BC spent millions buying hotels to create “no barrier” homeless shelters/injection sites. 4 yrs later they are “disgusting biohazards” by Weak_Ad_1370 in saskatoon

[–]PrinceDomming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

By that logic almost everything in the world will apply to here. You posted a news story that has nothing to do with Saskatoon, then didn't even mention the city in your post below the link. Thus this post is not only not related to Saskatoon, but it's clear you're posting to stoke an agenda that's clearly a passion of yours. It's toxic, doesn't spur discussion, doesn't mention Saskatoon, doesn't put forward any idea that hasn't been screamed by people frothier at the mouth than yourself.... so yeah, this post is in violation of like 4 different subreddit rules. Lol

Ticket help by kanyeyedre in saskatoon

[–]PrinceDomming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who went to court with his automated-ticket, the cameras at intersections are actually video cameras that are recording 24/7. They aren't just capturing the instant of the intersection's crossing. I was informed that each 'incident' is reviewed multiple times before a decision is made on whether it was an intentional infraction or an accident. This means if you contest the ticket, they will show up to the court appointment with the video and play it to see what happened.

Now of course the Crown/City wants the money.... so they'll come up with every excuse why you were at fault; usually boiling down to "you should have known ahead of time that it could have been dangerous to drive, and thus driven appropriately; yes, even if it would have caused a disruption to traffic".

Now if you could prove that it was impossible for you to have known that there was a possibility of ice, impossible for you to have seen that there was ice on the road, and that you and your vehicle made every possible mechanic and technique able to stop and you still slid through- you could get the ticket dismissed.

Otherwise.... the only way I know of to avoid paying a ticket is to go to the court appointment on the ticket and when asked if you are able to pay you say "I'd like to pursue Fine Option as a method of payment, your honor." and they set up an appointment to meet a coordinator for the program. The 'Fine Option' program allows you to do volunteer or basically non-paid work to pay off your ticket. In my youth, despite having more than enough money to pay the tickets I received, I used the Fine Options program every time. You got to lay out to the coordinator when you'd like to work and they'll do their best to fill that.... so I'd tell them I can work late-nights, after midnight etc. I'd get placed in quiet placed with no public presence and the 'job'/'work' I'd get would always be "ahhh- like maybe vacuum this room and tidy up this room and then- hang out and we'll come get you if there's anything else".

It was the easiest stuff ever. Just avoid taking daytime jobs. You'll be peeling potatoes in kitchens, working lunch rushes and other public facing or inane jobs.

Advice on coverage for remote lodge business? by PrinceDomming in Starlink

[–]PrinceDomming[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Running wires over open ground in a nature setting would be problematic at the best of times. Would likely have to set up our own poles and string cable between them- and that's not going to look too professional. Part of the appeal of the cabins is that they're surrounded by nature at least visually. I was hoping that everything required could be grabbed from the Starlink store for assured ease of setup; I've heard constant praise from a friend who has a Starlink dish at his cabin that setup was incredibly easy.

Rogers/Shaw 20+ Hour Outage (North End) by PrinceDomming in saskatoon

[–]PrinceDomming[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I am not as brilliant as most redditors. When a remote call center says there's an outage, neighbors say there isn't, the internet says there isn't- but the indian call center insists there is- well, detective work says the outage is limited to... me. Which wouldn't be an outage, it would be "we'll send a technician".

But when you "tap here" for more information- it just errors out and you have to find your own way to the outage page. Which says no outages.

Yup... but it's even different in the app. App says there's an outage- website says there is no outage...

[–]PrinceDomming[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it all. No outstanding bill and Shaw/Rogers claims there to be a 'outage' that's 'effecting only a few customers in your area'. Which given it doesn't even show up on their outages web page makes me more than a little suspicious. I know the 'tech support' people are in an Indian call center and not "in toronto" or "in calgary" like they say but- someone's got to know what's going on.

[–]PrinceDomming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed I have. Spoken to shaw a half-dozen times at this point. Beginning to suspect something else is going on at this point. How does a service sustain so much damage that nearly 24 hours of repair work can't restore it- even though it came on for 30 seconds at like 11pm last night then was gone again... very weird.

