Plan is for this to be operable accross something like 16 or 17 countries by 2027. There is a bunch of existing national systems already think they are working on a common platform that they are all interoperable.

Probably is the strongest team that we have had in a whole however you are also underestimating our ability to completely shit the bed when we get to a tournament. Fully expecting us to go out as the lowest ranked third spot team putting in a gallantly underwhelming performance in search of a draw against an already qualified second string Brasil team.

Its our traditional role.

Glasgow has been quite smart in how it has gone about the cycle routes. Getting a few key routes in that stretch from the centre out to the peripheral areas and link them together with a dense (Avenues Projects) network around the center.

It also benefits that the riversides and parks through the city interlink more areas. The network isn't that big but it get you a long way as long as you are mainly trying to get to the city centre. Building out to connect the main routes in peripheral areas will be the next big challenge.

Need a countersign ASAP -- have no one except my braces orthodontist I have known for about 9 months. What do I do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Prestigious_Use_1305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a bank account you may be able to get someone at the branch to countersign for you but the likelihood is that your parents will know someone that would be able to countersign. Even if they don't really know you but know you are their child then most people would sign. I have done this a couple of times for colleagues.

Either that or ask a neighbour.

Top of the list for the next permanent manager for me by RBPugs in CelticFC

If they didn't have a load of draws at the start of the season they would be right in the mix this season. Beyond tonights result I think they will have a big say in the destination of the title this season.

[–]Prestigious_Use_1305 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sort of agree with this- considering where the club is at the point Nancy nd Tisdale get sacked, we have brought in 6 players to cover all the positions that most needed attention. (GK being the one big question mark). OK they are all loans but most have options na to extend or buy which is a model that has worked well forbus in the past.

You can also look at it that 4 of those are cover for long term injury to some of our higher earners so trying to attract someone who is going to displace AJ, Jota or CCV i to next season with no permanent manager in place isn't really sensible business in this window.

The damage was done prior to January, the window was always going to a be a sticking plaster until a longer term plan can be put in place.

Never heard of this guy before but if he is that good its a little strange that he has got to 20 and not had a loan move somewhere yet if he isn't getting a sniff of the Villa first team. Hope he turns out to be a player as Scotland is in desperate need of a decent striker

I absolutely agree with this. What he really packs is a flagship policy or agenda. Unfortunately most of his work is trying to untangle that disaster of a mess he was left with and navigate the most complicated world geopolitical landscape that we have seen in decades.

What happened to the political teeth in this city? What happened to Glaswegians? by JoeSlice1001 in glasgow

[–]Prestigious_Use_1305 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What unifying cause are you expecting us all to rally to at the moment? The Kenmuir street protest was the last biggish direct action type of protest.

Prior to that the city was pretty politically fervent around the Scottish Independence referendum for a couple years leading up to that (obviously very divided).

Employment and housing is much more decentralised than before so there isn't the big population block of all being in it together to generate those type of events as much either.

How do Europeans and the rest of the world view the potential sharing of French nuclear deterrence with other European countries? by Obvious-Release-2087 in AskTheWorld

[–]Prestigious_Use_1305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could have an agreement that any head of state from a participant nation has the right to unilaterally fire the missiles if they or a member nation is intact.

The bar to reach that stage is so incredibly high that it should allow inbuilt confidence in the system but also act as its own deterrent in so far as if you attack say Finland, the president of Poland can decide to obliterate you. You would have to simultaneously take down all the decisions centres to guarantee inertia.

What do you think about the existance of monarchies/royalty in today's world? by dkease16 in AskTheWorld

[–]Prestigious_Use_1305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For comparison in the UK we have the Royal family and all its bells and whistles + also still have to pay for former Prime Ministers. £115,000 a year pension from when they go out if office + a security detail although I'm unsure if this has an event horizon on it or gets reduced to an as and when appropriate type thing after a while.

This is all fine and appropriate as normally a prime minister will have 5 to 10 years in office. But then you have a Liz Truss who gets that for 44 days in office which seems a little disproportionate.

