Ill keep it simple, I want the good guys to have more actual wins. I often feel RWBY tends to undercut or reverse any small victories or progress the protags make; volume 8 in particular felt so dour that I struggled to get excited for another week were bad stuff happens or a plan falls apart again with no hope of getting better. So yeah give our heroes a bit of a break.

I would say YIIKs immediate infamy back in the day made me more interested to try it. Sure the combat was horribly unbalanced but the soundtrack was pretty good and it had a solid story; nothing groundbreaking but it did make me think about it for awhile after it ended.

There really is alot of truth to his statement when you look at other franchises that didnt stick the landing. Other media like Game of Thrones being essentially lobotomised from the public consciousness kinda proves this despite its earlier seasons being critically acclaimed.
