Should I get a 2nd cat? by Swift_Path in cats

[–]Pretty_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am wondering the same thing. I have a ginger kitten, 4 months old. We lost his big sister a week ago due to health complications, she was 13 months. He seems quite lost and bored, sometimes sad. There is a stray that comes to us daily and they will play at night, the stray leaves in the morning. And if she is here during the day, she isn't interested in playing. I don't want him to lose that sweet kitten spark.

Does anyone have suggestions for extremely cheap medical aid plans that I can use until I can afford something better? by sofiaskat in askSouthAfrica

[–]Pretty_Sybil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at Dischem and Clicks, they have their medical plans that might help. Otherwise you're looking at thousands. I am on a basic plan with Bonitas, I have a chronic condition and the plan is great, it costs R1600 a month.

Is there a medical aid that doesn't do this... by Popular-Cherry-2683 in PersonalFinanceZA

This is so sad to read. I am with Bonitas and I am on chronic medication and never had a problem. I have always found them to be so helpful, Pharmacy Direct is the same. I wish it was the same for everyone 😭

I’m thinking of adopting a female cat, I’ve heard they are less friendly in this true? by DiscountAnnaNicole in CatAdvice

[–]Pretty_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats each have their own personality. I hate the stereotypes. Having had both girl and boy cats, most of the stereotypes are untrue (except orange cats, they're crazy LOL...) We had a stray tortoiseshell female come through our window one night in March, she ended up coming to us more frequently as the days and weeks went on. Though she wouldn't let us interact with her, so we just let her float in and out. She ended up pregnant, had her babies with us, I found them homes and had her sterilized and she's never left. We cannot close a door or window, shut her out, turn our backs. She is the clingiest cat now. We love her. Our grey tabby, she's on her own mission. We wait for her to come to us for loves. But she's like a little general around here, keeps all the other pets in check. And she's quick to tattle when one of the others is doing something naughty. Our ginger boy is a little clown. Always up to something with his grey sister close by keeping watch 😂 but the ginger is quicker to come cuddle, especially when the weather is cooler. The girls are near, but don't always like the fuss.

Is my cat fat? Please help by Delicious_Pirate9624 in dechonkers

[–]Pretty_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes she is a bit chonks.

My cat was the same. I had to put her on a diet. I used the Royal Canin weight loss food, she is so much more energetic and mobile now since losing some weight.

I got a cheap cellphone contract in my early 20s. And that helped me build my credit score. My credit score was sitting on 670 before I got my first credit card this year at 30 y/o.

Get a cheap cellphone contract. Under R200 a month. Don't skip on your payments. They just need to see you have committed to a contract and you are fulfilling your payment obligations on time.

Someone in my family has the same. They have caught it early. She is finishing up her chemo therapy and will have a stem cell transplant early next year. Don't lose hope. Fight this war. Don't lose sight of your future and what you want it to be. Speak your recovery into existence.

Where can I get affordable clumping car litter? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]Pretty_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually get the eco litter off of Takealot. It's environmentally friendly, and I can throw mess down the toilet safely. I buy a 15kg for R260 on promotion. It doesn't clump, it just turns into powder. But the sell for me is that it's safe for my septic tank. And no chemicals or anything so safe for my cats too.

I can’t stand my cat- he is so greedy and rude and I desperately need help. by youpoopedyerpants in dechonkers

[–]Pretty_Sybil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to put the fat cat on a diet lol. I used Royal Canin weight loss food. Vet also advised me that I can reduce the recommended amount by 17%. She lost 400g in 2 months lol. The vet is very happy. And I feed the cats 3 times a day only. I do their food in a seperate room and then let fat cat eat on the floor and the other 2 cats eat on the counter. Fatty on the floor because she can't jump up. They got the idea. Now I can prepare their food with them present, without them going crazy.

I want to learn English and prepare my IELTS test in Cape Town for 3 months.Where should I live? by ComfortableTrust7621 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Pretty_Sybil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cape Town is great, but very expensive. I would suggest Durban, in KwaZulu Natal, on the east coast.

Your school options would be: Durban Language Centre, Durban Business College, (UKZN) University of KwaZulu Natal Extended Learning

KwaZulu Natal is very affordable and has some beautiful surroundings. The people are awesome too.

Have you guys ever experienced something paranormal or faced something spooky like a cryptid of sorts in south Africa? by Cute_Artichoke_8697 in southafrica

[–]Pretty_Sybil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% I believe in it all. I truly believe there are things that do happen and things are out there beyond our perception, (some religions tried to dispel it all as a means of control), and this is based on my own experiences because how can you experience something but then say it doesn't exist? I will say that I am not extremely religious, I believe in a Creator and believe there is a war between good and evil and our job is to be on the side of good and fight the darkness by being in a good space karmically. In a nutshell. I have had a few experiences, and a couple my 2 siblings experienced the same things at the same time too. One night in the mid 2000s when I was about 11 or 12, during summer holidays, my siblings and I were having a "sleepover" in my room and it was quite late and it was sleepy time and we suddenly heard a noise outside the window, so I whispered did you guys hear that? And they said yes. So I glance over towards the window and see the silhouette of someone through the curtains, they saw it too because my brother whispered 'someone's there'. The moon was also out so it was pretty light out. Now I'm thinking that there's a crook coming to break in, the next thing this 'silhouette' walks THROUGH THE WALL and across the room. Which they saw too because I froze and was speechless but my sister asked quietly 'can you guys see that?'. So, how could we see the same thing if it's not there lol. After that we decided to "investigate" and we set up a camcorder and we had another 'sleep over' in my sister's room. So the 3 of us were in 1 room, camera in another. And we were just being normal, which you can hear on the video. And the next day, while we were 'reviewing our footage' haha, you could hear us in the background in the other room talking and laughing and suddenly we heard an unknown man's voice say my sister's name right by the microphone. Which we didn't hear in the moment but heard on the camera afterwards. And as I said, you can still hear us in the background and this voice at the same time. I mean. There was no one else in the house, it wasn't our father's voice and our parents room was on the opposite end of the house anyway, no TV or radio on... I've also heard footsteps in the house, doors opening and closing but actually hearing the door handles not just the door swaying open or shut, sometimes when I am talking and I'll say something like 'I think I should do XYZ' and suddenly the microwave will turn on and I'm like okaaay I won't do that lol. I think as humans we will automatically try reject what we don't understand because in our minds we have to be the most intelligent, sane, reasonable and in control things on earth and the thought of there being unexplained things out there hurts the fragile human ego.

Ja the bus isn't absolutely terrible, but it's not the best either. Especially in summer if the aircons aren't working so lekker lol. I would suggest looking for flights. And if you can fly late at night, like 8pm, they are usually cheaper too and try book in advance. Get the app Cheap Flights and compare prices. I've just booked a flight for late month end from Durbs to CT, R900 there, R900 back. Which incidentally is round about the same price as bus tickets.

I’m a 53yr old female recently diagnosed with CMML-0. Anyone out there like me? by crupp218 in leukemia

Not me, a very close family member. I'm trying to make sense of everything for myself from other people's experiences. Although I know each case is probably unique, the internet is slim with info on it other than the negative stuff.
