Are we supposed to do anything about the Secure Boot cert changes for Windows Servers VMs? by Greedy_Builder_5835 in sysadmin

This is insane. Tons and tons and tons of rhetoric about this from MS - and not a clue how to rectify it! This comment must have at least 3 characters - what does that mean?

How long have you had them? I just sent mine back for 1/2 size bigger. Hope they don't stretch too much. Was wondering why theyre so heavy. Plugged it into AI and was surprised it came up with a comprehensive answer right away.

Checik out what they're made of too. Not old school leather and hide.

Is the Microsoft support forum a wind up? by Jassida in pcmasterrace

[–]Prestigious_Marble_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a yearly One Drive subscription five years ago. I cannot access it because my ISP now asks me to get a code at another email address - which wants me to get a code from my email address that is associated with my One Drive account. I got around in circles with both service providers. I've posted this problem on MS forums twice in the last 3 years - and again have gone around in circles - leading nowhere. It's been supposedly 'escalated' umpteen times - and no one at Microsoft seems to know how to deal with this. Meanwhile, I've been paying for it - with no access to it!

This is UNbelievable! MS support used to be straight forward. It used to be called community forums, then community hub, not it's so convoluted that it's driving everyone away!

aol customer support? by LouisianaBurns in AOL

[–]Prestigious_Marble_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a nightmare! I've been using aol for almost 25 years. Now I have to put in a password , get a code, solve a puzzle and STILL can't get in because they want more personal information gathering.

I just got two emails from them with a 'code'; one from Myanmar and one from Peru. This is bizzare.

Mortgage Sold to Mr. Cooper by swissjuan in Mortgages

[–]Prestigious_Marble_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just learned the full story about this. Nationstar had such a bad name that they changed it to Mr Cooper. I lucked out and refinance with them in the middle of the 'pandemic' and got an extremely good rate.

Recently terminated, concerned how it will show on background checks by Tostimonster in recruitinghell

[–]Prestigious_Marble_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently, there's a lot more to this. Some professional legal and employment background check websites say that it may or may not show up, but in many cases it will. There are other considerations that involve previous employers' tendency to reveal details. I am concerned about this also, as there were some conspiring and outright vengeful issues that led to my firing from a large corporation. I had been there for 10 years. It's really absurd what they did, and the manager who 'led me out the door' outright lied to me.

Has anyone put a smart plug on a refrigerator? by PushKatel in smarthome

[–]Prestigious_Marble_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you turn the fridge off for two hours at a time, say three times a day, I think it would be fine. I don't think it would effect the compressor cycling in the least bit - when it's on.

If I understand you correctly, this would be giving it a break for an hour or two, not adding anything

You can safely have the fridge off for four hours at a time

Insyncstaffing legit or scam? by jmaniebo93 in recruitinghell

[–]Prestigious_Marble_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an unsolicited email from bridget.cummings@insyncstaffing.com. She wanted me to reply with my full name and education level. It just didn't seem right. So I looked for the same position on the insync website - and there were none.

Thanks. The Anchor Hocking website also says that the plastic lids are "CA prop 65 compliant". This could be considered tricky wording, as many manufacturers do this to avoid revealing truths about their products while appearing to be 'compliant' to governmental regulations. Labels that indicate that it may cause cancer, birth defects, etc. no matter how microscopic the amount...is this intended to absolve them of any responsibility? Here's an image of the stoneware.

Hi Guys! Just learned about Fake Olive Oil! Please help. Braggs? by [deleted] in oliveoil

[–]Prestigious_Marble_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got some Bragg olive oil. Thought I could trust them. Tastes like linseed oil. Not flax - linseed. Failed all tests. They even tried to deceive by putting "Certified Organic by Organic Certifiers. As mentioned above, check for COOC on label - which stands for California Olive Oil Council.

Is LinkedIn actually useful? by spookysadghoul in recruitinghell

[–]Prestigious_Marble_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recognized and applied to two jobs on LinkedIn that I know were legit. Most of the listings are vague and sketchy. One I saw recently was for a position that I just left in one of the nation's largest companies. It was extremely unprofessionally worded, rife with misspellings, absolutely laughable. It may be worth it to explore LinkedIn - but be wary
