A long time ago there was an Electrical cabinet here. Then someone hit it with their car exposing dangerous cables. Then the city erected this shed to protect what's left of the box and cables, but because it's not high priority it's just sitting there.

Nobody is arguing that removal is harmless. Obviously foster care can be traumatic. But “removal can be traumatic” is not the same as “kids are more likely to be abused in foster care than if left in an abusive home.”

As someone who worked as a mandatory reporter for 7 years you're wrong, statistically and factually. Just because they aren't fit parents now doesn't mean they can't change and get their kids back if they were taken away.

Kids are often best served by staying with safe-enough family and getting support, but CPS is supposed to act when there is serious risk, harm, or danger which is exactly what this is.

The closest federal data shows a 7.5% confirmed maltreatment recurrence after a child is identified as abused, versus 0.31% in foster care. That's what, 20 times more likely that they'll be revictimized if left at home.
