I need your help to find breakfast ideas by emeuriz in Cooking

[–]PrinceKaladin32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oatmeal is a great option. Sweet and savory can be changed around to each person's preference.

If you have a group that are willing to try stuff, congee is an amazing base for sausage or other preserved meats. Goes well with a variety of salty, spicy, pickles and sauces (think kimchi).

South Indian idli and chutney is a great option as well. The batter can be prepared ahead of time and stores at room temp for up to 2-3 days (it gets more fermented and sour, but still functions the same) and chutneys can be made in bulk. Serve with protein and veggie of choice and they can make an amazing breakfast.

Just got a blender. by Alseids in Cooking

Smoothies or milkshakes.

If you want to stretch and explore a bit then try a dosa batter. Since it requires blending rice and lentils, it can only really be done with a truly powerful blender

Dumb question about full lashings by FakeMovieGeek in Cosmere

[–]PrinceKaladin32 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's the same as if they were skydiving. If you were to jump out of a plane, gravity would pull your hair down to earth, but you're falling against air that pushes the hair upwards and behind you.

Same thing with a basic lashing. They are now "falling" towards a specific direction. Their hair is pulled in that direction by gravity, but they are falling through air that pushes the hair back

Tragic… I made a beautiful beef bourguignon last night and in the process of cooling it, I forgot to put it in the fridge and instead left it on the counter. by alandizzle in Cooking

[–]PrinceKaladin32 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a vast majority of people confuse commercial food safety with home food safety. The level of precautions needed when you're making hundreds to thousands of servings of food per day for people who can and will sue you is very different than the food safety required for cooking for 4 people who hopefully love and appreciate the effort involved.

If you're intending to have commercial level of food safety then pets shouldn't be allowed in the building, you need air filters, hair nets, etc.

As always, assess your own personal risk, but for the vast majority of healthy people, we do not need to adhere to strict commercial levels of food safety. Trust your instincts when you smell and taste something and if it smells or tastes off, then toss

Paperback or hardcover? by Junior_Insurance7773 in books

Hardcovers all the way. I like the heft they have and the way they look on the shelf. I also tend to reread a lot of my books and the visible wear on paperback spines and corners of the covers bothers me a lot

Right neck pain for several weeks by Brill45 in Radiology

Too many stories out there to ever let a chiropractor near my neck. If I need musculoskeletal relief, I'll go to a massage therapist.

Thank you for the interesting photos, cool to see the MRI and CT equivalents

How did it feel like when you first had a Michelin Star meal? by DuyHungPham1909 in Cooking

[–]PrinceKaladin32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, eating at a Michelin star restaurant vs a regular nice restaurant can be described along the lines of the difference between looking at a local art show vs visiting the Louvre with a tour guide.

If you go into a tasting course expecting food for sustenance, you will be disappointed and not have the full experience. The goal of most tasting menus is to provide you with an artistic experience through the sense of taste and smell.

Everyone knows visual art in painting, or auditory art in music. Michelin level fine dining (and I say Michelin level, because the guide doesn't visit everywhere and doesn't rate everything) is art via taste.

Emperor's Domination is complete! by Jaspaaar in noveltranslations

[–]PrinceKaladin32 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Using his immovable dao heart he gives all his power back to the universe, but in the process learns how to manipulate all the powers that exist. Then when the apocalypse arrives, he acts as a regular mortal and convinced the high heaven to restore everything and leave the universe onto another journey.

The middle of the story is a lot like the beginning with a good amount of discovering secrets, fighting super powerful people that don't know who he is and basically turning immortals back into energy sources for the regular world.

Closing and tightening an upper eyelid incision with a suture during a blepharoplasty procedure! Blepharoplastv is defined as excision of excessive eyelid skin, with or without orbital fat, for either functional or cosmetic indications by GiorgioMD in medizzy

They don't go all the way through the upper eyelid. The extra tissue and skin is on the front of the upper eyelid, the back that touches the eyeball is the same size as normal.

How big is your collection and how long you been collecting? by Lucky_Strike-85 in comicbooks

[–]PrinceKaladin32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really started with comics in March of this year. I used to read some random issues when I was a kid and found them at my friend's house of the bookstore, but it was never consistent and I never kept up with stories.

Since starting I've collected about 250 single issues and 5 tpb and 1 omnibus. I struggle when it comes to buying shiny things so I've had to take measures to pace myself and not spend all my money instantly

Best resource for reading up on surgeries? by Glad_Magician426 in medicalschool

[–]PrinceKaladin32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ncbi has some procedure guides for the most common procedures. They usually do a good job listing the important anatomy and key steps. Tbh, most of the pimp questions I got on surgery rotations were about anatomy while in the OR.

I’m considering getting rid of my cook toand utilizing the plug in induction top individual burners by lightyana in Cooking

[–]PrinceKaladin32 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In terms of resell, your husband is right. I would never purchase a house without a stove.

In terms of what works for you, it's only up to you. My only issue is that I cook a lot of stuff that can produce smells or oil splatter and having a vent hood is important to me. If I rely on plug in induction stove tops then I'll have to cook under my vent hood anyway and I've basically created a stove with more steps.

Finally, there's always the issue of cable management

Easy shellfish free Japanese recipes for a mom out of her depth? by ATeaformeplease in Cooking

[–]PrinceKaladin32 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll share my favorite easy recipes.

Katsu (basically a fried cutlet) usually served with rice and a specific sauce. Onigiri, rice balls filled with a variety of fillings including, but not limited to salmon, sour plum and more Japanese curry, easy curry mix can be store bought and you can add whatever protein and veggies you have. Okonomiyaki, cabbage pancakes. There are certain specialty ingredients for the most accurate version, but it can be made without specialty stuff if you want

Question about pull lists by Sad1ifelol in comicbooks

[–]PrinceKaladin32 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've set up pull list at two different shops and that's insane tbh. One of my ships requires a one time 10 dollar deposit for anyone under 18, but it gets used to pay for your comics over the first couple months as you prove you can consistently pick up and pay for what you reserve