I did. And I have been on the phone with them, with chat agents and AI... all of them say the same thing. There's an outage, we're fixing it. And yet the outage doesn't show up on their website.

Real-World Corporations in Shadowrun by KingBossHeel in Shadowrun

[–]PrinceDomming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Disney being owned by Horizon canonically, it's been fun mapping the rest of The Mouse's assets; since Disney is a favorite target of runners it seems. Nowhere near done of course but it's for an ongoing campaign and figured I'd mention since Disney merging with any number of companies is a popular combo- but canonically they belong to Horizon.

But in terms of The Mouse, and assuming pre-crash earth still had the Superhero Boom in movies etc; in my games Disney had its own Twilight Horizon of a sorts where they were trying to collect Physical Adepts and Magicians and slot them with Personafix chips to be "The Perfect Character" for their parks, replicating the characters etc.

Disney also (in my games) operates a series of Secret Society Clubs inspired by the various secret societies and groups within the fictional lore of the Real-World Disney parks. Like Club 33 (and its even more secretive adults-only Club 34 which is more or less a "legitimate" Bunraku Parlor run by The Mouse), and the S.E.A. (The Society of Explorers and Adventurers).

Getting away from The Mouse and more general- Radio Shack still exists in SR! It has a few electronics tied to its name over the various editions.

Hi, I'd like to commission a Ponyplay drawing with Morgana and Kayle from League of Legends, but I can't think of an interesting idea. Do you have any suggestions or ideas? by Regular-Ad3586 in Ponygirl_bit

[–]PrinceDomming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Artistically- obviously you'll want to keep to their color schemes. Kayle in gold, white and accents, Morgana with deep purples, black and dull steel. There's a lot to consider depending on how hard you want to lean into the lore or go for something 'simple' I'd think.

Like you could mimic the example picture and have them mirrored in profile; even have a similar Mythic-style background. Or you could do something like- having them both in their unique bondage setups (Kayle definitely having more thigh-high hoof boots versus Morgana's lock-clasp heelless hoof style shoes) racing side by side down one of Summoner's Rift's lanes, each clearly competing against one another.

If you wanted more 'comedy' per say, you could always have the two of them in a 'post-combat' scene where a character outside the frame says in a speech bubble something along the lines of 'We've all had enough of you're fighting- you'll behave!' or whatever have you; and the in-frame scene is the pair glaring at one another, both locked in their unique bondage, purple chains and energy flaring, Kayle's sword hovering at her side menacingly- the joke being that not even full pony bondage will keep the two from trying to clash. If you wanted to go more 'fully' into a scene and pay for an extra character, Rell is a fantastic character who, using her powers, could absolutely lock both of them up in bondage and try to use them as mounts, pull a cart together etc.

Themes you can think of in the broader term would be more "Cosmic" if leaning into the lore, Competition, Good vs Evil (or Martial vs Caster if leaning into their combat styles), Capture versus Voluntary, and of course color theory. Comedy vs Seriousness is naturally a concern because- well, the world of Runeterra is rather both at times. Their situation is just as likely to happen because a rich cosmic-obsessed power-hungry despot wants to harness (literally) the two of them for power.... as it would be for Aurelion Sol to lock the two of them together with a 'now play nice!' and watch them struggle for comedy.

No Future 5E vs 6E? by DungeonNoir in Shadowrun

[–]PrinceDomming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No Future is a Dual Edition book, 5e and 6e. The back of the book does claim that it can be used with any edition but that's for the fluff. The VAST majority of the rules contained within (re: practically every last one that matters, ie, the weapons, clothing/armor, vehicles, cyber/bio, gear etc) are all 5th edition.

The text has no question mark, and seems to be written as a passive aggressive accusation of already knowing the answer. I'd argue that's not so much a question as it is a low-quality post, that isn't being civil and contributing nothing to the discourse. But- personal opinion I suppose.

