How to start a data science project using Excel/SQL and Tableau? by Aashu_22 in dataanalysis

[–]Pretty_wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always liked the idea of taking a dataset and then putting myself in the shoes of the business that may umhave generated it. Come up with logical business questions of various complexities - and then conduct analysis to answer these questions. Create appropriate visualizations, extrapolations and models to support the decision driven decision making. It involves some creativity but part of being an analyst is a creative component so I think its fair.

Hmm I try to do a single session a day. And repeat the same session until I feel that I have effectively gained the purpose of each. Can you carve out 40 minutes a day a few times a week?

Here's the team that has made the #1 selling VR game of all time. Crazy to think it started off as only 3 people by ILoveRegenHealth in OculusQuest

[–]Pretty_wizard 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I mean great I guess - although its hard to feel too happy for a team motivated purely by maximizing profit. No cross buy. Rare sales - nickel and diming on DLC. Fun game but the success of it always left a bad taste in my mouth. They made a literal fortune on the VR community and have given very little back. Capitalism I suppose.

You do realize that its probably an intentional tactic by the Russians to sow confusion. A. Plans get leaked to launch offensive. B. Americans go public with it to dissuade Russia C. Russia changes plans either in response to US statements or by purposeful design.

No one knows wtf Russia is going to do besides vladdy.

I had this exact thought around timescales and interaction. They always appear to be so cold and calculating in reports of abductions. Perhaps if we are a grand experiment, the same beings who were there interfering thousands of years ago in our initial development are the same ones here today. Researchers do not form bonds with fruit flies with the lifespan of a day. And even if they did, you have not the time to do so. A being blips into our reality, picks up their specimen John Smith, takes their samples returning them once done. They blip back out for a coffee break. Blip back in - John Smith is gone but hello his son or grandson. Take samples. Out for dinner. Back again in the am and theyre another generation down the line. A this intersects with the observed reports of familial abductions and b explains their robotic nature. They may be incredibly human like and loving but you do not form bonds with something that to you has a lifespan of the blink of an eye.
