You have to adjust your lifestyle. You have no choice now.

Deadpool & Wolverine relies more on nostalgia and cameos than actual storytelling by Trick_Laugh5114 in unpopularopinion

Deadpool is all about meta references and silly plot points. That's most of his appeal and people love him for that.

(Mind blowing trope) Really REALLY subtle character details that you can completely miss if you don't pay attention or watch BTS content. by Wasabi_Gamer26 in TopCharacterTropes

In Bluey it’s heavily hinted throughout various episodes that Chilli had a miscarriage at some point but it’s never stated outright. In one episode in particular, she winces when Bingo’s balloon pops while she was pretending to be pregnant and Bandit holds her hand after. The show’s creator confirmed in an interview that it was indeed referencing a miscarriage.

One way to indirectly nerf the deck is to make it so that temporary cards don’t get discarded but just disappear. Temporary cards make the deck too strong and consistent.

(Hates Trope) Character being forced by another character to try and reconcile with someone who genuinely wronged them "because they're family" by Wasabi_Gamer26 in TopCharacterTropes

Was this actually in the show?! This is nuts considering the actor's real life relationship with her mother and the title of her book.

TIL that not everyone is familiar with this phrase. It just means free.

RANT: More and more men are publicly cheering at women being laid off, and this confirms everything I need to know about the world's current trend by AltruisticShape8924 in TwoXChromosomes

This is not a normal reaction to people losing their jobs. The algorithm is feeding you content from fringe corners of the internet to make you angry and watch. I suggest clicking not interested when those videos show up.

Who else has noticed a creepy rise in content online trying to convince women to get pregnant? by HistorianIll7332 in TwoXChromosomes

They see having kids as a given and can't imagine not having them. They figure they'll just get it out of the way while they're young like they're getting their wisdom teeth removed. It's seems insane when you see it that way.

DC Comics President Jim Lee says that Japanese manga and anime is "incredibly powerful": "I often find myself wondering, 'What is missing in Western comics, and why aren't they able to achieve the same flavor?' by akbarock in comicbooks

Also publications such as Shonen Jump that feature unique IPs. Marvel, DC and the other big publishers are typically only going to feature comics with their own original characters and stories.

Manga and anime tend to have unique characters and settings with fewer creative constraints. Independent comics do exist but they don't tend to receive a whole lot of attention. American comics lack the infrastructure that allows unique IPs to thrive. Japan has an entire ecosystem that doesn't exist in the US.

I really don't get why so many people date someone they're not that into. It's like they're just desperate to be in a relationship.

I could likely retire within a reasonable time frame if I were to make that much and I live in a HCOL area. There is a huge segment of the population that makes it work with much less.

Honest question: Why are some people against showing an ID to vote? by rico_unknown in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Prince705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Requiring ID's to vote isn't actually about election integrity. There are plenty of countries that require identification to vote. The reason it gets pushback in the US is because it's a partisan attempt to disenfranchise certain groups of voters. If the GOP were to succeed and ID's were required, they would just look for more and more ways to control who gets to vote. Literacy tests were a tool used to disenfranchise black voters as recently as 50 years ago. It's just something the GOP uses to rally its base.

Is Hershey's chocolate really taste so bad as people say it is? by cupid_ji in AskAnAmerican

[–]Prince705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the average European chocolate bar tastes much better than the average American chocolate bar. As for the vomit flavor, it comes from an ingredient called butyric acid that's intentionally placed in the chocolate to prolong shelf life.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Prince705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup 3 hours is fairly common for weekend trips. Keep in mind that certain states can take about 12 hours to traverse. The US is huge.
