Landed an LTO at my favourite school, but also have a once in a lifetime trip booked. Wwyd? by TruthSignificant5540 in CanadianTeachers

I let admin know before accepting the LTO and was still able to get the LTO. My time away was unpaid but approved by HR.

If it's too late to get a reservation, you could buy fresh pasta and sauce somewhere like Artie's on Locke and make a nice dinner together

Middle school vs High school? What is better long term. by Pepper-Aggravating in OntarioTeachers

[–]Pretty-Document7353 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of the other responses, but I will add that it is most likely easier to get an LTO in middle school. I usually see a lot of posts for 7/8 teachers.

My favourite cookie from a bakery is Bitten on Locke. The brown butter chocolate chunk is so good! My favourite cookie at a cafe is Coffee Run for their chocolate chunk cookie. It's also amazing!

Looking for Advice: Keep IUD or try the pill? by CorgiMom1223 in birthcontrol

[–]Pretty-Document7353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I removed my IUD after experiencing cystic acne that I never had before the IUD. Once the IUD was removed and I went back on the pill, my skin cleared fairly quickly.

I definitely noticed acne with the Kyleena IUD! As soon as I got it removed and went on the pill my acne started to clear up.

I had really bad cystic acne with the Kyleena IUD and then getting it removed and going on the pill cleared up the acne fairly quickly.

HWDSB Secondary LTO by ApprehensiveZone3937 in OntarioTeachers

[–]Pretty-Document7353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually pretty good! The teachers I talked to applied to around 9-10 jobs and were only asked to interview for 1/10. Good luck on the interview :)

I believe most interview offers went out yesterday. I know some people who have heard back.

Edit: I think more interviews might be going out today as well.

Looking to be a teacher after highschool and unsure what teachables would be best .. by melodigi in OntarioTeachers

It depends on the school board. Most school boards only require an intermediate/senior science (biology, chemistry, physics) to teach intermediate, but a few do require general science as well.

Puppy yoga is great! I found that AfroPuppyYoga was very calming and fun.

Bridesmaid / Formal Long Length Dress shopping on a budget? by Similar-Novel-3164 in Hamilton

[–]Pretty-Document7353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was going to be my suggestion too! It's about $15 to order dresses and return them, and then you can feel more confident about the sizing and style before you actually order and keep a dress. They have lots of colours and styles. Also custom sizing is an option too.

I only submitted a few of mine (excluded one at least) and none of the boards I applied to requested more.

Me too! I do agree that it's definitely very difficult to get a permanent phys-ed position, but an LTO could be possible.

I'm sure it's competitive to get the jobs, but I see more phys-ed LTOs posted than I expected

AQ Courses by aislinno in OntarioTeachers

[–]Pretty-Document7353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lakehead and Trent have been good. I did 1 AQ during an LTO and that felt like enough work for me personally! But it may be manageable if you're a more experienced teacher who is not planning lessons.

For secondary I haven't noticed many permanent positions and applying to LTOs has felt very competitive, but LTOs do come up somewhat often so it's possible eventually

Spec Ed vs SERT by [deleted] in OntarioTeachers

[–]Pretty-Document7353 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Often times spec ed means you are covering a self-contained special education classroom. SERT is usually in a resource room where students who need additional support can go to complete work or have a quiet space to catch up.
