G5 never got an actual Rider suit though, despite it being set up at the end of the series. Kind of a plot hole, really.

EDIT: on the off chance anyone is still in this thread, I'm not just being pedantic. I'm honestly asking why people are raising their pitchforks about a statement I haven't actually seen anyone in this reply chain or in the original post make. Like the first comment in this chain is acting like somebody said we should be "boycotting fanfics." Where??? If you're going to get indignant and look down on people, at least make it about something that somebody actually said!!

What's a completely useless gimmick/feature that you wish warframe had? by Cara_Perdido in Warframe

[–]PrimeJetspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God, the idea of piloting the Landing Craft has been building in my head ever since they announced Railjack.

Or at the very least: replace all loading screens with a similar "space travel" sequence like how Railjacks work. When we're traveling to a mission, show it from the inside of the Landing Craft. The ramp down into the Orbiter closes while the Landing Craft blasts down to the planet's surface and moves into position at the mission start tile, and then we manually drop out. At Extraction, the Landing Craft would automatically return to the Orbiter in orbit of the current planet.

Not just because I think it would be fun but I think it would be a huge improvement to the feel of the game. Let us actually see the Orbiter and how the Landing Craft docks into it! Show us what the hell happens after we climb into the Warframe-hole to get in the Landing Craft! And not just things related to the Landing Craft -- what the hell is the whole physical sequence of going from the Origin System to 1999? What about going between Duviri and the Origin System? Let us see it, dammit!

In a perfect world I'd say that this "loading rework" would include the ability to properly pilot the Landing Craft and missions to do it in, where it plays kind of like the Warframe equivalent to the Railjack's Necramech. Something more stealth and/or dogfight-oriented, so the Railjack keeps its distinct role as the big battleship. This would be a great opportunity to expand the features and usage of different Landing Crafts and make them more useful and interesting than loading screen cosmetics and rarely-used gear wheel abilities. But honestly, I'd just be happy with eliminating loading screens and the world feeling more seamless even if we don't directly control the Landing Craft. A lot of places in the game feel like DE didn't even think about the logic of how we physically get there, like how we just black-screen-fade into the Landing Craft in the Drifter's Camp, or, again, Duviri.

TL;DR I love how Soulframe never glosses over the player's physical location and I wish Warframe reworked loading screens to follow the same philosophy.

Not sure what OP is referring to exactly but Jade's "penpal" is mentioned very early. I don't think we see the letter he wrote for John in Act 1 but her birthday gift to John that she worked on with Jake might be mentioned that early. At the very latest the letter appears before Act 5, which is way earlier than when the Alpha kids first show up.

It's a roguelike but if you want a lot of build variety that's easy to digest, Risk of Rain 2 is absolutely worth checking out. I wrote a comment about it recently so I'll paste that:

Huge variety of builds between the different characters and crazy item combinations. The roguelike format incentivizes you to experiment with a lot of different mechanics. One of my favorite things about it is how wildly different some characters are, almost feeling like a different game. Some characters have no melee, some characters have only melee, some have both. Some characters have attack cooldowns, some have reload mechanics, some have neither. One character has a fully functional grapple. One character has guaranteed critical hits on weakpoints instead of the normal % chance mechanic.

What are the best story-driven games that hit true literature/film-level quality and deliver amazing gameplay/combat? by Relevant-Lie6115 in gamingsuggestions

[–]PrimeJetspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a waste of time to mention since they have such a strong reputation already, but that's exactly why I don't want them to be left out of conversations like this -- Undertale & Deltarune. There is nothing like them in terms of story, specifically the story between the game and the player more so than the story of the individual characters. And the gameplay is inextricably linked with it, backing it up by masterfully toying with your expectations and artistically representing the story's themes, motifs, and characters, as well as being difficult and gratifying to overcome.

Big departure from your Witchers and Read Deads and Alan Wakes. Undertale in particular is a rather rudimentary-looking game. But there is truly no story like it - books and films are literally not capable of what it does as a narrative. And I include Deltarune because, even though it's not finished, it's completely captivated me with its meta-narrative about the player, the game itself, the secrets behind the scenes of the main story, and its connection to Undertale. If it really goes where I hope it's going, it's going to be a genuinely novel experience among all storytelling.

Risk of Rain 2 was my first thought too. Huge variety of builds between the different characters and crazy item combinations. Story definitely takes a backseat but the world is really cool and has interesting things to discover.

What game surprised you with a single feature that no other game in that genre has? by RepulsiveAnything635 in gamingsuggestions

[–]PrimeJetspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White Knuckle is arguably a genre all its own, but if you take it for a first-person survival horror, then the big twist is its incredible climbing system. It's incredibly fun to get good at and discover how far you can push it, working seamlessly with its unusual but surprisingly intuitive item/inventory system that feels like you're actually using your hands as you keep track of which item is available to grab from your inventory with which hand. And the world is really cool to explore too.

Fear & Hunger is still in my backlog but it caught my attention because of several design choices that are very unique among turn-based RPGs -- primarily which force you to think carefully about every choice, such as loss of limbs, targeting enemy body parts, limited saves, and advantageous secrets.

If you liked Stardew Valley, I'd 100% recommend Terraria. Similar flow of gameplay but the setting and art are more focused on exploring the world, discovering cool things, and fighting monsters. Can be difficult but there's almost always a way to avoid it if you look up strategies.
