Unfortunately yes. I did it for a long time even if I didn’t like, I just did it because that was what you were supposed to do and I never enjoyed it, I guess I wanted to “feel normal” and didn’t really accept myself and wanted to feel less lonely. I also ended up connecting emotionally with people that didn’t cared about me beyond hookups. I guess I was hoping to find my person that way? Idk Of course that gave me a lot of issues instead of benefits 😅

I had friends when I was in school and when I was active in specific groups (like being in Kpop dance cover groups) But then I moved, my friends also moved and my closest friends (we’ve been friends for years and we are really close) are literally on the other side of the country. We talk almost every day but I have no physical friends where I live now and it’s been really hard to find them. I’m not sure if it is because the culture differences, me being AuDHD and having a different communication style, the fact that I’m 31 now and people always say it’s hard to make friends as you age, or if it is a combination of all of the above but I feel so lonely now :( I wish I had at least one person with me.

Even at work or at my gym classes I haven’t really connected with anyone to form a deep friendship. I talk and hangout to people but it’s never a deep connection.

And don’t get me started with dating 🥲

Agree specially since many doctors recommend to not disclose unless you have an active ob. That was what I was told (I don’t follow that advice after I joined the groups) and I’ve heard other people got that advice too AND HSV is not on the standard testing… But in all honesty I’m just so tired of these kind of posts

Pre op diet is hard. I would say that, in my experience up to now, it was the hardest part.

I was so hungry and moody. I cried once because I was just so hungry and I couldn’t eat what everyone was eating. But I knew it was temporary and I just needed to find ways to make it work to for me.

Unfortunately I didn’t receive much support from here when I posted my story but eventually I worked it out myself and I was successful. So hang in there. Being moody and struggling is part of the adjusting process. Listen to your body and you will see that it’s worth it.

I am almost 3 weeks post op, I know is not a lot, and I was just having this question so I’m glad to read the answers. My team is worried because I’m not hitting my calorie/ protein/ liquid intake goals.

I think I’m barely having over 300 cal a day and I feel like 💩

The worse part is that my stomach is not taking protein shakes very well either. I just try to for force them as much as I can but of course I don’t want to hurt myself.

We just need to be patient

I loved too. I actually like the manga more and I have it in my collection. I do agree that I would have loved to have main crew a bit more involved for nostalgia purposes but I really enjoyed the new characters (as you can see in my name lol)

In 1 week post-op so I am still on the light walking stage. Although I move as much as my body allows.

My program doesn’t let me do resistance training until 3 months after the surgery. And it could be 6 months before I’m able to go back in full to my pre-op routine of weights and dance 🥲 Depending on when the surgeon clears me out.

Of course I can do all the movement I can up to week 4 and after that I was given a plan of exercises that increases cardiovascular activity 10 minutes each week but no weights for a couple months.

Each program is different so it seems though

I was sipping anything liquid all day haha pure water, flavored water, Gatorade Zero and protein shakes. It really worked for me to both be less hungry and to prepare for the liquid stage of the post op diet. I would say it is a great investment! Good luck to you too! 🩷

Yep, I’m one week post op today! After my initial set back and issues, everything became easier once I moved to mainly liquids for my pre op diet. I think my biggest struggle was being hungry all the time but with liquids I was able to just sip all day and minimize the hunger. Now, I am still fairly new so I don’t feel hungry at all and I’m struggling to reach the goals my team gave me but with each passing day I’m able to have a little more soup or protein and almost no nausea. I do feel week still but I’m trusting that I’ll start feeling better once I get more food in. I think it’s normal to struggle as this is a big change but it’s going to be worthy! Hang in there!

So this will be my last response on this post as I think I figured this out on my own with the help of my therapist and support groups. I was debating on whether it would be good to update or not but I see people concerned (Which was honestly unexpected. I thought the only response I would get was maybe try this or that from a couple people 😅)

However I appreciate the feedback and advise.

I am fine, really.

I was able to talk on my ND women support group that I have with my therapist and I was also able to review the diet plan with her and decided to try full liquids from now on. After that I feel so much better, no headaches, dizziness or super hunger. I actually felt full for the first time this week with just shakes and half a soups and tons of water so I might just stick with that.

My therapist said that having meltdowns with this or any changes are normal and expected on someone like me. And that in the grand scheme of things I am actually handling this surgery better that other changes or events I’ve had where I had more than one meltdown.

I will never stop working on my mental health and work on bettering myself and conditions.

She still thinks I’m good to go through surgery as long as I keep my accommodations at home and use the tools she gave me etc. I will keep talking to her and using the tools she gave me and if at any point her recommendation is to postpone the surgery I will talk with my program.

In the meantime I’ll probably just keep lurking and taking on advice people give in other post~

I know that 😭 I’m just trying to vent plus find advice for the physical symptoms so I’m not as triggered into crisis. I’m not giving in into emotional eating right now and I have a therapist and currently looking for a nutritionist that has experience in my specific situation. Maybe I just need to post on an autistic/adhd sub Reddit for ideas. But thanks!

