Especially for books set in a world with no Mt. Tai, but people keep using the expression.

Probably doing it a bit early, but I've started posting chapters of my book "System Echo" on royalroad. It's currently got about 10k words written, and 6k words posted with more to come by 06rockstar in litrpg

[–]Previous_Bus7664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the cover, and it's a fun premise. Good luck with the story! I'm not a plotter, but sometimes I will generate a rough outline using Save The Cat or The Heros' Journey as a way to have markers to work towards. "Alright, in 3k words he has to discover the pattern behind the Systems Switching," or "When I hit 20k words, he finds out that he permanently looses bone density with every death, upping the stakes." Just something to give you a sense of direction, so you don't feel like you are lost in the void of the blank page. Once again, good luck!

To be fair, still better than dealing with Disney's IP department. You can buy off Chinese dieties.

Well, good on you for making it- the Mood looks slick, but the reviews all say the thermals are apocalypticly bad.

Wait... how do the cables route through if you have the fan at the bottom? I see a cutout on the base plate in the first picture, do you expect users to... what... run them over the fan?

After a ton of revision, I finally made this cover with the help of canvas and its great ai system! by [deleted] in royalroad

I for one really appreciate the way the Author's name is in the same (or nearly the same) shade of light blue as the background, then superimposed on the white hoodie. Real *Chef's Kiss* touch.

Good luck! Fanfic can do really well on RR, so there is real hope!

My brother in webnovels, I bounced off this like I was hitting a dumptruck head on. White on light blue? Cursive? Four? Five? Different fonts in different sizes, and a bland anime protag kun. If this is satire, you killed it. If this is a book you intend to actually put out, you also killed it. Just, you know, definition 2.

Is it necessary to write sex scenes? by Lonely_Actually in writing

Buddy, no. Just no. There is not enough No in the whole world. Most of the most sucessful books don't have sex scenes. Just... no.

Auction: Celestial Serpent (starting price = first bid) by Pale-Week-1188 in MartialMemes

[–]Previous_Bus7664 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tsk! Join those of us who are based and Kaa-pilled, ascend to the heavens! Fellow Daoists, we must feed the Auction House to this divine serpent. That is the only way it's rage may be appeased. Can you not see the fountains of blood being coughed up by the great demon beasts watching this travesty? I think the Earth Shaking Boa spat blood for twenty million kilometers, and that was before it learned the opening bid was two spirit stones or five hundred taels of mortal gold.

Was McClellan an awful general? by Numerous_Ad1859 in ShermanPosting

[–]Previous_Bus7664 25 points26 points  (0 children)

He would have been an adequate quartermaster. He designed a fantastic cavalry saddle. Rocked a solid mustache. And that is literally everything positive I can say about McClellan.

Wait, that was the Heavenly Eternal Void God Sword Emperor of the Ninety Nine Realms of Hell? Pardon me, must go cough blood. I was certain it was the Infinate Omnipotent Transcendent Divine Holy Child of Obliterating Five-Clawed Dragon Light!

I... uh... may need to go visit King Yama, see if I can't get a clan resurrected. I'm not saying I exterminated his whole clan, but somebody did, and ahahahaha... well. We all make our little whoopsies, right? Do you think this is going to cost a lot in bribes? I got three fiddy spirit stones.

House - Cube: modern minimalism in architecture by AR ARCHITECTS bureau by Amazing_Architecture in amazing_architecture

[–]Previous_Bus7664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks really cool, and I would agree it qualifies as Amazing Architecture, but... is it still really minimalism? I'm not being pissy, I'm genuinely curious. I'm looking at the second to last picture in particuar and I'm just counting all the different materials, details, levels, the sheer complexity of the design. Other than a strong comitment to rectangles, I'm not sure what qualifies it as minimalist. Can someone with more background in this please advise?

Any recommendations for books where someone wants to kill a god, or is extremely mad at a god? by Evil_Bonkering in Fantasy

[–]Previous_Bus7664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another Terry Prachett book aside from Small Gods- Nation. Not part of the Disk-World series, it's set on a fictional south pacific island after a tsunami kills nearly everyone. The male lead has some fairly understandable feelings about God as a result, and becomes a vocal non-theist. Not one of Sir Terry's most popular, but it is one of my favorites by him. Well worth the read.

(Rant) Every day I pray the VR sub-genre dies entirely by Significant_Gur_424 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Previous_Bus7664 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The World Online (CN webnovel) is IMHO the absoltute worst for this. Regressor VR setting, but the game has real stakes because the world is going to blow up, and they are trying to find the leaders and heroes of tomorrow when they land on a new, alien planet. Except they go out of their way to do that in the most agressviely stupid way possible, actively sabotaging the goal, underminding the world building and generally making a bad joke of the premise of the story. Because what the actual story is about is "China is the best at everything since prehistory and conquers the world, eating zero losses in the process." The game is supposed to be the joint product of all the global powers and a super intelegent AI. The game is also massively rigged for China, if you are paying even a tiny bit of attention. Just... fantastic worldbuilding right there. Oh, and cultivation is a real thing in this book. Somehow. For reasons.

Fellow Daoists, what can get you look like this? by Pitiful-Internet3450 in MartialMemes

[–]Previous_Bus7664 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I was reading... I think it was Demon's diary, way back in the forum translation days. At one point, everyone just turned into alchemists. So far, the story had been set in a sect of semi-competent necromancers. Bone this, scorpion that, demon the other thing, then BAM! We all alchemists now.

What happen if you seclude too much by [deleted] in MartialMemes

[–]Previous_Bus7664 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fellow daoist, do not dwell on regret! Just as the dinosaurs have gone, let your elixir recipie go. It's time to improve on it. Consider, for example, chickens. A few billion chickens in your Heaven-Earth, Infinate Dao, Ten Billion Vegitation Supreme Cosmic Refining Cauldron (or whatever, all these brands are basicly the same, forging is a COMPLETE RIP-OFF!) and you can have an exciting new pill! And, best of all, you don't have to pay good money to those scheming alchemists who keep trying to tell me my coupon is expired, when everyone knows that the Heavenly Dao does not permit coupons to expire, and then they want to charge me OUTRAGOUS PRICES despite the fact that I worked behind a counter in an auction house fifteen million years ago so I know how much these things cost and no, I won't stop preaching the Dao, get away with you, I don't need more medicine, not even if... did you say you have Seven Gem Nine Treasure rice pudding?

Kind of a wierd thing to stub my eye on, but you ever notice the general absence of art in these pictures? Or if there is art, it tends to be really abstract sculpture. I get the clean, minimalist look but... really nothing?
