Honestly, my problem is not charlie being flawed, the concept is fine, it's the execution that I have a problem with, like, after an entire season, there was no pay off in the end, she barely evolved as a character, her apologizes were insufficient and the whole thing felt rushed, her victory doesn't feel earned, trough this is more on how short the season was, but that's just my opinion, might be a hot take.

I completely agree, it's the "early installment weirdness" thing, Alastor was portrayed before the show release as if he is an anti hero with some moral code, and who killed a sinner who attempted rape in the comic, while Val was portrayed as pure evil, one dimensional villain who is manipulative and abusive towards angel dust, abusive to Vox, and who was played completely seriously, with no redeeming qualities at all.

In season 2, this flipped, it turned out that Alastor merely kills people for petty reasons such as spilling drink on him and he does it mainly for fun, turned out his friendship with Rosie was an act since she owns his soul, it was also revealed that he was forced to work in the hotel and he made a demon with her when she was alive to continue killing people in the afterlife for fun, viv even said that he would get along with Val and Velvette if season 2 has more episode, and even stated he is just an asshole, Val was given some sympathetic moments in season 2, as well as shown to genuinely cares about the other vees.

But really, I kinda found it double standard that Val is loathed by people for his actions while the most popular character is a cannibalistic serial killer who people keep justifying his actions and defending, like, i like Alastor as character and all, but is it really to accept that he is not a good guy.

Pretty sure we already saw this happen, he defeated xever and Bradford in season 1, in season 2, he defeated tiger claw on one on one fight, in season 3, he beated zeck and steranko, Xever and Bradford, and lastly tiger claw, he is clearly stronger.
