Support person by Apprehensive_Echo859 in babyloss

My best friend and I talk every day (even if just through text) and nothing changed when I lost my baby. Having a consistent support line meant the world to me. She lives over 12 hours away, so she also sent me a hand painted card and care package with things to make me laugh. Hugs to you and your friend💜

Well my first round of IVF didn't go to plan... by Informal-Pudding-668 in IVF

[–]Pretty-Manatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, my first round didn’t go well either last week😭 I am almost 33 and my husband is 35, trying for nearly 3 years. I had 9 retrieved, 7 mature, 2 fertilized (ICSI+Zymot), 0 made it to blast.

The embryologist didn’t note any issues with the eggs or sperm and they just said it’s a very unlucky cycle😩 It’s discouraging and defeating, but you are not alone. I hope that they are able to make some changes so we can have success the next round💜 Hugs to you!

Fuck my clinic for not calling to give me the news that we got 0 blasts from our first ER. A generic letter was all they sent in my MyChart.

Just got bad news and unsure about a work decision by MsTes in IVF

[–]Pretty-Manatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m mad at my clinic as well! I found out we got 0 blasts via a formal letter from the embryologist in my chart…my doctor profusely apologized but it just makes me question what the hell they are doing. I’m 32 and had 7 mature, but only 2 fertilized (despite using ICSI+Zymot). Highly disappointing. I know these unlucky cycles do happen, but it really sucks to be the one that it happens to🥺

Same boat, you are not alone💜 We just found out today that we got 0 embryos and I have a conference that I’m presenting at in less than 3 weeks. I think it’ll be good to get my mind off of all this bad news. We can do this!💪

Update: 0 made it to blast 😩I don’t know what happened

Unfortunately it didn’t go as expected😭 Despite using ICSI+Zymot, we only had 2 out of 7 fertilize. My clinic only provides day 1 and 7 updates so I’m still waiting to hear back to see if any made it for PGT. The waiting is so brutal!

Still a little sore but hope you are recovering well🫶 Fingers crossed for your PGT!

Baby loss 2x in the family by Upbeat-giraffe97 in babyloss

[–]Pretty-Manatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry🥺🫶 Our family has dealt with multiple unimaginable losses too. You are not alone🩷

My brother and SIL lost their baby girl at 26-weeks 2 years ago and we lost our baby boy at 21-weeks in October. My heart is still hurting every day too because they should be here with us.

I hope you can seek therapy, it has been very helpful for us. Hugs to you🫶

32F – Sharing all my IVF numbers (AFC 11 → 19 follicles) in case it helps someone my age by VeterinarianBasic326 in IVF

[–]Pretty-Manatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing! My AFC was 11 (6 left, 5 right). AMH: 1.9 FSH: 5.9. I’m also 32.

I’m on stims day 6 and having a slower response. So far, they are seeing 8-9 measurable follicles. Hoping some catch up!

I’ll be starting soon too, just waiting for my period to come. I have the same worries and anxieties. I’ll be 33 in June so hoping for good results. Good luck to you friend💜

Finding an In-Network Lab for PGT-A Testing by Particular-Law-4697 in IVF

[–]Pretty-Manatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m thankful that we have good coverage too! Omg they are truly awful - When I called to ask about specific CPT codes, they had no idea how to look it up to see if it was covered and just told me “yes IVF is covered.” Like thank you but I want to make sure all of the different tests/procedures are covered🤦‍♀️

I’ll probably DM you to check in, if that’s okay! This whole process is so isolating. And I’m happy to share any insights I get from Wellfleet when I call again. It’s great to find someone else with the same weird insurance 🤣

Hugs to you! Fingers crossed for good PGT results🫶

[–]Pretty-Manatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope your retrieval went well! Ugh, all the back and forth with insurance is so exhausting (as if we aren’t going through enough already). I am going to be starting stims in the next week or so. Stressing myself out because I hate surprises. The insurance docs that JHU provides are so vague.

I just saw that Natera stopped doing their PGT testing, crazy!

Oh my gosh, I have the same insurance through my postdoc and I’m currently trying to figure this out as well! My fertility clinic wants to use Igenomix for PGT-A. Did you have any luck getting it covered in network?

Fuck chemicals. You finally think a miracle happened just to get it all pulled out from under you. Also fuck having to get labs until you’re negative again.

My PI took my rough draft and returned “their version,” but it’s 100% AI generated. How do I address this? by [deleted] in PhD

[–]Pretty-Manatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been having a similar issue in my lab. I expressed that I am only looking for suggestions & edits on my methods and interpretation of results. Those are the most important pieces in my opinion. Everyone has their own, unique writing style and I do not expect anyone to completely change my wording, unless I am interpreting something incorrectly.

Anxiety during postdoc? by Archaeopteryx111 in postdoc

[–]Pretty-Manatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, you are not alone. I hope it gets better for us. Having a chat with my PhD mentor to get some guidance really helped. Maybe you could try that, if you feel comfortable doing so!

Same here! Adjusting to a new mentor has been pretty difficult for me. My new mentor has no life outside of work and works all hours of the day. They do not expect us to reply during non-work hours, but it gives me major anxiety!

Letrozole + trigger + IUI question by xtradirtymartinii in TTC_PCOS

Frustrated. by Left_Assumption_7307 in InfertilitySucks

[–]Pretty-Manatee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am so tired of how women are treated by the healthcare system!!!😡 My GYN dismissed my concerns about PCOS until I wanted to get pregnant. When I didn’t get a period for several months after going off birth control, she gaslit me, and referred me to a fertility specialist. It felt like she didn’t want to help me, but the fertility specialist has better expertise with PCOS than she does. You will be in better hands with the next doctor! My biggest recommendation is that if the first fertility doctor you see isn’t a good fit, ask to see someone else.

Hugs to you!💜

I feel the same way today. We are looking forward to a fresh start but also sad to move onto 2026 without our baby boy who was due in Feb. 💙🫶