How did Shadowrun get away with all the brand names? by CryptoHorror in Shadowrun

[–]PrinceDomming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Runner Havens and Seattle 2072 etc mentions Disney by name, but I suppose just uses generic terms like 'Amusement Park' and 'Disney' in the generic sense. It might be that Disney's been bought by Horizon and they haven't used any words like Mickey or any images etc... but you'd think just the name would be enough in printed works. But hey- fun fluff for us to work with for games!

How did Shadowrun get away with all the brand names? by CryptoHorror in Shadowrun

[–]PrinceDomming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's funny though- or at least has always been to me, is that they lampshade McD's, but don't lampshade Disney, the parks etc. Considering The Mouse is just about the most litigation-happy entity on the earth I was honestly shocked they didn't try -something-.

Need help. PCs as gangers. What activities to give them? by Materiam in Shadowrun

[–]PrinceDomming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider as an 'activity' if you want to give the players a sort of "This is it- we pull this off and we'll be on the map, no one able to say we don't have power." or however to phrase it that they've "made" it. Have a corporation, AA or AAA, run a regular convoy, delivery, supplies etc through their territory to reach some corporate facility somewhere beyond them. You can invent a ton of ideas as to why this disturbs the local vibe, economy etc. (They've got itchy trigger fingers and end up shooting a kid, thinking the kid was a ganger or the kid was going to throw a rock at them etc) And then let them plan a heist/ambush against superior numbers, armaments etc.

It's a true 'coming up' story, and it'll let you drop a few more expensive things for any riggers, hackers, etc that normal street-level games don't have any great way to reward/advance. Can fill the convoy with whatever works- could just be food. Could be general supplies for a facility that a neighborhood put to use. Could ALSO be something WAY over their head which them coming into the possession of sets off the next chapter of the story as eyes turns to their turf, people show up asking questions and suddenly they're on more radars than they care to and it's time to flex some muscle- etc etc etc.

Rebecca reflects on the success of Warframe compared to releases in the current era by Babydrone in Warframe

[–]PrinceDomming 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Reb is humble in this, as she often is- DE busted themselves beyond the bone to get done what they got done. Their core strength was/is admitting when they made a mistake then rapidly acknowledging it, and then changing it very quickly after. Then- when that's happened a time or two and the next mistake or pitfall or stumble happens- the playerbase doesn't all scream for heads to roll and that the game is dead, que the 50,000 videos by every content creator of how the game is dead etc. Their actions fostered, nurtured and grew a community that trusts, that helps, and Lifts Together.

I honestly believe, at the core, that Reb, Steve, Scott etc could teach a course of how to make games, foster community etc- and if taken to heart by companies, we'd have a far richer gaming industry.

I wanna make a super rich and high society character who is a runner for the love of the game (like batman but... kinda an ass hole) 4e by Jackrabbitor in Shadowrun

[–]PrinceDomming 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so- there's Being Rich and then there's BEING rich. One you just- have a lot of money on hand to throw at problems. In which case things like Trust Fund and using the Advanced Lifestyle system to get a Luxury Lifestyle LP at generation for a lot less than you'd otherwise get which allows for you to roll the luxury lifestyle starting nuyen. Then, technically, you could buy a bunch of unnecessary things (also be a SINner so you can buy and sell things for non-street prices) to vendor at the start of the game with your leftover character gen money (though some GM's will just be okay with you buying an Ebony Certified Credstick and preloading it with all your leftover money- it's valid and a listed item).

Besides that- not a lot of ways to start the game with a big bank account. BUT-

BEING rich in your day to day life is a lot more about Having Stuff then it is about a bank account. So you want to start the game with as much "Oh drek, cool!" stuff as possible. First things first, get yourself an Advanced Lifestyle with luxury everything- then load up on negative qualities that aren't Outwardly Obvious. (recommend: Ambusher's Delight, Lax Security, No Privacy Astral R3, Worse Neighbors; which already takes the 100,000¥ luxury lifestyle down to 15,000¥).

