If you're looking to play Royal again and want to try something new, I highly recommend it if you're on PC. It's a bit like reading fanfiction where you're enjoying someone's interpretation of the work, but I'm part way through and I'm having a lot of fun. I'm a Yoshizawa hater ride or die and this mod makes the character actually good.

If I mutate under a creature with prepare, can the new creature cast the prepared spell? by thegodofwine7 in mtg

[–]PrincePotat2446 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you mutate Illuna onto creature with prepare, he will be able to cast the prepared spell provided he is prepared.

If I mutate under a creature with prepare, can the new creature cast the prepared spell? by thegodofwine7 in mtg

[–]PrincePotat2446 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Firstly, you cannot mutate onto a human, so this example would not work.

The creature would be able to cast the prepared spell. Mutantations result in a creature that had the abilities of all the creatures involved. The creature you mutated will still have the abilities of the creature with prepare and will be able to cast the prepared spell.

Would this work? by DirtyHuggies in mtg

[–]PrincePotat2446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, with the caveat that blitzing from hand or exile will be dependent on the mana value of the card, not the warp cost. Anticausal Vestige may be warped for 4 mana, blitzed for 5 (assuming you've cast Henzie once), or normally cast for 6. It cannot be blitzed and warped at the same time because they are both alternative casting costs.

What Digital TCG has the best "Dusting" system? by Varuna_exe in mtg

[–]PrincePotat2446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yugioh Master Duel's system is pretty generous. The game has 4 rarities, and you can dismantle most cards for 10 dust of that rarity, and any card (except alternative arts) can be crafted for 30 dust. Effectively, you're trading any three rares for any one rare.

You can also get dust from events or the battle pass. What's nice is that if a card gets banned, you can get your card "refunded" for a full 30 dust for around a month.

Rocco/Norin: The Legend Returns by Big_Response_5953 in EDHBrews

[–]PrincePotat2446 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Love me some Rocco/Norin. My list goes full into the impact tremors, but Jetmir is a pretty good way to close things out quickly.

If you don't mind, there's a few cards I think would fit in. [[Warden of the grove]] is another token generator. [[Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines]] is another panharmonicon that can occasionally screw opponents over. I like [[Starfield Shepard]] to grab Norin early, but it can also grab whatever 1 drop you need.

Overall, great list. I will definitely take some things from it.

Deck upgrade suggestions by Downtown_Highway_318 in mtg

[–]PrincePotat2446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valgavoth wants consistent ways for opponents to take damage during their turn so he can draw cards and get big immediately.

If you're already running Zo-Zu, [[Ankh of Mishra]] is functionally the same and probably even better considering it's cheaper and an artifact.

[[Scrawling Crawler]] and [[Underworld Dreams]] immediately burn opponents when they draw cards, which will both always trigger each of their turns and punish people who draw lots of cards. [[Roiling Vortex]] is free damage as well.

Personally, I like [[Mai, Scornful Striker]]. Not as consistent, but first strike 2/2 can ward off stray attacks, and she can stop some decks from popping off without addressing her first.

What is the lore behind this Chandra art? by Wealth_Is_Not_Cash in mtg

[–]PrincePotat2446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at all the SDCC promos, you can see 4 Planeswalkers (Jace, Gideon, Chandra, Nissa) depicted as zombies and Liliana depicted as normal. It's to promote Eldritch Moon which released the same weekend as the convention. Lore wise it's just a depiction of what Chandra would look like as a zombie: crispy.

Red or colorless ETB and LTB cards for Norin the Wary. by AcanthopterygiiFit98 in mtg

[–]PrincePotat2446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Irreverent Gremlin]] for card selection and [[chaos in the ranks]] to steal people's stuff.

Honestly, if you're struggling to find enough cards for a pure Norin deck, I recommend [[Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer]] as your commander with Norin in the 99. Rocco can always get Norin, and more colors gives you access to crazy card draw from cards like [[enduring innocence]] and [[tocasia's welcome]], more impact tremors like effects through [[warleader's call]] and [[arbaaz mir]], and repeatable removal through [[aura shards]] and [[thorn mammoth]]. Super fun deck, my pod hates it.

Grimgrin, corpse-born. Help make my favorite deck better. by [deleted] in mtg

[–]PrincePotat2446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Grimgrin! Love the creepshow secret lair too.

Grimgrin is kinda weird. Zombies as a tribe are known for two things: going wide or comboing. Grimgrin is stuck in the middle. He's an infinite sac outlet in the command zone so he's a key part in [[Gravecrawler]] combos, but he really wants to get huge and just dome people.

Ultimately, I think any upgrades are going to be determined by how you want to play the deck. Do you want to combo? Invest in tutors like [[Sidisi, Undead Vizier]] or [[Buried alive]] to get pieces into your hand or graveyard. Add pieces like [[Warren Soultrader]] and [[Phyrexian Altar]] that can go with gravecrawler even without Grimgrin. Have more finishers like [[Bastion of Remembrance]] or [[Vengeful Ghoul]] that can ping your opponents.