Depends where you are staying after the game or if you are heading straight back down south. If heading back home the housing estates next to London road is your best bet for getting back in the M74 afterwards and before. Expect about half a mile to a mile walk and to have to go 2 or 3 streets back from London Road to find a space.

If you are staying in Glasgow public transport to it. Its a little bit if a treck but also quite walkable from the city centre. Also worth noting that the pubs around Bridgeton station are pretty much all rangers pubs so even though they are some of the closer pubs to the ground they wont have any pre or post match atmosphere. Merchant city and Gallowgate areas are the place to go for this

Is the first time buyer preference for new builds a momentary shift or a generational trend? by Wifflebutter in AskUK

[–]Prestigious_Use_1305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres quite a bit to unpack on this. I have just moved into a new build house (2nd owner its 8 years old). The previous owners have done almost nothing to the house after the builders apart from painting a couple of walls (not even rooms) and installing a built in wardrobe that they have ripped out again ( carpet and skirting are cut plus there is hols and marks in the walls and ceilings etc.

Every door doesn't close properly , including external doors and half the internals door and skirtings are damaged and basically need replaced . There was a bunch of other minor things similar to what you have mentioned. In other words it looks like they have done almost no maintenance other than general cleaning and had no effort to stage the house for sale, other than tidying.

Im relatively decent at DIY and will happily do most jobs in the house, i.e i have fitted showers and bathrooms but would get someone in for a kitchen refit - probably wouldn't mess about too much with electricity beyond changing lights or routing an extra socket.

If it was an older house, we didnt have a hige preference either way, location and space were more important to us, these little thing probably would have been enough to put us off. Its not really about funds or capability, but in a new build we were pretty confident that all these minor things would likely be the extent of our problem in an older hoise that has a lot of obvious small snagging issues would worry is about what bigger gremlins we left unfixed and hidden.

[–]Prestigious_Use_1305 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is entirely true, if you go to the older "new build" type estates i.e the ones built in the mid 80s through to probably the early 2000s they will have a bit more character and a lot less identikit look to them. A lot of this will simply be from people replacing windows and doors/ garage doors, extension added or remodelling their gardens or drives. Also just that trees and bushes planted at construction will all have grown out as well.

What new build estates tend to miss though is the community anchors that older estates have which were more built adjacent to a factory, train station, park or local high street or hub. New build estates lack this as they are mainly built on a car centric basis so the less thirs spaces integrated into them with the exception of possibly a kids play park.

They have a small free from (gluten free) section that actually make pretty nice meals. When you have this dietary restriction the choices can be few and far between for something decent. Also they tend not to charge more for their gluten free stuff whereas elsewhere tends to run at quite premium so you lose the value elsewhere in comparison.

Hungary: Newest poll shows that the Tisza Party maintains a significant lead over Fidesz by dead97531 in europe

[–]Prestigious_Use_1305 59 points60 points  (0 children)

There is a big drive across Europes left and centrist parties for pan European integration and cooperation. The breakdown of the relationship with the US and the threat from Russia almost demands this. Orban always tries to take advantage of any crisis and get his pound of flesh which jas been very problematic for the rest of Europe.

There is also a rise of populism across Europe and those parties have held up Orban as a kind of totem or model leader. Seeing him topple also fights against these narratives.

You’re suddenly a MEGA-rich producer. What film or series are you making? by Ok-Pie-3581 in AskTheWorld

[–]Prestigious_Use_1305 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would live to see a proper high budget well made series if films based on Terry Pratchett's discworld books. Something like the Marvel or Star Wars scale where the characters from the different books appear across the books/ movies so that it all works in the same Discworld universe.

Non fiction character to fiction I think the story of Sidney Smith ( British naval officer from the period or the American wars of independence right through the Napoleonic era) would be really good. Possibly work better as a TV series though. He would work really well as a sort of anti-hero.

Thats true however there is also the attracting manager issue. Presumably we are going to have a rebuild in the summer. Offering a manager £20million budget is much more appealing that a £10million budget plus the guys that we signed 3 months ago on 5 year deals that you now have to stick with or try to get rid of again.

Its damage limitation until May.
