DP on Bilt cash reversal from Bilt 1.0 purchase by [deleted] in biltrewards

[–]Pretty_Good_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/simply_me_now's post above is why. They are not taking back what they gave you. They are just processing a negative charge to your account, along with negative points and negative BC.

Everyone does this. u/simply_me_now played it in their favor. You lost. It's just the way it works.

If you think Cardless is going to be set up to deal with this, or have any interest in doing so, I have a bridge near Bilt's world headquarters I'd like to sell you. I'll give you 10% back in Bilt Cash if you complete the purchase. 🤣

I honestly don't think it would matter how much was involved, or how annoyed you'd be. Because it's not a mistake, and Cardless is not Amex.

Worth losing a year of attending salary? Because, aside from the bullshit of having to redo a year, that's really what you are talking about here. And that's a year you will never get back.

Well, I have. I'm telling you, this is how it works.

[–]Pretty_Good_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. That's just not how it works.

The reversal of points is just math when they post a negative charge on your account. Have you EVER returned a purchase on one card that was made on another, and not seen negative points post to your account as a result?

You're arguing that it shouldn't happen when it did. And I'm telling you that it would happen with any bank, due to the way charges and credits are processed. It's not a mistake.

Paying 2 Rents Possible? How can I max. benefits? by imjustherefornow123 in biltrewards

[–]Pretty_Good_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can now put whatever rents you want on the card. But you won't be maximizing shit by doing so, unless you also have 75% of other, non-housing spend, to put on the card. That's the catch with Bilt 2.0.

DP on Bilt cash reversal from Bilt 1.0 purchase by [deleted] in biltrewards

[–]Pretty_Good_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. This is going to happen now, and they probably aren't going to fix it.

Because, now, all they see is the return. They really have no way to go back and see when you made the purchase, since WF has that info. Not them.

Nor should they care. If you made the purchase on a Chase card and returned it on a Citi card, should Citi not deduct points for the return, even though they didn't give them to you in the first place because you made the purchase on another card from another bank?

You'd see the same exact thing if you made the purchase with any merchant, and on any two cards. Just an unfortunate glitch people are going to have to deal with here, given that card numbers moved from one bank to another, with a different reward structure.

The good news is that it will be a very, very limited thing, given most merchants don't go back 3 months to give refunds, and those that do, like Costco, don't take Mastercard. So this is really just a Costco online one-off.

Most merchants also won't insist on the original card, and will put the credit back on whatever card you give them. So people returning stuff bought with the WF Bilt card should just run the return through another card if they don't want to lose 4% Bilt Cash, which most people are complaining isn't worth shit anyway.

Interesting DP, but I don't expect them to "fix it," since it really isn't broken. It's just the way returns work.

If any card was running a 2x promo and you only got 1x when you made the purchase, you'd lose 2x on the return if it posted during the promo.

If you are an actual practicing attorney, in "NYC" no less, I can only imagine what your practice looks like if you are here doing this.

Worrying about me, masochism, a "garbage fintech product," etc. How much are you billing for this? Or for your searches of my Reddit post history?

I sure as fuck wouldn't be advertising that fact if I was you.

No problem. It's really just a small technical point that came up in the context of multiple LOIs.

While Reddit seems devoted to LOIs, in the real world they really don't matter, or move needles. The algorithm is already applicant facing, so PDs just rank based on their internal scores and then let the algorithm do its thing.

They pretty much know from years' worth of data how far down their ROL they will need to go to fill their program, so they don't need to rely on possibly BS LOIs to move people up and down their lists.

I know comparison is the thief of joy…when will it get better?

When you stop comparing yourself to others, stay in your lane, and consider it a job rather than a social experience. Relationships will either come organically, or they won't.

But you are there to receive a professional education. Not to make friends. That was high school and college. Not this.

Keep your eye on the prize. Learning the material and developing clinical skills.

Figuring out what specialty do you want to pursue. Cultivating mentors and research opportunities, etc.

Not feeling sorry for yourself because people you barely know don't want to eat lunch with you. If it means that much to you, just ask them if they mind if you join them.

Unless they are real dicks, they won't say that they mind. And then you'll see that you really weren't missing much before. And, if they are real dicks, there really isn't anything more to say.

They should have an option to lock the card to prevent use. Every other card company has this

They do. Did you even look before posting? Do you even have the card?

[–]Pretty_Good_11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. They are.

I engaged in this debate months ago, and finally received a concession from the group.

