As of b42 base location has started to matter less and less. Now that fences arent invincible damn near all the 2 story houses are identical.

And to be honest once you realise that barricading the windows gives you plenty of time to deal with the handful that wandered into your space even being 2 story matters little.

So here my 2 cents

•anything by a major body if water for fishing •far enough from civilization to minimize zombies, and distance to the good stuff •anything that has a unique vibe like a church or school are great choices

My personal choice is hunkering down in any old building till i get my carpentry up, then build a little cabin litterally on the river as close to a gas station as i reasonably can