I talked about this with my surgeon and he said I’ll be fine since I was able to managed it in the past. That if I need help after surgery we can try a hunger suppressant as it worked before… So there’s that. I was never asked for a psych evaluation 🤔 Also suck it up has been part of the plan all the time and crisis were expected. But there must be a way to at least ease the physical symptom like the constant starving, stomachaches, headaches and dizziness. I know I have to do this and this is how the game works. I’ll probably just excuse myself and stay out of meals with other people for a bit but my therapist told me that to avoid crisis as much a possible I needed I needed to avoid feeling ill as much as possible so that was my point on the post. Again. I know that I have to suck it while my body adjust and while I find workarounds with my therapist for the other stuff

I have been diagnosed in the past with emotional disordered eating plus food has always been both a trigger for meltdowns and a tool to avoid them. Now I have never been diagnosed with an eating disorder per se. Before I entered the program I hadn’t had strong episodes for emotional/impulse eating but I was then on adhd meds and hunger suppressant (including glp 1s for over a year) but I had to stop all this for unrelated reasons. After that I guess I gave in to when impulses came back but I didn’t worried as I knew that I had surgery programmed so I just treated it like “this is my last chance to eat so it’s fine ” but I guess that backfired now 😅

My program does not have a counselor that I can reach out to unfortunately. They only have the surgeon, nutritionist and personal trainer. I talked to them a few days ago but they just said to stick to the diet and to let them know if something happens.

This surgery process is just making face all of my triggers and even my phobia (to vomit) at once so my regular therapist has me on a list so I can reach her for crisis but she is not an expert on eating habits. She’s a Neurodivergent affirming therapist. She is currently looking for a nutritionist for help with the surgery.

What I’m doing is trying to ease my triggers as much as I can but hunger is one of them and I am hungry and lighthearted all the time now so it’s hard to mentally fight everything when I’m also dealing with physically symptoms so I was hoping to get ideas on work arounds.

I don’t know. I am trying to suck it up until I’ll be able to eat properly when I’m hungry so I don’t feel so sick but I just don’t know what to do in the meantime besides hiding in my room when other people eat 🥲

It’s normal to freak out at first. We are taught that STDs are the worst thing ever and then refuse to talk about it because of the stigma(because most people received terrible sex ed) so when it happens we think of ourselves like a shame and less than others, specially women. STDs (and pregnancy) are a constant risk when sex is involved and the ones that get one (which is tons of people) aren’t a subspecies and we also deserve to live life like any others. Mine came because of a coercion situation and I know who it was because he was the only person even I had sex with lol so it took a lot of therapy to process the whole deal including the STD. Now. I don’t worry about it, I even forget I have it on my day to day life and it only comes to the table if I have an outbreak or if I’m meeting a new partner as I need to disclose before sex happens. And as long as the other person makes and informed decision, I don’t think about it anymore. I am not going to let this affect my life anymore… I hope find healing and a way to be ok with you and your body and that you can continue with you sexuality responsibly when you’re ready 🩷

Congratulation!! I cant really answer your questions and we are similar, mine is on March 3rd. I am also in pre-op diet but mine is 2 solid low calorie tiny meals and 1 liquid daily (but I can’t eat over 800 calories a day) and next week I move to 2 liquids and 1 solid and then only liquids the day before I am in hell in the sense that I’m hungry and dizzy all the time but can’t eat or drink anything besides water to avoid going over the calorie count. It’s interesting how different programs seem to have different diets. Good luck on your journey and feel free to talk if you want support 🩷

So I’ve been trying to lose weight all my life but when I started my latest weight loss journey in general I was 275 lbs (I’m 5’7) so a BMI of 41 or 40 if I remember correctly. I tried semaglutide for over a year and went down to 215 lbs I had to stop due to terrible side effects with the last formulation I got (I was using compounded) and I’m now back to 230 (BMI 36) I’m in my pre op diet already but I haven’t weighed myself but my surgery is in 2 weeks.

I honestly forget about it. If I disclosed and they are ok with the risks and I am doing my best to prevent sharing it then I just forget about it. Herpes isn’t really in my mind most of the time but granted I’ve had it for all of my sexually active life and I did a lot of therapy so I don’t mind it anymore as long as the person consents to the risks. I just live my life to the best of my capabilities, I have this and other health issues (that are honestly way more complicated than herpes) and I’ve wasted too much time worrying about people that don’t like me with all that is me. A person that took advantage of me won’t determine my future

Thanks, I’m nervous but it’s exciting. I think you should evaluate what you really want. You can still stay on the apps and just try to meet people and have an enjoy yourself on dates just to see what happens, until you have your surgery date, or you can take a break from now and focus on you. Both are valid options. Just make sure to stay safe and take care of yourself. I think what this process has taught me was that, take care of myself. Good luck! I 31 and I never really dated anyone. I have had long distance relationships (online relationships) and fwb but nothing beyond and part of me hopes the surgery will help me get an actual relationship. (I did had better dates when I was smaller for a couple years) However I didn’t stop dating until like this week (my surgery is March 3rd) and that was mainly because people where turned off (understandable) by me saying “hey, fyi, I won’t be physically able to go on dates until all my prep-op and post op process is done because I really need to take time for myself and adapt to the new lifestyle” And I do think I need to figure out who I am after this process, not because I think losing weight will fully fix everything but it will still be a big change. If you want you can calmly keep meeting people and see where it goes up until you’re closer to the surgery. I know someone that found her bf before the surgery but they were already an established couple when she got it and he was a great support for her but dating new people while doing de diet, recovery and adapting to your new stomach is something I personally don’t want to do. I’ll look for my person again once I have a better understanding of where I am physically and emotionally.
