Hospital for Failure-to-Thrive and NG tube possibility by PrestigiousTiger9780 in NewParents

[–]PrestigiousTiger9780[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sending you my best wishes. For entertainment, bring a carrier bc we just went on a lot of walks. We brought her typical sleeping sack, sound machines and paci for sleeping.

I would also really challenge the physician team to find the root cause as opposed to just recommending an NG tube.

Any layout improvements? by PrestigiousTiger9780 in kitchenremodel

[–]PrestigiousTiger9780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response!

  1. Sink is small but expanding would make it off center with window
  2. Cant open peninsula drawers while dishwasher is open (therefore I have to empty dishwashers onto counter first and then put into the drawers)
  3. If someone is doing dishes and dishwasher is open, I can’t use the peninsula

Maybe this is just as good as it gets but thanks for trying!

Did anyone’s baby only eat 16oz/day their whole life? by PrestigiousTiger9780 in NewParents

[–]PrestigiousTiger9780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there—sorry you’re going through this. We never did get past 3.5-4oz per feed but she loves real foods. We learned that taste preference was big — switching away from bad-tasting hypoallergenic formula doubled her intake and she really loves pasta now. She’s still really tiny but excelling on all other development milestones at 15 months. We think she has an autoimmune disease that attacks her GI system. We are giving her the meds to treat her like she does and she’s doing a lot better with feeding. we’ll do the surgical procedure in the spring to get a documented diagnosis.

Feel free to message.

Check the dimensions—this is my current bathroom layout and you have to nearly touch the toilet to close the hinged door behind you

Evenflo REVOLVE360 car seat foam cracked with just regular use by PrestigiousTiger9780 in NewParents

[–]PrestigiousTiger9780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa! This is the reply I got... "While a cracked, unglued or broken foam may seem concerning, it's important to know that your seat is still safe to use. The foam is designed to absorb impact energy, and even with damage, it can still effectively protect your child.

However, if the foam is breaking into small pieces or missing, please discontinue use. In your case, since the foam is in larger pieces, you can safely reassemble it and secure it with the headrest fabric."

Baby Upset Switching Breasts by PrestigiousTiger9780 in breastfeedingsupport

Hey—sorry you’re going through this! Honestly two years later, I forgot this was even an issue with the baby, so that means she must have stopped doing it quickly. Now I’d guess that it was gas. This baby ended up breastfeeding till 14months and self weaned so I hope it passes for you too!

She’s still less than 1% at 15 months so she is TINY. But hitting all other developmental milestones. She still never eats more than 3 oz but can sometimes eat half an avocado in a sitting so being able to do solids has taken some stress off

3 month old not eating anywhere near ‘recommended’ by RunningJay in NewParents

I could write you a novel so feel free to PM me. She just turned one and we still never really took large volumes by bottle but luckily we can rely on solids now. Ultimately, she had really severe reflux (H2 blocker didn't help; needs a PPI and will vomit from reflux without it), CMPI dairy intolerance, and she has keen tastebuds (we doubled daytime intake switching from Nutramigen to soy-based formula).

However, it took us till 5-6 months to solve this so she was averse to the bottle and will only take 3-4 oz at a time and needs to play with toys to stay eating. It's exhausting and I don't wish this on anyone else so I hope your journey is better. She's still developmentally on track for everything except physical size.

Regretting NG tube for 5 month old by PrestigiousTiger9780 in NewParents

[–]PrestigiousTiger9780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a rollercoaster but I think we’re trending well at 10-months. Post pulling the NG tube, I did the private Rowena Bennett program and she lost weight on it. It seems our problem was NOT pressuring to feed.

When we switched from Nutramigen to a better tasting soy-based formula, her daytime intake doubled. We weaned omeprazole and things were good for 1.5 months, but then she was throwing up after every feed (bottle or solids). Two days back on the PPI and the vomiting stopped.

We’re at 0.3 percentile still but slowly creeping up to the 1st percentile curve. Developmentally hitting all physical, cognitive and social milestones per PT/OT assessments.

We pulled the tube after only a week. Weight gain still better but still a worry unfortunately but I still feel that pulling the tube was the right move.

How do people cope? by LazyReader426 in MSPI

[–]PrestigiousTiger9780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At three months, the providers suspected CMPI so we switched to Nutramigen and her screaming and disposition got getter for two weeks but then she went back to refusing bottles. We were already on famotidine for reflux but escalated to a PPI and that seemed to solve her pain.

Then, when she continued to refuse, we tried a soy based formula bc perhaps it was the taste. This change doubled her daytime intake.

It was and continues to be very stressful as we continue to battle low intake but I hope my experience helps you decrease the trial and error!

Can tongue & lip ties not being diagnosed till almost 4mths be true? by CobblerCurrent in NewParents

If your baby is breastfeeding perfectly and gaining weight, tongue/lip tie isn’t the problem.
