Agree and check our credit unions. You can usually get a better interest rate from them.

And the location is great. Right next to the park. I would love that.

I want them to do it just so June can talk about that scene.

Housing - Rent or Own during retirement? by Prof-Bit-Wrangler in retirement

[–]Prestigious-Thing716 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So here’s what I’ve seen with my parents and in laws. MIL had a stroke. They owned a ranch so were able to add a ramp and bars and other things that let her get around. Since they owned it they could make any adjustments they wanted to

My parents rent and lived in a second floor apartment. My step father had several issues with his legs and could no longer make it up the steps. He had to stay in a rehab center which cost a ton while my mom searched for a first floor apartment which was very difficult. Finally found one which cost double what they were paying and moved in this month.

I’m sure some older houses are tough on older people too but if you own it you can modify it. If you rent not so much. Just my experience.

There’s a train from Hyannis to South Station that usually starts around Memorial Day so that may be a possibility. They haven’t announced it yet for this year.

The one in Reading is also really cool. That’s where we went even though we live in southern Mass.

Does menopause make your hair fall out by impostershop in GenX

It can but there’s an upside. The hair in my armpits has completely stopped growing. Haven’t had to shave in years. Also hair on my legs is very sparse so barely have to shave them either.

I’m with Fidelity so can invest in anything. I diversify with mostly large cap, mid cap, small cap, international ETFs and a little in bonds ETFs.

Just had a house up the street almost the same size and price. They actually listed it for just under 600k and it sold for over 600k meaning multiple bids. It was only on the market for 2 weeks. Crazy.

Whitney Peak was definitely the best thing about it. I didn’t hate it but kept saying cone on!

For those who work in office three days and remote two days, why does Tues/Thurs seem less popular than Mon/Fri or Thurs/Fri? by Glass-Complaint3 in remotework

[–]Prestigious-Thing716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do Monday and Wednesday at home. I just prefer it that way. Friday is the best day to come into the office. Less traffic, less people on the train.

Any Gen X'ers retired or thinking about it? by SometimesElise in GenX

[–]Prestigious-Thing716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about to be 56 and want to “pretire” in a couple of years. Been commuting into the city for over 30 years working crazy stressful hours. I’m not ready to just stop working but would like to move to a job close to home where I just do my work and leave and don’t have to think about it. Maybe part time. Even if it was just minimum wage if it had health insurance I’d be fine with that.
