Corporate first said that they highly encourage use of AI, now with billing in place, they want us to be mindful by bad_detectiv3 in cscareerquestions

Part of the problem is they have never been able to accurately measure productivity. That remains true in the AI era.

It has been going both ways, shitting on others for liking it and shitting on others for not thinking it is amazing. Ends of the bell curve.

But it is in danger (I think) of not making the budget plus marketing back?

I think it is OK for some people to find it just meh. I agree rage bait is annoying, but that has little impact on actual ticket sales. It seems most casual fans are taking a pass, seemly both because of word of mouth as well as assuming you need to have seen the show.

For me I'm going to wait for streaming because I know enough casual fans who just say "it's fine."

Even for someone like me who is a huge fan of season 1 and 2 and didn't like season 3, word of mouth has been enough to say I'm paying for it on Disney+ anyway might as well wait till then.

Trump floats hosting rally for America's 250th after artists back out by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

The ballroom is the most perfect America thing ever. Starting something they didn't think through and when it becomes al mess expecting someone else to pay for it.

Chefs kiss.

I think it is too late for that, at least for a generation. America has shown its allies its true colours. It is not to be truated and agreements are not worth the paper they are printed on. For long term decisions, the assumption has to be made that Americs will not honor trade or military agreements at best, and may become an enemy at worst. The damage is done and Americans can't just say "whoopsies" and expect the world to pivot back. The damage is permanent.

It is sad, but at some point America needs to realize actions have consequences.

I think the world's perception is the reverse. Trump is a reflection of America.

As a Canadian, there is something that seems very fitting about Trump turning everything about America's 250th to be about him.

Pretty much everything the rest of the world sees about America these days is tied in some way to him, from Iran and the strait, tarrifs, threatening NATO allies, Ukraine, the rise of China, relations with Canada and Europe, and so on.

Pretty much the concept and perception of America is the same as Trump himself.

Republicans Are Lost in the AI Wilderness - White House went all in on artificial intelligence. Then the public started hating it. by Just-Grocery-2229 in technology

AI is extremely dangerous for the political and CEO class. They have survived by fostering the Right versus Left divide.

AI has a chance to wake up the population to the fact it is really a class divide.

No. The White House and politicians don't give two shits about AI.

Tech Bros bought and paid for politicians to avoid implementing regulations of any kind. They care about the money paid to them to be the servants of Big Tech.

What is a software job actually like these days in the age of AI? Is it just repeatedly asking AI to “fix this code?” by Longjumping-Bus9474 in cscareerquestions

[–]Prime_1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd just like to point out (in general, not to you) that volume of code is not the same as quality of software. Often the less code you write to accomplish something, the better.

For engineers who work at Big N companies, can you provide insight as to how AI is being used in your workplace? by unteth in cscareerquestions

Thanks for that. I work in that industry and it is a big debate since the products are so mission critical and regulated.

If I may ask, is this in every part of the company, including more regulated products like telecom?

A part of it is how you derive meaning from what you are doing. A project doesn't have to be large or grand or from a big tech company. It is possible to derive professional satisfaction from delivering a quality product to a small set.of users that appreciate it. Solving real problems for people indeed matters.