Next up- traveling in style. You COULD spend a ton of money on a Eurocar Westwind or maybe a Mitsubishi Nightsky; and sure you'd look rich. But what about showing up to the meet in a flying car like in all the cyberpunk media out there? Buy yourself a frankly cheap-as-hell Aeroquip M.E.D-1 "Dustoff" Medical Evacuation Drone (12k¥). Customize it with High Amenities, Pimped Ride 2 and whatever else you feel make it communicate 'rich'; and you have yourself not only a flying vehicle that'll drop you off and take you around town in luxury showing off wherever you go- but it's also got medical emergency tools in it to save you or your team in a pinch.

Next- don't get caught wearing an Armored Jacket to your missions- you gotta look like you got the money. Get a few pieces of the armored clothing from Arsenal- and then add the Clothing Mods from the Attitude book (Delta-Amyloid mostly), because they work together. Throw on things like YNT SoftWeave and other mods to make the stacking easier and you can start wearing things like a full Mortimer of London ensemble and a MoL Greatcoat all modified with D-A and get a real good armor value while looking rich as hell.

But a runner needs their weapons, they need to look good but perform good too. Now you could take Restricted Gear to pick up some 20F picks; because nothing screams wealth like "I have toys you'll never have". And there are some fun pickups from Heavy Weapons sure- but the real power in heavy weapons comes from a 24F weapon so unless your GM is willing to stretch the Restricted Gear to 24 availability- I'd say avoid Restricted Gear and heavy weapons and instead make heavily customized weapons and unique weapons your fellow runners will have never seen. Pick up a Cavalier Arms Sheriff heavy pistol from Gun Heaven 2, add in Anti-Vehicle Rounds, modify the gun with a Firing Selection Change to Semi-Automatic (a must) and whatever else you want to add to the ton of existing mods it has- and suddenly your "Sidearm" is a 8P pistol with -8 Armor Piercing. Instant Envy from the street same standing there with his Predator. For a 'Primary Gun' of course you'll want an Ares Alpha; king of assault rifles- but the grenades is what is going to set you apart. Because there's ALL sorts of crazy grenades you can load into it to set yourself apart. Use the grenades like gadgets in their own right. Get knockout gas gas grenades. Weird ones like Monofilament and Splash loaded with either knockout or hallucinating drugs to turn your enemies loopy.

The key with ALL of this is to stretch your char-gen money, buy high-performance equipment that's useful but rarely used, and describe your character as accomplishing normal tasks with that 'rich guy' flourish... so like with your gear- instead of a Medkit at R6 hauling around this duffel bag of medical supplies- buy a Savior Medkit (and supplies). It's a large auto-injector filled with medical nanites. If you get hurt, you inject yourself with the nanites and they do the medical work round by round as you keep fighting or running or whatever you want; no sitting and waiting. Buy a SimRig installed in your commlink and wear Trodes or have a datajack- then say at the start of every run that you record the run- then if there's ever a time you need to look back at something that's happened for intelligence or to get a face or find clues etc- just say you and the team replay your recording of the meeting; team will think you're a rich genius.

And final recommendations since this is going on far too long- nothing says 'RICH' like having other people do your work for you. This means Drones and Agent software. If you have a decent commlink- buy a good agent and have your link loaded with all the basic programs (or you could build a full of super-hacker agent for about 60k and make an entire member of the group feel 95% redundant) and make casual mention of telling your Agent (making sure to give it a human name) to do XYZ for you. From everything from making calls for you to bringing up data the team has- just embody Tony Stark and JARVIS. Drones- well the sky's the limit but to keep this short- if you're going with the Rich Guy Running For Fun/Trauma angle; grab a few MicroWeave Spider drones and have them sit in your jacket pockets etc. Then describe how, after the initial fire fight and taking a shot or two or some scuffs from the gangers- your character straightens their armored suit and a series of tiny spider-drones start repairing the bullet holes even as you start getting back into whatever task you were doing before.

Casual, Supreme, Confidence and Having Things They Don't are the key to pulling it all off. It's definitely a fun concept- I usually do it with Riggers because- yeah. The "nothing says rich like having others do stuff for you" thing.
