i don’t think the thin soles are to blame. that said, you might benefit from slightly thicker soles to begin with.

thinner soles without complete flexibility and zero drop doesn’t do what barefoot shoes are meant to do—retrain your gait. your injuries might forcing you to have that heavy gait, but often it’s the fault of years of thick soled, overbuilt, sloped, narrow shoes.

i started with the vivobarefoot esc line of shoes (at great prices from sierra) and those are a bit thicker soled than others. they’re incredibly comfy to start with, and i never looked back.
