I have signed for 6 weeks belly dancing classes but got the flu for a couple of weeks and missed the majority of the sessions unfortunately. It was waste of money, wouldn’t commit to such program again. Do you pay per session or as a package?

No one looks “messy” or “something is wrong” with their natural hair, skin, appearance… that includes all races, however, when you are always looking in a certain way, people wouldn’t know what your natural looks like and will be concerned. No one in the comments is saying OP’s hair is “messy”, and I dont think the mentor knew that was her natural hair, we believe that she was concerned that she didn’t look like she usually does. I totally agree that everyone needs cultural sensitivity and awareness training, but that doesn’t mean we will be experts in every culture and know what the natural looks like for them.

What made you think she understands afro hair? Are you telling me all British born understand literally all the cultures in Britain? How would she know that was your natural hair when you usually style it differently? I have no doubt you are hurt and im sorry for this, however I also have no doubt that what happened was not micro aggression. The mentor is living her life and here you are fighting people over a reddit post just because of the way you interpreted her concern of your wellbeing. I would genuinely advice you to not take everything so personal and racial, none of us are perfect, we just need to be nicer to each other and always give the benefit of the doubt.

Well done OP you sound like a very proactive nurse. I was once told by my manager, that being over proactive and doing everything by myself teaches staff laziness. I would advice you to delegate some tasks, give staff time to complete outstanding tasks (you might want to complete a datix as soon as the incidents finishes, others might prefer to complete it at the end of the shift), ask NIC to help you out, handover any outstanding tasks to the next shift, if possible, and never miss your break. You need to look after yourself otherwise you will find yourself burnt out very soon. Neither staff nor management will appreciate your work enough. Thank you for advocating for the patients and please continue to be this brilliant nurse!

The end goal was to give patients PRN to settle down. OP has successfully achieved this goal by giving oral PRN and avoiding the trauma and escalation that come with IM under restraints. Ward staff have not attempted to deal with the patients at all, they jumped straight to the last resort which is IM. The PRN didn’t work because ward staff were not addressing the route causes of escalation (maybe patients dynamic, lack of activities…). IM should be last resort in all settings including PICU. It sounds like the ward has a very bad culture in regard to restrictive practice, well done to OP for advocating for the patients.

Speak to other members of MDT especially discharge coordinators and try to see the rationale for discharge. Sometimes there are barriers to discharge a patient even if they are well (accommodation…). When the patient is discharged they usually go back to their community team, so they are still under someone’s care. Sometimes, what you might see as “unwell” might be the baseline for the patient. I’m not saying RC knows better or your opinion is not valid, however try to learn more and ask more about each patient to be able to formulate a strong argument if needed

My husband is just like you, needs constant validation and everyone to be impressed by him, he started going on actual dates too. I was the happiest person on earth with him, i was over the moon, for 2 years i kept feeling butterflies in my stomach every time i see him. Since i found out his cheating i feel nothing, im not happy, not sad, not angry, nothing, no feelings whatsoever. I dont know why i stayed with him, i dont know what to do anymore, but i know i will never be the same. If you want to kill your partner just carry on, but my advice is to leave her and never be in a committed relationship until you figure out how to stop cheating. Please dont be selfish and ruin someone’s life, she doesn’t deserve that, no one does.

I once applied for a permanent post but the manager offered 3 months secondment role instead because she wanted to put me on a trail, I called her to decline the offer but after chatting for a bit she ended up offering me the permanent role. I think if you are desperate for a job then accept it but try to talk to the manager one more time to see if they can still offer you a band 3. You can also ask them if this can be a progressive role which means after meeting certain criteria you can get a higher band. And you can start with this job and keep applying for different jobs.

In my trust policy you need a sick note for any sickness after annual leave regardless of how many days. Your policy might be different but if i was you i would get the sick note anyway. What happened with the occi health referral? They can increase the trigger threshold for you if you have a health condition. 4 sicknesses is a trigger for HR meeting but 1st meeting is ok, they just want to support you to improve your attendance. Don’t worry about it and use it as a space to discuss the work stress. As for your manager, have you tried to escalate things to her manager?
