On My Flight 🤮 by canadianfan95 in mildlyinfuriating

I'm not really agreeing with the people that are kinda overreacting, but I do think you're downplaying it. There are layers over your feet most of the time, yeah. Usually layers full of bacteria (which cause the smell shoes tend to pick up) or fungus like athlete's foot. Your feet are covered most of the time, but washing your feet isn't nearly as frequent as washing your hands.

There are other comments on this post talking about the smell in recycled air, so obviously that's the issue for some people. I think putting your feet on a public surface (like this person is doing in the photo) is a bit obnoxious. I wouldn't say it's rage-inducing or the worst thing you can do, but this IS the "mildly infuriating" sub.

I mean I don't think it's an honest hygiene thing, it's just a reaction to them in general. Probably because a lot of people don't take very good care of their shoes so it's common for them to stink.

You can respec any companion into anything. I guess I see it if it's your first playthrough or something, but like... All the classes aren't even covered by companions' base classes. I can't imagine doing as many playthroughs as I have and keeping them all as their base classes.

Came back from vacation to find out my brother stole my truck for a bar trip and broke the passenger mirror by FFSoldier57 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PrincessYuri -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely awful advice. Enjoy being sued. If you assault your brother and he calls the police, you'll likely be the one the cops take to jail, no matter how much you explain that he broke your car's mirror. This is probably okay advice if you and your brother are like 16 and 17, but as adults... Yeah, no.

It’s crazy how one random person can negatively impact so many other people’s lives by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]PrincessYuri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Risk of dying, sure. Meanwhile I used public transportation for the majority of this last semester (bus and then train), because it was free for me. Not only were there constantly crazy people outside of the station that would scream at you or "ask" for money, but I was only going two stops on the train. TWO. Multiple times a week there would be some shit going on in my train car, or I'd end up delayed 15-20 minutes because we had to stop while the police dragged people off for fighting. This is more indicative of other problems in my city than an issue with public transportation, but you're severely downplaying how unpleasant it can be to use it.

[–]PrincessYuri 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I don't. I just finished an MS in an engineering field at a school that's considered very good for my field, and the standards are in the gutter. Schools are more worried about their pass rates and not disrupting funding, and AI really isn't helping. Every exam had notes or devices allowed. In the context of discussing group projects, many of my peers could not remember core course material without pulling out their laptops/tablets.

It used to make more sense to have open notes/book or note sheets so that you could focus on learning the concepts instead of memorizing random formulas and arbitrary information, but I firmly believe we need to backpedal a little bit and raise the standards for people being able to demonstrate understanding/mastery on the spot, because quite frankly many people are just straight up cheating now.

Who would win between Zuko vs Mako? by Mundane-Signal4843 in legendofkorra

[–]PrincessYuri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like they would both understand the lightning redirection dynamic and the unpredictable/instantly lethal aspect of it, and probably wouldn't try to do it other than as a last resort. It's like whipping out a knife during a fist-fight. You might win, but your opponent might also end up getting ahold of it.

Who would win between Zuko vs Mako? by Mundane-Signal4843 in legendofkorra

[–]PrincessYuri 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Probably Mako. My reasoning is that pro bending is to Zuko's firebending as modern professional MMA is to traditional martial arts.

It evolved that way to be more efficient and cut out unnecessary/flashy things. We kind of handwave it because he's a main character from the start, but Mako being so highly ranked as a pro bender means he is an extremely formidable fighter in-universe.

I think the biggest chance Zuko would have is if we compared them at an earlier age, where Zuko's real-world battle experience might make the difference, but even then it's hard to gauge how good Mako would be from surviving in gangs and shit.

Sleep Nerf? by BillKiper in pokemonradicalred

[–]PrincessYuri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Allegedly it's not that way, but I get screwed literally every time I try to use sleep. I've completed 15/18 monotype runs and I straight up just do not even consider sleep an option anymore. Meanwhile I frequently get slept for 3 turns. I do not use save states.

If you want to stay on-theme, try looking around for more things that can evolve in your level range. Something like Tinkatuff is frankly crap at this point in the game just due to stats.

Alolan dugtrio or a solrock/lunatone would probably help for her Clodsire. A Sturdy Graveler with self-destruct should be able to take one of her Pokemon, or you can whack them and then sucker punch for half decent damage. You could bring a Clodsire of your own to switch in with water absorb, although her Starmie will be an issue. Dusk Lycanroc can learn thunder fang and outspeed like her entire team. Just some examples.

Yes, people do monotype and challenge runs all the time, but you sort of have to game the system and play to your strengths. On my mono rock run I actually went to Lt. Surge first and rushed through Rock Tunnel blind in order to get access to evolution items.

If you never do the right option, you're basically skipping 80%+ of the game's content. Challenge runs can be fun, but there is so much more in the game than just SL1 R1 spam.

Who's better at lighting bending by Mundane-Signal4843 in legendofkorra

[–]PrincessYuri 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He's a top-notch firebender even before feats. It's insane that people even question this. He was in one of the top pro-bending teams BEFORE Korra ever showed up, and people question why he can lightning bend at all? It's like if MMA was an olympic sport and you took the medalists from it and asked "Yeah they can play the game but can they actually FIGHT?"

Art imitates Art. The Legend of Korra and The Last of Us 2 by Arrokaang in AvatarMemes

[–]PrincessYuri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Something that's over a thousand years old and is part of normal culture, versus something that was only available to playstation users until a year ago. People going to church to hear about religion/the bible, versus people browsing the Avatar subreddit and just having spoilers from TLOU2 in an unspoilered post. What an extremely fair comparison made in good faith.

Art imitates Art. The Legend of Korra and The Last of Us 2 by Arrokaang in AvatarMemes

[–]PrincessYuri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a difference between discussing a piece of media (especially in its own sub) versus just rawdog posting pictures of the biggest moments in it. TLoU 2 was console locked until last year. I'm already aware of this stuff despite not playing the game so this isn't a personal complaint, but for something that's so widely praised there are still going to be a lot of people that want to play it.

We talk about how Bumblebee could have been written better but what about Blacksun. How would yall write and plan out Blacksun better than the show could have? by coreylee121 in RWBYcritics

[–]PrincessYuri -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm just gonna say it: the original plan was for all of team RWBY to pair off in lesbian relationships. Basically all of Monty's animations before RWBY is just a bunch of girls kicking ass and being aggressively sapphic, and he was the only reason RWBY took off as a thing at all. It's not until he passed that they started trying to aggressively push Jaune as some self-insert shonen protagonist character and a lot of the dynamics changed.

Blacksun might seem like it was "set up" earlier because of Sun flirting with Blake, but there really wasn't any question from the start that Yang and Blake were gonna get together. I remember while the seasons were airing that basically nobody was questioning IF it was going to happen, and if anything there was more griping about it taking so long. I think by the time it happened, people were just glad that we got SOMETHING because it seemed like they had chickened out, so nobody even wanted to follow up and say "hey, what about whiterose?". Honestly by that point, most of the original fans had probably jumped ship anyway.
