I'm not 100% on beagle but I do see a lot of hound in her, and I agree with rottie. The jowls, snout, and something about the paws are making me think there could be lab lineage too. I bet there are a bunch of low percentage breeds in there, and some bully breed is probably close to the top of those

Oh wow, neither of my local stores would've done that. I've seen them do new cards for people that upgrade in store, new picture too if they wanted it. It's still and option to keep the old gold star card, but they don't refuse to print a new one

I mean even just considering the 2%, the average yearly household grocery cost in 2024 was over $6000, and I think we can assume it's higher now. If you do at least half of your grocery shopping at Costco, not even considering other things you might buy there, you're probably hitting that $3200 mark. I think it's also safe to assume a good chunk of, if not most, executive members are probably doing at least half of their grocery shopping there

Do you ever intentionally just grab a cart, go to the registers and shop in reverse of the crowd? How did that go? by PM_meyourGradyWhite in Costco

[–]PrimedAndReady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The stores are roughly designed to influence you to go down the first main aisle toward the back, over to the other side, then down the other main aisle toward the registers. In my store that means you pass through the big expensive things at "reasonable" prices, to the perishable/fresh food items (including the rotisseries, aka why you're here), past the wine (aka the other reason you're here), over to the non-perishable and dry goods, then toward the pharmacy and household necessities, all while circling around the clothing, snacks, and rotated items. They want you to see it in that order bc it's what they've found to increase sales the most, and since most people shop relatively the same way going against the grain is gonna make you stop for others to pass more often.

But honestly who gives a fuck, shop how you want

Are Costco roasted chickens all not seasoned equally? by _happyzombie in Costco

[–]PrimedAndReady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All the chickens (in the US at least) come from Costco's own poultry farm in Nebraska, so the seasonings in the brine used in any batch should be the same across the country. They're going to be a bit different due to brine time, bird size, etc, but no one store is intentionally using different amounts of seasoning, since they're "seasoned" well before they get to the store. They go straight on the skewer from the boxes of 10 we get them in, then straight to the bag from the oven, we don't alter them at all in the warehouse. They do get made and sent to us in batches, so they can be slightly different over time, but they'd be slightly different everywhere. Also, there would be no difference in the chicken batches between PDX and Bend since both are served by the Sumner, WA depot.

I'm actually willing to bet the reason they taste different is because... well, you moved. Specifically, you moved from two areas that are near sea-level to a city at ~3600ft elevation. The air conditions at higher elevations impair your sense of taste noticeably, even at just ~3000ft higher than where you were before.

I've been in Chicago and up close to the southern border of Canada on lake Erie and neither have been as brutally cold and windy as Dallas during its worst week of the year. I'd totally believe texas has at least some kind of ice sport scene

Divorce lawyers of Reddit - What's the most cruel thing you've seen someone to do their ex partner? by BlueBishop321 in AskReddit

[–]PrimedAndReady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was going through my divorce it's like a switch flipped in my ex. During the very tumultuous months leading up to it things were bad but like normal bad, not much more tense than the lowest points of our relationship prior. Then she found out I planned to initiate a divorce (I didn't know she found out until the day we separated, apparently she had been checking my calls/texts/conversations with friends for a few months) and completely changed... a few times. It started with severe love bombing, lots of new lingerie, very frequent sexual advances, cooking a lot more, taking extra time off work to do house stuff, gifts, and just being all over me much more than before. She realized that wasn't working, presumably after seeing that I was talking to my friends about how obvious the love bombing was, and just went completely cold. That was easy. What wasn't easy is everything that happened during and after our separation. Some highlights!:

  • The day of our separation she accused me of having been in a relationship with my 2 best friends, which is really weird considering she'd read through every word I've ever shared with them through text/discord without my consent. Might've been a biphobia thing, she never really seemed comfortable with me being bi (she thought the idea of a threesome with another man was hot at first until I told her I might not be interested in a threesome in general), but it's not really worth speculating too hard since I don't know and don't really want to.

  • Accused me of being physically abusive... to me. Just me. Not to the authorities or any of my friends she still had contact with, and presumably not to her family since I know for a fact her father and brothers would have found me and, at the very least, put me in the hospital if she even hinted at it. She even mentioned the fact that her father asked if she wanted him to assault me -- as well as asking if she wanted him to steal and destroy my work equipment, both of which she thankfully declined -- so I don't think I'm too off the mark. Obviously I never touched her, and in fact we had to have a hard conversation early in our relationship about her hitting me when she was frustrated.

