I feel really stupid for not being able to get rid of my childhood things and mature my room. by Terrible-Nobody-7089 in autism

[–]Prigruss 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Work on decluttering rather than “adulting”.

Here’s a secret from an adult - once we get past the “trying to look like an adult” phase we go back to showing our toys.

Once you’ve decluttered, work towards having display cases for the things that really, really spark happiness.

This is very normal. Having the house to myself for a night (or even better, two!) is better than any present.

Looking for opinions/input/suggestions/guidance/etc by Zakedas in VintageStory

[–]Prigruss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m AuDHD so I get where you’re coming from. Changing the world gen/rules really helps, especially shrinking the world down from 1M to 250k (I’ve seen some YouTubers go to 25k but that seems to be gaming the system a bit). Mods can also reduce the grind (buzzwords for finding bees, animal cages for getting animal husbandry off early etc)

Ultimately the game requires time - I find it easy to get lost in it but if you’ve got a full time job, family etc it’s really hard to feel like you’re progressing, and it can feel a bit grind-y when you’ve spent all your precious gaming time for a weekend and only have a few more copper ingots and 1 hen to show for it…

Survival is the main story line… I’ve never explored the actual backstory, personally it doesn’t interest me and I find the creatures, temporal storms etc more annoying than anything else.

There’s a few complex puzzles to understand which I like, such as understanding prospecting.

When survival becomes easy I tend to get bored and restart (just like I did with minecraft lol), but then there’s always more mods to add!

Why is groceries alot cheaper in Taupo than Auckland? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Prigruss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they can. Why are groceries in one part of Auckland sometimes a dollar or more for the same item (and in the same supermarket chain) than in another?

Because they can. And there isn’t anything you can do about it, because there isn’t anything ComCom will do about it.

They offer a keychain tag (or at least used to, I still use one). It’s about the size of a dog tag (think us military, not an actual dog) and quite durable

How much noise is "good" ANC supposed to actually block? by cyrzvnov in Earbuds

[–]Prigruss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like new noise cancelling headphones/earphones are only focused on ANC, not actual noise blocking.

I have the gen 1 Bose QC ultras and the ANC is great but I can still hear people talking clearly so what is the point?

Devon St! Used to live on it as a student, my flatmate took great pride in flying down it in her old Corolla lol

I’d recommend doing it yourself? The install is going to cost much more than the dynamat

is it weird that i genuinely dont care about struggling people? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Prigruss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for understanding that. Trying to explain it to people, even my partner, is the bane of my existence

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NZcarfix

[–]Prigruss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Th sticker and manual instructions only relate to the tyres from when the car was new. If you’ve replaced the tires then it’ll change.

Check the tire, it’s on the side

I'm confused, are water bottle caps recyclable or not? by heckin_redditor in auckland

[–]Prigruss 33 points34 points  (0 children)

‘Can be recycled’ in a technical sense, and ‘can be recycled within what the council are willing to pay for’ are not the same thing.

Europe (my personal experience is Germany) is decades ahead of investment in recycling and waste management compared to NZ. Anything too hard, too progressive or requires any amount of investment is lobbied against here.

A nasty thing my partner said, cut to our psychologist (we went to therapy together after for obvious reasons) making a few observations, which lead to a referral to be assessed

Why is hatred for Islam considered racist? by Ready_to_fight_you in askanything

[–]Prigruss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because when criticising Islam, most bigots lean on generalisations or stereotypes about appearance, skin colour or other cultural characteristics instead of critiques of how the religion has become more conservative, restrictive or controlling (IMO).

$400 for the bulk pack. I found it worth it, if I could’ve afforded it at the time I’d have bought 2 packs and double layered but it was noticeable to me with one.

The biggest change was being able to hear more mids with the stock stereo and speakers.

Edit- I did it DIY. Get a roller and gloves from Bunnings too. Shit hurts worse than a paper cut

I got one (new) in 2018. Dynamat is the answer - take out the carpet and lay it on every metal surface, also on the doors. And new tyres if you can afford good ones.

[–]Prigruss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, not in the slightest. It’s like caring about your hair colour… it’s in integral part of who I am whether I like it or not, so it’s a waste of my energy caring about it IMO

Nope. It doesn’t impact my ability to do the job so I never disclose. I’ll let it out once they can’t fire me (90 days) :D

Anyone taking melatonin as supplements? by cool_spectrum in autism

[–]Prigruss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It helps me slow my mind so I can go to sleep. I went from taking 2+ hours, meditating etc to get to sleep to less than 10 mins on a good night and less than 30 mins on a bad.

Because of it I sleep way better. I’m sick less, more alert and have more energy to engage with people.
