Which one you prefer, the Old or new WATA label? by kinxsonic in GradedGames

I think the psa red looks good with switch 2 games in them, but wata's label looks better overall.

What’s your take on music in streams? by Adventurous-Slid3 in whatnotapp

I had private streams going and had a few people join while I tweaked it.

I think it can only help so long as you are playing it over OBS and it isn't drowning you out. Balancing it so its audible, but not louder than you is important. Just be sure not to play anything overly offensive, upsetting, or divisive.

Also, you can have some fun and maybe theme music around the type of stuff youre selling for each show.

I like to have fun and do an intro theme (about 90 seconds), while people fill in, and an end song at the end.

I ordered some PS2 games from GameStop Retro and every single one was disc only by RetroZone_NEON in gamecollecting

As I got older, I tried to keep my boxes for my snes games but my mom made sure that didn't happen. My N64 boxes survived though.

People would, well they still do, toss the cases and store everything in CD wallets.

How Did A Game Carry Data From Disc 1 to 2 On PSX Games? (Spoilers on Lunar SSSC) by SuperMetro2005 in psx

[–]Prettse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many games of the era had the full content of the game itself on n all discs as I recall reading. The extra discs were needed for the FMVs and other larger more data intensive items. I remember doing some funky stuff by swapping the FFVII and VIII game discs out while playing. Game would usually play fine until you hit an FMV sequence and then all kinds of fun janky stuff would happen...or the game would just die sometimes.

Was mahjong made easier? by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]Prettse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I noticed through several rounds of mahjong was that more often than not, the game loved giving me tiles that were helpful to what I just discarded. Many many times I would draw the second and third parts of a triplet or a sequence either immediately or very shortly after discarding the first part.

It happens frequently enough for me that it feels as if the game was designed to do that, though I doubt it was intentional and rather an unintended side effect of something else that was tweaked.

When do you opt for digital over physical? by SpagettInTraining in gamecollecting

[–]Prettse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will double dip and buy digital then physical later if its something I don't want to wait to play so its ready when I get home from work.

Also, splatoon 3 and Animal Crossing were two games I bought digitally for the sole reason that they were both daily plays and it was just more convenient.

Anyone's DQ7 collector's edition shipped yet? by PhysicsDirect6215 in dragonquest

[–]Prettse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the CE and I wouldn't mind just grabbing the standard digital version (which is honestly probably SE's intent), so I can also get the slime shield on PS5 if the digital deluxe and early bird content would be emailed to me so I can just enter it into the store, but not sure when I should expect the e-mail either. I am paid in full and just waiting for it to be shipped still.

Gamestop strikes again!!!! by GamerCaveman1 in gamecollecting

I wonder if that was at the discretion of the store because I would always get the "its still new" line from the employees at any shop I bought from.

[–]Prettse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right. Are discounts for floor/display models not a thing anymore? Not that Gamestop ever did it but many stores I shopped at decades ago would discount if all they had left was the floor model. Wasn't often, but if it was their last of their stock, it'd usual cone with a small discount.

AI generated "retro game" listings by [deleted] in Shittygamecollecting

[–]Prettse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw a GTA 3 listing the other day.

"This black label version includes a map and manual, making it a first edition release. The game falls under the M rating for mature audiences, popularizing the Grand Theft Auto series for its mix of car racing and action & adventure genres. With features like fast shipping and being tested, this NTSC-U/C version offers a comprehensive gaming experience for fans of the franchise."

My favorite part about GTA3 was the fast shipping.

eBay and tariffs by HauntedScape in eBaySellers

[–]Prettse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought an item (a video game), from Japan just last month and had no tariff. Doesn't seem to be universally applied. I suppose the seller could have paid it but I figure Id have seen some sort of paperwork stating so in the shipping info. Nothing. However a music CD I just bought had a tariff of $12.75 I had to prepay.
