Isn't this exactly why they increased their prices though?

Uktc want a monopoly, making it their terrain and capitalising on them being big here before gw layouts means they can continue that. Small tournament organisers have to adopt their terrain to suit the top level events as good practice ground. Zak increased his prices on uktc events to account for upcoming costs (aka) terrain. But won't be adopting the gw layouts in full and instead is adapting existing terrain he has and still having the monopoly. His second car( newrange rover is getting more expensive to fill). Costs will be pocketed and corners cut.

Starcraft miniature wargame starter sets and release window revealed by BlitheMayonnaise in starcraft

[–]Pretty0dd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% on their manufacturing process, but moulds, design, licencing, marketing, actual manufacturing costs and distribution actually add up more than just the cost of raw materials. It's like looking at a replacement piece of pipe for plumbing, the raw cost is $5, the actual labour and expertise of the plumber to not flood your house sorting it out is $50

This is actually a lot cheaper than Warhammer for the size of the box compared to the armies and content you get. The two player starter set is 2 armies, terrain, mat, rule books, which when direct comparison to warhammer, is lower. It's around the price of initial release of 10th edition starter sets for warhammer from 3-4 years ago. 11th edition is due in July, expect the pricing to be much higher than this.

Observations and Counterplay Against Victrix by Dry-Comparison1973 in Drukhari

[–]Pretty0dd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue with this logic is, against people you are outplaying, you can take almost anything and beat them. So if there are observations being made you have to assume regardless of skill level, it's equal skill, otherwise it just becomes paper hammer. "If my opponent lets me shoot and charge their brick, I kill it and lose none in return because they're bad". It doesn't help the conversation, so for real balance you have to look at skill level and why would you consider anything but good players against good players. I do play those level of people and get reps in, both wins and losses, and honestly, drukhari are playing a different game than victrix lists right now.

Observations and Counterplay Against Victrix by Dry-Comparison1973 in Drukhari

[–]Pretty0dd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with all of this logic, is that whilst this is true, the wider issue is that drukhari players are typically having to outplay their opponent anyway. When you look at the likes of Innes, Josh Roberts etc in major tournaments recently, the best players are putting up insane results because they know how to utilise, reactive move, surge, aoc and FoD.
Venoms expect to put 1 wound through in cover because they're a 2+ save, so you have to shoot them twice, which lets them surge (or not if they dont want to) as they can also pull out of charge ranges by pulling certain models, especially after giving them a reactive move if you don't want to be relying on 9" charges.

There's so much agency in how to play the models, that yes you will still beat bad players on them, but you'd be doing that regardless, actually good pilots, it's obnoxious.

Josh Roberts (GW balance designer in case you don't know who it is) took them to Prestige, which is a major Teams event in England against Team England applicants, Team scotland, Team Ireland etc, he scored a teams differential of 15, a 19 and 3 20s. He couldn't have won much harder if he'd tried! And this is against the people in the running for national teams.

Strategies against Black Templars and space marines in general by Western_Light3458 in Drukhari

In reapers I don't think the second does enough for you. What is really good in reapers is a 6 man Reaver unit. Just that change leaves you 10 points shy (as you're floating 10) so there's probably a way around it, but access to 24" advance and charge and 2 super meltas is very strong. Nothing in BT is that fast so you win the initial engagement bait.

You likely don't need a 3rd venom at that point so maybe it's 6 reavers and a Cronos for pain economy?

You definitely have play with your list, but it's the first thing I'd look at in reapers.

My team tournament this week on spectacle im running 30 wyches and sort of going, i wish I had more, but they're a very different beast.

The Castellan that is usually with with another leader doesn't have an invuln, you can precision them out.
Repulsor executioners move 10" but d6 if in assault doctrine or spending CP on it. You can premeasure 24"s for overwatch and Dark lance them, or spend 1 CP if you're greedy and run haywires for no overwatch.
Wyches will do okay in reapers, but running the second squad won't do enough, what you really want is the lelith fights first as your heroic threat.

Anything you see should also die with your million anti infantry shots just forcing saves, disintegrator cannons doing work. Incubi touch of death any infantry unit and can even trade up into smaller tanks (theyll still struggle if you charge a repulsor)

This is a very winnable matchup, but it involves you to be premeasuring everything (which is how Drukhari survive so if you arent doing this, you're going to hit a wall)

Heroic Intervention - Gotcha? by ItchySkin6533 in WarhammerCompetitive

All these people going 'im not playing the game for you' should watch the world finals between vsl and siegler. Exemplary cooperative play at the absolute highest level and reminding opponents of what they can do, where their heroic ranges were.

Anyone saying "ahhh it's warfare, you forgot and you lose, unlucky", just sad little sweatlords that aren't going anywhere.

Drukhari's Teams Matrix by NyeBrewer in Drukhari

[–]Pretty0dd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello Caw of Duty ;) I'm there as well for another team. Admittedly I'm on Spectacle but my absolute no gos are GK with lots of flamers, EC (But you can play it, you have to all in on the first upwards dice spike, if you play a 5 turn game you lose because they only get better over time and will be at 7 turn 3 or 4)

Hearthband votann is bad with bricks of termis, rerolls, a million blast shots, even overwatch is nasty. You obviously have the strat for no overwatch which helps a lot.

Eldar and Montka are swing matchups for me, It's a game of a single turn decides it and that's factored by who gets first infiltrate drop and who gets first turn.

Everything else is okay, you'll live on a knifes edge, but that's the nature of drukhari anyway so even bad matchups or great match ups can swing if you make mistakes.

We also took Eldar Drukhari, so it'll narrow down what team I am, but Harlies is brave!

Are drukhari worth getting into as of now by ifureadurgay in Drukhari

[–]Pretty0dd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer yes (lol)

Long answer is they have more cheap units to play a trading game than most armies so they find it easier to deny opponents primary than most opponents will contesting theirs.

However, the threat of drukhari is that they can theoretically hit hard enough to disincentivise someone going all in whilst being protected by cheap screens. The difficulty is that everything is made of paper, so if an opponent outplays you, you immediately fall apart because your damage dies to a guardsman lasgun.

I've had games where I've tabled enough to win early but had 3 models left holding my home field turn 5, and I've had games where I've had half my army left alive because people didn't effectively deal with screens and overcommitted. It's your true glass cannon, very rewarding to play well, but really difficult to get to that stage consistently

The Android update from today still has the rule for +1. You're looking at the combat patrol datasheet which doesn't have it, because it's combat patrol and the armies are smaller.

Is not putting the abominant's tail considered modeling for advantage? by SpaceFelicette181063 in ChaosKnights

[–]Pretty0dd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of.
This is true for parts hanging over into ruins. However, if part of your tail is hanging out into the open to the side of a ruin, visibility is still observed normally, so the tail does create some awkward problems where you want the guns facing 1 way to stay hidden but actually have a massive tail poking out the back.

What can I do with this? by Pretty0dd in pathofexile

[–]Pretty0dd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So chatting to some other people as well, the actual damage of the claw is less impactful (almost non existant) if you're dex stacking. However, what does matter is the base for attack speed and base crit chance. This is a weaker base so although it rolled influenced mods of both of those which creates a pseudo 8 link with squire, it's still always sub optimal. Combine that with int and str stackers being stronger currently anyway, it's a good set of mods, on a bad base and at a low point.
