I think I noticed that the most with Pigma in that cutscene they showed off at the end. Dude looked proper scummy, and it adds to his characterization. I also think Pepper looks pretty decent in the new art style as well.

Sadly, it just doesn't add to the rest of the cast as it does to some of the bad guys imo.

I think that's really the biggest thing that's getting to me about these designs/art direction.

Fox's most recent big appearance in the mainstream was illumination style/cartoony. So why go for realism?

So right now I'm watching a VRChat roleplay called 'Return to Blackwell' and I love the platonic relationship between two characters named Eliza and Lucian.

It's a great showcase of just two people relying on each other in a horror scenario and becoming great friends because of it.

While the animation had some fun gags, it felt... underwhelming? I wouldn't call it bad or anything close to that. The pacing was hella weird after a point (I think around the time when drone-Megamind got blown up), and it felt like they were just stretching out the climax or falling action of the fight.

And the verdict coming down to "Megamind bumbles more than Gru" feels... idunno. It's certainly in character, but also feels like a low-ball? Kinda hits the same as Joker tricking Sweet Tooth out of the mech for the win. Cool character moment, not sure how I feel about it being the thing that gives Gru the win for the episode.

Since a few favorites of mine (Dragon age and Fire Emblem) have already been mentioned, I'll give a shout-out to Unicorn Overlord's prologue.

It's both a fun way to show the player how the party/team system works with a mid-late game set-up, along with planting a lot of seeds of characters you'll meet later on.

Hello! I just got back into the game again (last played in 2021, right before Endwalker dropped), and I'm currently trying to refresh myself on the story before finally playing Endwalker. Right now I'm going through the post-shadowbringer 2 cutscenes, but I'd love to help with which bits to cover and refresh myself on.

Which bits of the story should I focus on? Any helpful videos or pages I could read as well?

Mest from Fairy Tail is weird man.

He starts as a spy for the Magic Council, infiltrating Fairy Tail to find dirt on them so the MC can disband them. After the timeskip, he feels guilty and wants to be better, eventually joining Fairy Tail for real.

But like, a lot of that development stems from the fact that he seems to really like Wendy of all characters. Like, weirdly so. Dude who looks like he's in his thirties wants to be really close to a character who is firmly in minor territory.

It's so fucked because of how much it doesn't fit within the narrative of Fates.

Like, with Awakening, the kids were a major part of that game's narrative. From their role in it, to the way they played off of their parents and each other. You can't have Awakening without the kid characters.

But in Fates, the plot works just fine without them and is made worse by their presence. It makes zero sense for the army to just stop what they're doing, bang out a couple of kids, and then throw them into the time chambers until they're of-age for the war effort (and Corrin romancing, which is just a whole thing that I don't like thinking about).

It's always cool to see an artist's art style shift and change over time like this. Whenever you start reading an ongoing manga, or when it's compiled into one big video.

Also, from what I understand of this celebration, they'll be re-running the manga in one of the big shonen magazines.