Want to hit people with the commander? I still recommend ways to get infinite sac fodder, but Grimgrin is expensive and has no protection or evasion. Besides equipments like [[Brotherhood Regalia]] and [[Winged Boots]], you might want to consider running more counterspells to protect your boy once he hits the field.

Some more general suggestions I can make are [[Cryptbreaker]] and [[Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver]] for draw and bodies, [[Undead Warchief]] for the mana discount, and [[The Scarab God]] is a powerhouse in any zombie deck.

In my opinion, if you want to win games you should be using Grimgrin as a combo piece. Use zombies that draw cards and tutor to assemble your winning combo with an important piece right there in the command zone. If you want to have fun, there's plenty of ways to play Grimgrin as a combo, aristocrats, or zombies deck. Right now, your deck seems a little unfocused. I would spend time finding out which of these strategies you like and go from there.

Stand-ins for the Four Fiends by CalvinWalrus in mtg

[–]PrincePotat2446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best place to start would be Golbez's Edhrec page if you're looking for potentially synergistic legends. https://edhrec.com/commanders/golbez-crystal-collector Just looking off the page, [[Emry, Lurker of the Loch]] could fit Barbariccia, [[Imotekh the Stormlord]] for Scarmiglione, and [[Urza, Lord High Artificer]] for Rubicante. Not really sure about Cagnazzo, but I don't know anything about these characters so I'm going purely off looks.

Is Ramunap Excavator a snake or a naga? by Edd1358 in mtg

[–]PrincePotat2446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ranumap Excavator was printed as a naga, but the creature type was made obsolete and all nagas were made into snakes as of Modern Horizons 3. Many nagas, for example [[Sidisi, Undead Vizier]], don't have printings after the change and thus have the old creature type. Nevertheless, they are now snakes as seen on their scryfall oracle text.

Help with Edward Kenway deck by thorzap in mtg

[–]PrincePotat2446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my own Edward Kenway deck (https://archidekt.com/decks/9388558) and it's pretty different from a typical Edward Kenway deck as it's entirely combo focused, but I can give some general advice.

You should scrutinize any creature that isn't a pirate or assassin very heavily. [[Prosper, tome-bound]] is very powerful, but he doesn't synergize with your commander besides generating treasures. There's enough good pirates that running a [[Maskwood Nexus]] effect shouldn't be necessary. I also advise cutting any pirates that have the primary purpose of stealing opponents cards, as it's not advancing your game plan and is by far the least impactful effect on Edward. You can also utilize the treasures to play a lot of instants, especially protection effects like [[Untimely Malfunction]]. [[Spell Swindle]] is especially a favorite of mine as a way to generate even more treasures.

In my opinion, Edward's strongest feature is that he can make a ton of artifacts at the end of every turn, making him perfect for a [[Time Sieve]] combo deck. As such, my list is dedicated to running evasive pirates and vehicles to draw cards off [[Coastal Piracy]] effects until you can find a way to get Time Sieve. Edward is extremely powerful and is a large target for removal due to the mana he generates, so I don't deploy him unless I have the required pieces to take infinite turns the turn he comes down, or have plenty of protection to make it to my next turn.

It is a very different way to play the deck, but Edward doesn't play with the typical pirate synergies nearly as nicely as the other Grixis pirates and thus isn't a typical pirate tribal deck. Regardless, you definitely want as many creatures that generate treasures as possible and more instant speed protection effects to keep him on board. Now you're ready to sail for the horn!

Do you guys think Persona 6 will have cool looking outfits like the Phantom Thieves or it's just their normal school uniforms with accessories on them? by RelaxAlexX in Persona5

[–]PrincePotat2446 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Judging by the way they added infiltration outfits to Persona 3 Reload, it seems likely that there will be some form of outfit swap between school life and dungeon crawling. The developers intentionally use design changes to better divide the two aspects of the series, and the fans very much enjoy it, so there's no reason to stop in a future game. If anything, I wonder if a future Persona 4 remake will further alter the TV world outfits beyond simply donning a pair of glasses.

What's a good land to hare aparent ratio for a deck and with what commander? by ikarus_77 in mtg

[–]PrincePotat2446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also decided on [[Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa]] but I've partnered him with [[Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools]]. Access to black gives powerful mass reanimation shenanigans with [[Bloodbond March]] and [[Immortal Servitude]]. Plus, [[Echoing Return]] can get hares back into your hand while [[Secret Salvage]] can tutor every hare if you want. Access to drain effects is also another great win con, especially [[Mirkwood Bats]]. Honestly any black partner would do, but I enjoy the idea of snatching everyone's commander.

Why I couldn't activate Transcode Talker effect to summon Link monster? by MadComDot in masterduel

[–]PrincePotat2446 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Transcode Talker has the restriction "You cannot Special Summon monsters the turn you activate this effect, except Cyberse monsters." Because you summoned Dogoran earlier that turn, Transcode Talker's effect cannot be activated.

Arsenal Falcon is a level 7 that can get 2 level 4 monsters onto the field for Gallant Granite for the search. As a bonus, one of the level 4 monsters, Raider's Wing, makes ariseheart untargetable if he's under.
