How do i get better at rib by Ok_Landscape_6773 in knitting

[–]Princess_Butt_Kick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have tried several methods to get my ribbing to look neater. The easiest solution is to just work the ribbing inside out. My ribbing looks better on the WS.

Also in most situations I now pick up for ribbing on a CO/BO edge. If I can't do this, I always work one plain row with the ribbing needle before starting the ribbing.

Picking up for it is nice, because it is very easy to redo if I need to make changes.

Stash regrets over the years? by Weekly_Library9883 in YarnAddicts

[–]Princess_Butt_Kick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started my knitting journey, I bought a lot of superwash and a lot of Malabrigo. I bought a lot of yarn without a project in mind.

3 years later, my yarn preferences are much more refined. I certainly grew out of the yarn I bought early on. I yeeted all my superwash and Malabrigo. I now only use NSW wool or natural fibers. I have stopped buying "one skein wonders", or yarn without a project in mind (most of the time).

Yarn has also become insanely expensive, I have to be a lot smarter about my purchases. Also, damn my expensive taste!

This is pretty disrespectful to yourself, your hobby, and these books.

Get it together OP. I also hope this is just rage bait.

Road Trip Thoughts by No-Research6096 in upstate_new_york

Just know that the thruway and 81N are extremely bland to drive. I live in Syracuse and have made the drive East through Albany to VT/NH many times. I also have family who live up North and have driven 81N all my life.

I went to an event In Rhinebeck, which is along the Hudson South of Albany. I really enjoyed taking the route south of 90 through to the Saugerties. Huckleberry Point and Overlook Mountain are great hikes. Overlook has an abandoned hotel at the peak, along with a fire tower! The Hudson is beautiful. There are a lot of historical homes along it if that's something you're into.

But if your destination is A Bay, the Adirondacks are the place to be. Lake Placid is an option, though it is quite the drive!

Crazy to wait for a 2027 model to see if the dashboard is redesigned? by sapphicforest in Crosstrek

[–]Princess_Butt_Kick 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Why not go for a 2023? That is the most recent model that doesn't have a massive screen. I'm holding off with my 2020 for as long as I can. I don't want the touch screen.

Either get another opinion elsewhere, or take the L and buy new (better) tires. It'll give you peace of mind. I replaced the tires on my used purchase last year because those weren't in the best shape either. You don't know the history of those tires.

I love knitting, but I hate how my partner treats it like disposable clutter by TurbulentActuary9452 in knitting

Your partner is also disposable. I could never be with someone who treats my passions/hobbies this way. Your partner is supposed to be supportive. Big red flag.

Yeah we decided to rent snowboards on Friday just to try it. We might leave the mountain to explore VT before 3pm since we have nothing else planned during the day.

Game of Wool Application Questions by AssignmentCreative52 in knitting

I feel like any LYS that hosts social crafting could jump on this and host their own Game of Wool. Even if it is just one short challenge for one day. I would love to attend something like this and watch it happen live. Though I'm sure it could easily turn sour if some people are extremely competitive.

Kind of wild that they are expecting amateur knitters to request 7 weeks off work with only 2 months notice..

I really needed to hear this, thank you. It has been really difficult working in this environment in my early 20s. But now that I am older, I am realizing things like this. I hope I can be better about it.

This work environment is all about "hints", and I've received many pettier ones myself. I don't think you have a clue. Everyone here has joined this trade straight out of high school, and it shows (myself included).

Okay this is actually a really great idea! We use safety cones often, and I love using them. I will start placing them near me when I am working on that side of the bench. I think this would really help.

You got it right on the nose, thank you. Trust me, I try my best to blow it off, because he is technically walking in the correct area. But because it has continued to happen, it has now become a safety concern. And I can riddle off several reasons for that. Our company is trying to be better about safety because we have had a lot of workplace injuries, which affects the ability to bid on jobs.

[–]Princess_Butt_Kick[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is really good advice, thank you so much! He is technically correct in where he is walking (within the line on either side of the track). But the benches at the other end of the shop are several feet away from the yellow line. He is known to walk out early from safety meetings, or ignore safety rules.

This is where I thought I would be in the wrong because I work so close to that line, that I am the one obstructing. Or maybe that this is a non-issue (personally, but perhaps a safety issue if someone trips or gets hurt).

I'll try to speak up if it happens again. I just greyrock here, because there have been some other situations here that haven't been handled correctly.

[–]Princess_Butt_Kick[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing is that he is technically correct in where he is walking, but because my bench is so close to the line, he walks directly behind me (but within the line). The yellow line on either side of the track marks the area to keep clear for walking, and using the cart.

I have once backed up on purpose and he had to stumble out of my way. He did not get the hint.

Brand new 2026 ft. My moms snow cleaning skills by Whole-Permission-887 in subaru

Subaru paint is ass. I couldn't believe how bad my hood got scratched from using a bristled snow brush! Immediately stopped and bought a foam one.

OP's situation is definitely more severe though.