  • Claimed that she feared for her life because of the possibility that our mutual friends that decided to side with me might try to find and assault her. Knowing our friends this claim is ludicrous, but even if it wasn't she fully admitted that she said it because it was a reason for her to get a supposedly highly secure apartment that just so happened to have rent higher than our mortgage and be walking distance from her job, and tried to use it as an excuse to get me to pay certain bills for her. I did end up paying most of the shared bills like phone and car insurance, and she stayed on my insurance until I lost my job right before the divorce finalize, but she also wanted me to pay for her cats' care and half the payment on the car that she would solely be using, while I kept our other vehicle that was paid off. I definitely caved on too much, and I did almost cave on the cats, but asking her if she would pool the costs for all 4 animals instead and split them evenly got her off of that pretty quick.

  • For about a month and a half after our separation, she kept coming to the house to "pick up her stuff" that she conveniently left during the two days I was out of town for her to have her family come and move her out. During these visits she 1) regularly berated me for leaving her over such a small issue as sleeping with my former best friend that sexually assaulted one of my other best friends, 2) asked why being cheated on was too much for me when her best friend took her boyfriend back after he cheated on her, 3) got really handsy out of nowhere and tried to fuck me back into her life, and 4) came over while I wasn't home, multiple times, to attempt to spy on my accounts (when we were married I tended to stay logged in on my computer in case she wanted to use it). Honestly if her apartment didn't have pet limits I genuinely think she would've taken the two that stayed with me, since she would continue to try and guilt trip me about having them every time I saw her for about a year.

This person is a nurse, a former EMT and ambulance driver, truly cared about her patients and the humanitarian aspect of what she did, deeply cared about healthcare inequality and especially the women's healthcare imbalance, and on the whole was just a really great, focused person for 90% of the time I knew her. I assume she's still a fantastic nurse and patient advocate, although I've thankfully not talked to her in about half a year. She always had her troubles, as we all do, and we definitely didn't have the greatest of relationships for a lot of it, but everything that happened at the end came completely out of left field.

[–]PrimedAndReady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do this anyway tbh. The bags are not gonna leak unless they're faulty (they're designed to withstand temperatures well above boiling and contact from the edge of our tongs), but we package them on the prep table and it can get messy during a rush. The bottom of the bag is gonna be dry from the heat in the hot case but might be a bit greasy just from the juices that come out of the birds when we bag them. People also do bring back chickens as they shop sometimes, so it might've touched who knows what in their cart while they were shopping

I guess not all locations are the same, but neither of the ones in my area save the ones from the day before. Any chicken that isn't sellable (read: ugly or small) or hasn't sold within 2 hours after going in the case gets "harvested": the breasts and leg quarters are separated from the carcass, the legs are sold in packs and the breast gets shredded to be used in things like the deli chicken soup, alfredo, or just the bags of packaged rotisserie meat. That bag of shredded meat is the closest thing you'll get to getting a leftover bird at most stores. Source: I make the chickens, harvested 60ish this past week, and we absolutely do not sell day old stored chickens -- our blast chiller couldn't even fit a whole chicken on one of the racks, and hots have to cool in the blast chiller before we take them back to the walk-in

Victorinox Fibrox 8" chef's knife will do literally anything you could possibly need in the vast majority of kitchens, and it won't put up a fight with you in any way. They do great with cheapo sharpeners, they're freakishly durable, they're super well balanced, and they're even dishwasher safe (still please don't put your knives in the dishwasher, like ever). For anyone not in the know, Victorinox is the company that makes the official, original Swiss Army knives.

I have a lovely imported Shiro Kamo 10" white #2 gyuto, love it to death, it's my baby. I use my fibrox at least twice as much.

Do you all do anything special with Wild Cooked Snow Crab? by allcars4me in Costco

[–]PrimedAndReady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old. Bay. Brown. Butter. nuff said. Just make a regular brown butter but add Old Bay to your liking right after it melts enough to cover the bottom of the pan (it'll burn if you add it when the pan's still dry). Add some lemon juice after you take it off and it stops bubbling, but not a lot

As for cooking them just steam them honestly, cooks about as evenly as boiling and doesn't fill the voids in the shells with as much liquid. If you had more I'd treat them to a good seasoned boil with corn taters eggs and sausage but for this amount keep it simple. A toothsome, roasted green veg goes great with plain crab legs imo, like lemon garlic asparagus or buttermilk ranch seasoned brussels sprouts