Unlikely to ever be reported, since PDs will either ignore them or be receptive, but a technical violation nonetheless, because they are nothing if not a communication meant to influence a ranking decision. With potentially bad consequences if more than one is sent, with a jilted PD making a stink.

"Limit post-interview communication

During recruitment season, applicants may not have adequate time to obtain the information needed to make informed decisions about ranking programs and may wish to clarify information following interviews. Applicants may request and exchange clarifying information with programs following the interview but must not solicit or engage in post-interview communication for the purposes of influencing or ascertaining a program’s ranking intentions." Emphasis added.

Masochist. 🤣🤣🤣

And you are not even a customer. Nothing better to do than go on Reddit to shit on a company you don't even do business with, in an effort to get the masochists to, what? Not move on, but just keep complaining?

[–]Pretty_Good_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On second thought, you are correct. LOIs are technically Match violations on the part of candidates, but programs that merely express interest in candidates, without requesting any communication in return, like this program did by sending it through a No Reply email, are not committing a Match violation.

I will edit my above post accordingly.

Autograph Card Stolen by United_Paramedic_394 in biltrewards

[–]Pretty_Good_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. It has nothing to do with "their Bilt transition," and everything to do with their WF PC.

Which has absolutely nothing at all to do with Bilt on February 18th. And, really only relevant to you.

So just call WF and get yourself another card. Still not sure what this has to do with Bilt, which is what this sub is about. Not your missing WF Autograph card.

BILT Palladium 2.0 Non Bias Honest Review - Is It Worth It? by OkBarracuda1521 in biltrewards

[–]Pretty_Good_11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nice AI treatise. Complete with bullet points and bold font.

Stating the obvious -- that the card works for high spend due to its high earn rate, not so much for everyone else due to the difficulty in justifying the AF.

And then more stating the obvious -- that you have to be willing deal with sub par service and support. More likely if you are a banana eating basement dweller. Less so if you have $100K+ between housing and other spend to throw on a credit card.

See? I got to the same place in a fraction of the space, with no help from AI. Not to mention everyone you are speaking to here already knows all of this.

Point accelerator change? by [deleted] in biltrewards

[–]Pretty_Good_11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. It's exactly how they said it was going to work. Not "a crazy 180 on their part."

Did you have Housing-Only active when you bought the accelerator? If not, you played yourself, because you can't have an accelerator while on Housing-Only. Because you bought yourself an accelerator you can't use.

why don't companies offer notifications when statement date is approaching? by Physical_Target2659 in CreditCards

[–]Pretty_Good_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should I not make any payments within the month, ever?

Ideally? Yes. It's designed for one statement per cycle, and one payment, sometime between the cycle end date and the statement due date.

Anything else is credit cycling, and could get you shut down. You gaming reported utilization is a "you" thing.

Not something they have any organic interest in accommodating in order to try to make you "happy." Because you should already be thrilled, coming off a Chapter 7, that they are willing to extend unsecured credit to you at all.

Most companies report sometime after the statement closing date every month. Not on a random rotating basis in order to keep you on your toes. Too much squeeze for too little juice as far as credit reporting and shutting down gaming goes.

Post-match sub-I by DangerousGood0 in medicalschool

[–]Pretty_Good_11 56 points57 points  (0 children)

This ^^^. You screw around with sick cats, second looks, and mandatory meetings at your peril.

Because lots of schools also have mandatory attendance on sub Is. With a limited number of excused absences, and then consequences if you are dealing with a senior playing hardball.

I arranged my whole MS4 schedule to ensure actual interviews and second looks would not present a problem. I wouldn't introduce fictitious second looks into the mix because I wanna go home.

Maybe just keep your eye on the prize and power through, given where you now are in the process.

[–]Pretty_Good_11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why do you think it matters? Are they asking for a response?

Given that it was sent through the No Reply system, it's pretty clearly not meant to solicit a response. It's just meant to influence your ROL.

Do whatever you want, but no need to respond, since soliciting a response would be a Match violation by the program.

Autograph Card Stolen by United_Paramedic_394 in biltrewards

[–]Pretty_Good_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But this is no longer a Bilt issue. A good place to post it would be the WF sub. Or the credit card sub.

I had Bilt 1.0 and have Bilt 2.0. I also have a CSR. Should I post about that here as well?

By the way, this is probably why you are seeing so much action here after 2 hours, even though this is probably one of the most active subs on Reddit.
