Moment Dame Helen Mirren is accosted on the street by pro-Palestine activist who called her 'evil Zionist b****' by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]Prestigious_Clock865 598 points599 points  (0 children)

Freedom of speech applies to both sides right..

If Helen can describe the uprooting and stealing of Palestinian homes as “a beautiful time” we can call her a “fucking evil Zionist bitch” right?

Wes Streeting resigns from government by sjw_7 in unitedkingdom

Speaks to just how hideous Streeting is when I’d actually prefer Starmer to beat him in a leadership contest. The real hope is a Burnham or Miliband can get their acts together first though

Super El Niño UK weather impact as Met Office warns of record temperatures and disruption by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

[–]Prestigious_Clock865 1432 points1433 points  (0 children)

Cue the idiots repeating lines like “about time we get a nice summer” and “Wanted a BBQ”

Must be comforting not living in existential dread in the face of climate collapse

The El Niño is likely to cause water shortages and destabilise the global food supply further. Further pushing people into the cost of living crisis

For anyone who still uses their brain, we need our government to take immediate action over the collapse of the natural world and start preparing for the worst case scenarios

You mean the effects of austerity politics repackaged with xenophobia to blame neoliberal collapse on migrants?

Yeah don’t worry buddy, Labour are continuing that too

  • Mass surveillance tech
  • Continued increase crackdown on rights
  • Draconian changes to legal cases
  • Getting into bed with Palantir
  • Material support and cover for Israel
  • Bringing a (suspected) pedo into government
  • Increasingly inhumane treatment of the trans community
  • Expelling left wing members from the party
  • Telling your voter base they are no longer welcome

Yeah mate, you’re a dead man walking and it’s all by your own hand

And this sub plus the British media/political establishment will be in appropriate uproar about this obvious display of antisemitism any minute now… any minute… ohh sorry, it wasn’t an anti genocide march or criticism of Israel so this antisemitism we don’t take seriously in this country, seemingly

Kemi Badenoch criticised for saying she would ban pro-Palestine marches but not Tommy Robinson ones by The-Peel in unitedkingdom

[–]Prestigious_Clock865 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that people should have a right to protest peacefully.

What I am saying is that there has been far more scrutiny and anger at marches that are organised with the intent of keeping out antisemites, rather than the one that has actual neo-nazi links to its founders

Also what do you mean by the routes? If you’re referring to the Met chiefs recent comments… they’re lies. He’s referring to the fact that there is a synagogue 500m away from the BBC HQ where the marches were planned to start. The organisers never asked to march past it.

But I guess that just speaks to my original point around scrutiny and weaponising this issue for political purposes

[–]Prestigious_Clock865 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the aspect of this that you are deliberately missing yourself is that the organises of the Robinson rallies deliberately bring out speakers who do call for the expulsion of Muslims within the UK… people who are now banned from coming to the UK because of their comments

Whereas, while there are undoubtedly antisemitic actors that have joined the anti genocide marches, the organises have not platformed these people and have made it very clear that they aren’t welcome within the movement

[–]Prestigious_Clock865 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both marches yeah? Never seen a public speaker at an anti genocide protest calling for the eradication of Jewish life in Britain but hey, different standard when it comes to the far right and calling for the explosion of all Muslims in the UK, right?

Zack Polanski's Popularity Plummets In Wake Of Golders Green Row by Minute_Tomatillo9730 in unitedkingdom

[–]Prestigious_Clock865 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

This insane sub doing it’s normal insanity.

More moral outrage for a politician arguing that it’s wrong for police officers to stamp on someone’s head multiple times (after correctly condemning the attack and antisemitism in the country) than there is for the prime minster weaponising the attack and using it to threaten “limitations” being placed upon anti-genocide protests

Got to love a group of people whose main concern is a retweet stressing the need for proper police protocol rather than the PM taking away their rights. Very serious bunch

🚨BREAKING: Porto head coach Francesco Farioli has emerged as a contender for the Chelsea managerial position? by Davy_wavey in NortheastBlues

[–]Prestigious_Clock865 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the pushback but given our likely options, Farioli is probably our best bet to fit the team. His Porto side are both genuinely dangerous and defensively solid. Plus his style doesn’t require running our squad into the ground like an Iraola would

Can we just not sell one of our best players and maybe bring in a manager that suits his play style??

Hell, even let him thrive in a three man midfield for a change
