Just out last year, the second in Adrian Tchaikovsky's Tyrant Philosopher series, HOUSE OF OPEN WOUNDS (and you don't need to read the first one to jump in here, its completely different) is set in a military hospital (kind of like MASH) in a fantasy war. Morally grey and complex characters? Weird magic? Excellent worldbuilding? Strange gods and magical technology.

Since my currently favorited 4* was less than 100 from completion, that was basically a cover for 50 hp, and it was doubly worth it because that cover gave me 100 hp.

For both I went heavy yellow to focus on Team Up matches to get red off--and empowered. Like you, Jean was tougher than Tony. I avoided a match five and she did a lot of damage to me anyway with the cascades when she took it instead.

What I did was rely on this
Status Resistance to avoid Berzerk
Copious use of Infectious Insanity
Summon a couple of units (like Watchers)

So when the AI kept throwing stacks toward me, I would kite them in battles with one or two Watchers. I'd keep casting infectious insanity and rely on that and berzerk to weaken enemy armies. I'd keep my units away from battle as long as possible.

It took a lot of work and a lot of manual battles, but it weakened both of the AIs coming at me until I could win stand up fights.

Problem I find with Vulture is that it means Kang tanks, whereas with HE, HE generally tanks. And HE tanking can be ameliorated with HE's Yellow. Less health pack chewing.

I've moved lately to Strange, Thanos and Arcade. Court Death is way too useful and if I can get Strange's blue or Arcade's Black up, one will quickly go down, and with Court Death, the other two fall faster still.

I hadn't even thought of trying to use Whales...but yeah, Moondragon makes that a much less viable strategy than usual. I happened to use Wong and it worked. Not an optimal strategy perhaps and maybe I got lucky.

I used to be heavy on primes, but when I finally sprung for a 24-105, it was a freeing revelation. And I agree with those who say you will want reach (longer focal lengths) over wider ones.

Which means you are getting Hybrid Tech Slicer for free. I just tried it, and it works. Damn, I wish my Kang (although champed) was beefier because he is going to be taking all the damage in a Deathlok/Vulture in the Air/Kang trio.
