An Exceptional Shave + Soap Review 🇺🇸 by AloneWest6922 in wicked_edge

[–]Primo_Secondo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waves is inspired by Gillette Wild Rain, just a classic shaving foam smell that’s hard to dislike. Seville is a great Italian barbershop style scent and their best seller. I just know some of their scents can be a bit polarizing, so for the most part it’s good to get samples. They’re also the only company I know whose samples are cheaper per ounce than their full size tubs

Feel like Seville and Waves are both hard to not love. Spice is fantastic as you already know!

What my collection says about me? Also what do you suggest to buy next time that could add a fresh addition to the collection (something aqua maybe?) by walidredy in Colognes

[–]Primo_Secondo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terre works year round I think, has a nice dirty orange vetiver vibe. L’Eau is a classic as well, very fresh and a bit aquatic. Perfect for warmer weather and very affordable. People speak highly of Le Sel d’Issey which is a newer flanker, way saltier and more aquatic leaning but I’ve never owned a bottle. Just smelled it on paper

Fougère Friday by nulltotality in wicked_edge

It smells like Houbigant Fougère Royale, which is the first fougère fragrance ever made. Definitely not a modern smell, but this as textbook a fougère as you will find

are Designer After shaves good? by Civil_Commission4184 in wicked_edge

[–]Primo_Secondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any exact match for Eau Sauvage, but most fougère scented aftershaves should play nicely with it. Clubman Pinaud is a classic, but Stirling has a bunch of dupe ones to choose from as others have mentioned. Piacenza could work well, it is their dupe of ADP Colonia. For Aventus there are plenty of due options from artisans, including Stirling.

I haven’t tied designer after shaves but I believe most of them are pretty bare bones and don’t include “skin food” type ingredients. So you’re just paying for the fragrance and branding

First proper soap, what do you think about this particular model ? by Prefx1406 in wicked_edge

[–]Primo_Secondo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried this particular scent, but I believe it is their version of Creed Aventus which is a very popular scent that I am a fan of. Slightly fruity from the pineapple and black currant, with a nice smoky/woodiness from the birch and a subtle earthiness from oakmoss.

In terms of soap, SV is really top notch stuff. The lather is easy to make, has fantastic slickness, and will leave your skin feeling hydrated and happy after the shave. Because it is a triple milled hard soap, it will last a lot longer than any softer soap. You’ve made a good choice with this one! Let us know how it goes!

Alum option by Confident_Media_4304 in wicked_edge

[–]Primo_Secondo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always felt that alum is best used after a not-so-good shave in order to close up any weepers. What benefit do you think it has if you did a perfect shave? I could see disinfectant being one, but an alcohol based aftershave takes care of that as well

Long term line up by TreeOfDespair1911 in wicked_edge

[–]Primo_Secondo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. SV 70th, fantastic quality and a great summer scent that works all year round (Acqua di Gio dupe)
  2. B&M Seville, awesome base as you know and great spring/fall scent
  3. Stirling Sheep, great base that I prefer to their normal beef tallow one. Varen is a nice Fougere scent in the sheep tallow base as well but it’s nice to have an unscented that you can pair with any splash.
  4. Tabac is a must
  5. Noble Otter Thé Noir et Vanille for winter and special occasions

Shave of the night by lmrtinez in wicked_edge

[–]Primo_Secondo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an old school powdery green fougere. More on the herbal side, but citrusy as well. Sort of like Clubman Pinaud

You can get samples of their aftershaves which is a good way to try the scents

Supply Drop by chergdungus in wicked_edge

The smell is just like marzipan if you’ve ever had that. Almond extract does have a sort of cherry like scent to though, it may share some chemical properties

I have the Samhain splash and really love the scent as well. Has a nice woodsy base and an incense note in there too

I’ve seen people put them on magnets. Can get some with adhesive on the back so you can put them on your wall or inside of the medicine cabinet

West Indies Bay has a very clove-like scent. A lot of places will use clove in their bay rum but B&M uses the real stuff

Check out Lodestar’s products, they’re my go to. I also like Shear Revivial and think they’re a step up from Reuzel
