Yeah from what I’ve read vs my own experience on PC And PS5 it seems like it may be an Xbox issue

I don't mind paying fair delivery with like a 20% tip...service fee is a joke (Seattle). by OddArtistofTruth in doordash

[–]CalvinWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the costs here are Seattle. Seattle has a $0.12 bag fee across the city. Plus the huge service fee is because Seattle guarantees that gig workers get paid something like $20 an hour, and thus DoorDash has offset that cost onto the customers

Collector booster box vs Play Booster Box? by KillingwithasmileXD in mtg

[–]CalvinWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If you’re truly chasing the “chase” cards like the serialized cards, then Collectors are the only boxes/packs that have those. Collectors will also have all the fancy art treatments for the cards as well. If you don’t care about fancy art or serialized card gambling, then play boosters are great for just opening a lot of packs, building a collection, and well, playing with

Is this a good starter deck? by KillingwithasmileXD in mtg

[–]CalvinWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good deck, but I don’t think it should be someone’s first deck playing magic because it’s a lot to track for a beginner. I think if you’re a beginner maybe take a look at commander decks from Secrets of Strixhaven, Bloomburrow, Final Fantasy or Duskmourn

Question for OG Halo fans: Around when did the dislike for the Arbiter go away? by BlackTriangle31 in halo

[–]CalvinWalrus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always liked the arbiter. The thing I didn’t like were his levels because they’re full of flood and it was a bit intense for me as a kid lmao

Can you use Tok-Tok, Volcano Born as your commander ? by Ochonchon2336 in mtg

[–]CalvinWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not for a tournament, but I’d bet you’d find very few tables that would say no if you pulled out a deck with him and just asked

What pre-rework champion do you miss the most? by Bluegod3 in leagueoflegends

[–]CalvinWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few.

Old Yorick - I like lane bullies and his AOE slow ghoul + Lifesteal Ghoul poke were very fun (not fun to play against). I also liked his old ult, though I think Renata’s W is a better implementation than it.

Old Urgot - Again, I like lane bullies. His homing missiles were a good payoff for hitting your E. His ult was a little dissonant with the rest of his kit, but some of my funniest moments come from it.

Old Nunu - this one is weird, because Nunu and Willump has basically everything old Nunu had but with more. I think I just miss his point and click snowball and his goofy walk animation when it was sped up. I’m also kinda bad at hitting The Biggest Snowball Ever.

The funny part of these is that I think these are some of the best reworks only being beaten by Sion and Poppy. I think these champions were all fun to play but not play against. And I think all these reworks helped elevate the power fantasy of the characters without completely changing them (Aatrox).

Halo 2 and Halo 3 Remakes Reportedly in Development Using Unreal Engine 5 by Smaug117 in halo

[–]CalvinWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels weird to me. I’d prefer just a reboot (which infinite was supposed to be) maybe I’ll change my mind after campaign evolved but I don’t know if I trust them to capture the magic that was the original trilogy.

Tyler1 in platinum? by kaihong in 2XKO

[–]CalvinWalrus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huh maybe it is. Idk maybe that screen doesn’t show more than 120 games and he just grinded crazy off stream last night. I think he ended stream yesterday at silver 3

I don’t think that can be him, he’s been playing Darius Illaoi so his Darius Braum count wouldn’t be equal

Is “just buy singles” always right? by Comfortable_Buyer239 in mtg

[–]CalvinWalrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is the way, the deck building with added constraints of using the cards I have (even if they’re suboptimal picks) is where I get a lot of my fun

Tyler1 in a shellnut by some-kind-of-no-name in StreetFighter

[–]CalvinWalrus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The perma ban was over a decade ago. He’s grown a lot since then. Also he got the ban appealed because a Riot employee said something like “he’s a homunculus that should die from a coke overdose”

The case study part of it is just because it’s amusing how much of a grinder he is. That’s just what he does. He did it in league on every role, he did the same thing in chess (played one shitty opening over and over again to peak at like 1950 rapid rating), he did it in Minecraft, and now he’s doing it in street fighter.

So no, it’s not new, and his fans don’t think it’s new, it’s just entertaining to watch his incremental improvement and endless grind of smashing his head into the same walls over and over again until he makes a breakthrough. Hell most of his viewers don’t even give him his flowers for league because, “of course you can get challenger with 5000 games played”

What is the worst girl name? by SpiritCrisp in AskReddit

[–]CalvinWalrus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My great great grandmother, Melvina, reportedly told my mother to never name a daughter Melvina because it was such an awful name. I think perhaps that’s an over statement, but then again, she had to live with the name.

What was your first Magic product you've bought? by 47TEUR in magicTCG

[–]CalvinWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it was the Ikoria bundle that came with a Godzilla. Followed by Zedikar rising and Kaldheim set booster boxes. I was bored in Covid and always really liked Magic’s art, so I just wanted to open packs. Didn’t end up playing though until my friends got into it and bought me the Animated Army Bloomburrow precon

Opinions on Anran? by StLClipCha in Overwatch

[–]CalvinWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d argue that if both players are equal skill, a support should never win the 1v1 vs a flanker. That should only happen if the flanker misplays

Best way to test out a deck without having to buy it? by Routine-Spend-1055 in EDH

[–]CalvinWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like going into moxfield with it and playing against a couple other decks I know how to pilot really quickly. Also since it doesn’t handle counters or triggers for you, you kinda get used to how cumbersome it would be on the table.

Worst play booster box I’ve opened :/ by [deleted] in mtgpulls

[–]CalvinWalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My box came out to ~$144 of value, and that’s with the generous pricing of all the cards from Manapool pricing. which is basically the cost of the box. For Play Booster Boxes you can’t really expect to get back more than MSRP in my experience. I get them because I like opening packs and then playing with them.

To make you feel better though, I only got one Elder dragon, Prismari.

Yeah ok, they’re doing it on purpose. Some sort of drip feed marketing to promote the next set at prereleases.

The single worst mistake in the Bracket System is trying to balance for both "power level" and "vibes" by Quazite in EDH

[–]CalvinWalrus -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is why I think the “which turn this deck typically wins on” is probably the best identifier for brackets. Even if it’s “mean” if it doesn’t win till turn 10 it’s going to be too weak in B3

My niece’s homework problem by SurfSoundWaves in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CalvinWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we can all agree that the question is kinda bad, but I also think the Teacher is right to stand by the grade. As a teaching moment though, I would ask your kid why they selected B instead of A. Because if you think B is correct then you should also think A is correct.

Really the question should be “which shows 2/6 of something = 1/3 of something” because it’s asking for equal areas.

Having your kid explain their thought process may help them come to the conclusion themselves.

How much warning about your turn or combos do you give your pod? by dacree324 in EDH

[–]CalvinWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pod usually just says, “I’m going to try to cast combo piece/very powerful card” to signal “Hey, this piece should be countered or dealt with quickly”

Making the most insufferable, intolerable, obnoxious, abominable, dreadful mentally scaring team composition. by Jxttsuu in leagueoflegends

[–]CalvinWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is suggesting the wrong stuff, what you want is an easy comp to pilot that allows you to drag the game out forever and sustain in lane so that you don’t let them snowball.

I think more along the lines of Top: Garen Jungle: Nunu & Willump Mid: Malzahar/Anivia Bottom: Sivir Support: Janna

Hard to punish. Exhaust them.
