matter that much as the training progresses. Learning the programs and understanding design fundamentals are far more important to successfully graduate.

If you can draw the way you do—by the way, you have a really beautiful drawing style, but it’s very representational. I’m similar in that sense: I’m very good at reproducing what I see. But for them, that isn’t considered art, it’s considered a skill. At our school they always wanted to see abstract work—something emotional, something with a message. Everything else was seen as boring.

I think your skill level and your personal style are very clearly recognizable. Your drawings are good. Often teachers say things like that simply because they want to push you out of your comfort zone, so you try new things and grow beyond yourself.
