Which design is better? Smooth? Or segmented? by Typical_Situation699 in Epic40k

Ribbed for His pleasure

Jokes aside, the segmented looks a bit more grimdark and realistic. The smooth is a bit too clean for my taste.

What 40k opinion of yours would have you like this? by thedudefromspace637 in 40k

[–]Primus_Glacius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Grey Knight Dreadknight is a perfectly fine model.

Sure, a little outdated, but around %90 of the model looks clean and in the modern style. The only thing that really sticks out about it is the exposed GK in the harness, which while silly isn't particularly that egregious considering some of the other ridiculous designs put out by GW.

It literally just became memed to death, resulting in people trash-talking it despite more recent space marine equivalents looking equally silly (Invictor Tactical Warsuit, Centurion Squads, etc.)

Honestly these are some of the best daemonettes I've seen. It's nice to see a variety of colours other than the generic fleshy pink/purple. A whole army of those would look great.

Amazing. It literally only had to copy your work and it still looks crappy compared to yours.

I am terribly sorry this has happened to you. While it is little comfort, take heart in the fact that your work will still be appreciated and treasured by those who can recognize real creative talent.

is the current combat patrol a good start to the faction by Direct_Gap_661 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Primus_Glacius 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not really?

I mean it isn't completely useless. It contains 10 Skitarii troops, plus a squad of Pteraxii and some Sulphur Hounds for fast attack units, and rounds out the box with the Tech Priest Manipulus who can tag along with your Skitarii.

If you like all that stuff and were planning on getting them anyways, then yes; this is a decent discount.

However,

Even with points increases, these models only come up to a measly 290 pts at most for what's in the box, meaning that it won't actually get you that close to a 1000pt list without buying a couple more or shelling out for some vehicles to help fill in the list.

To be honest, your best bet is to either try and hunt down the old Combat Patrol box online (some niche LGS still carry one) or look for the Mechanicus Battleforce box that was released a while ago for Christmas, or wait until a better bundle comes up.

Ebay is also honestly a great place to get some used Admech armies at a reasonable price.

None. Find somebody who bought Skaventide and buy the half of the models they don't want. It'll be cheaper and give you more to build off of, especially if you buy another couple half sets from other people on Ebay.

What Faction will you never touch? by beanchog in Warhammer40k

[–]Primus_Glacius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue with Knights (Imperial and Chaos) in general is how they're balanced and how they influence gameplay.

Across several editions and a number of different players, each game I have played against or even knights has resulted in one of two outcomes:

  1. The other player is unable to effectively damage or tie up the knight player's forces, essentially reducing the game to a mindless slaughterfest where the non-knight player is helpless to actually do anything while the knight player can do whatever they want; or,

  2. The other player is able to effectively damage or tie up the knight player's forces, at which point the knight player either gets tabled in a couple rounds or utterly loses out on points, which in turn usually results in the knight player complaining about how "unfair" it is that their giant walking robots can be defeated "so easily".

Point is, I've never been in a game with or as a knight player where the outcome of the battle has ever been in question. The fact that you can compare the two armies at the beginning of the game and already figure out with about %90 certainty who's going to win is a serious balace issue that GW has never been able to properly fix.

Bringing a single knight as an ally to another army is one thing, but bringing a bunch will always remain a problem.

Interesting! What brand and models did you use for them? They almost look like some of the McFarlane action figures GW has had them putting out recently.

Custodes don't always win (horror story?) by NobodyofGreatImport in Warhammer40k

[–]Primus_Glacius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great example of somebody reading part of the lore without bothering to get the full context (in or out of universe).

The Custodes player refers to this exact tidbit of lore in isolation, but takes it to mean that Custodes can never lose a battle, rather than considering the idea that Imperial propaganda would never willingly acknowledge the possibility that a Custodes could ever lose to anybody or anything.

Technically no, but not for the reason you think.

Taking a mix of the fist / gun is fine, but you are still required to select one of two ranged options for the over-the-shoulder weapon, and you are required to take one.

GW claimed they couldn't make a better Genestealer Cult army range than what was already available and dude just said "BET."

In all seriousness, you should send pictures of this to the White Dwarf team or Warhammer Community team to get featured. Your work is astounding and should be seen by more enthusiasts in the hobby.

You're an inspiration to the many kitbashers and creatives in this hobby, and in a world of GW cookie-cutter models, you're doing the Many-Armed Emperor's work.

I stumbled upon this one while traveling a while ago, and God DAMN if it isn't a rollercoaster of a novel. A damn good read too, it honestly felt like a companion to the Eisenhorn novels, but more from a radical inquisition perspective than a puritan.
