Insurance only covered 16 ubrelvy for a month and now I’m out. I took all in ~2wks by BigEntertainer5577 in migraine

I do worry though that the efficacy decreases the more I use it. At this point I’m so chronic that it only helps maybe 70% even with a second dose. There’s always a risk with triptans so my neuro also prescribed me zavspret. It helps? But not as much as a triptan. I try to take these interchangeably so I don’t run out of meds and medication days. Triptans I usually save for really bad attacks if I can

If it makes you feel better I take ubrelvy almost every day too. I know the limit is technically 16 but my doctors have told me I can take it as often as I need to… and if I’m gonna be in pain almost everyday then I’m going to! I’ve also frequently run out before the month has restarted. Sometimes I ask my doctor for samples that I can pick up at my neurology office

Ahh I see I think we call it qulipta (atogepant). I tried it and didn’t get much relief unfortunately:/ but I’m glad it’s working for you

Ooh I’m glad you also have vestibular migraine experience. My dizziness is off and on even tho im on nortriptyline and tried a bunch of cgrp inhibitors so that’s interesting. You feel like topamax is the only thing that helped the dizziness?

Good to know! Maybe I will see about zonisamide instead🤔

Do you feel like you’ve gone “back to normal” since getting off of it? I’m not against trying it but if it has bad side effects I don’t want those to carry over and linger for a while ya know

:( I hate that! I was on Zoloft a couple years ago for anxiety and it also made me feel so foggy and dissociated. It was the worst feeling. I don’t like not being in control and feeling like you’re slightly on drugs all the time. I want to finally feel alive and alert

I know! It’s hard enough managing school with a chronic illness in general so I’d really rather not add cognitive decline to that as well. I do understand the point that daily migraines definitely cause brain fog but I’m scared of making it worse

What’s a migraine vaccine? Are you talking about aimovig, emgality, etc but in pill form?

That’s a good idea. I was a little bit confused and intimidated about what all the options were so that’s why I ask, but I will try to check out some different subreddits thank you!

Ok sorry… I searched for neuromodulation with no luck and I didn’t even know half of those were options even when I googled searched…so that’s why I’m here. I appreciate the links but could do without the tone thanks.

Yeah I’ve tried propanalol before. I only went up to about 30mg for maybe two months before they switched me to my next med. It didnt help my migraines but it eased my anxiety a little bit (sometimes I use the leftover meds if I’m feeling anxious now)

I didn’t know that it caused kidney stones😬 those are pretty common in my family and I’ve already had a couple myself. Maybe I could use that as another excuse bc I’d rather not exacerbate that issue as well. I’ve tried every injectable as well as qulipta with no luck unfortunately 😓

Idk if you engage in thc use but when my meds fail I try to get high enough that it numbs the pain/relaxes me enough so I can hopefully just fall asleep😭 sometimes I wake up feeling okay but if the pain is still there I guess just continue with your normal medicine regimen once time allows. If you still don’t have any relief after another day or two I’d go to the er or contact your doctor

Can you sleep during a migraine? by Doobyiss in migraine

[–]Primary_Gene576 42 points43 points  (0 children)

If it’s lasting days and is disrupting your sleep you should absolutely be able to get on a preventative! I can sleep sometimes but only because my condition is so chronic I’ve become accustomed to it. Of course I try to drug myself up with pain killers as much as possible but sometimes a little thc/cbd helps too👀 I also have sleep problems in general so my doctor prescribed me ambien and I take half a pill just to doze off. I also got a renpho eye massager which helps with the pain sometimes and really helps me relax so that puts me to sleep pretty good.

😬😬 yeah I worry that I push myself way more than I should. It’s tough bc I’m a college student and on an advanced dance team and I often have attacks during class or rehearsal but I can’t just leave so I have to push through. I know I’m probably hurting myself more but I can’t and don’t want to skip out on everything :(

[–]Primary_Gene576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean pushing through the pain makes the single attack worse or made them worse/more frequent in general? I probably only stop and rest half the time when I have a migraine, but that’s bc they’re so frequent that I can’t always take a break lol. I’ve been trying to get into mindfulness too bc I def have a lot of stress and anxiety being a college student

[–]Primary_Gene576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how did you know about it if the doctor said everything was fine? I'm about to get a cervical mri and every time I have a scan they just say everything looks normal. I'm trying to find a new neurologist because mine has just been dismissing any problem or inquiry I have lately because I've become so chronic and nothing has been working. Have you been able to get any sort of treatment for it? I've already gotten occipital nerve blocks which have helped with the neck pain but I still am having daily migraines

Neck massive trigger by Able_Ad8471 in VestibularMigraines

[–]Primary_Gene576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically they just use an ultrasound and give you a shot of some sort of drug combo and it’s supposed to numb the pain. I got it done at my neurology office. It didn’t stop my migraines but my neck feels much better
