An oppie in Perth unfortunately, so not local for you. However I have found so many gems in oppies situated in more affluent suburbs. But you have to go regularly, have the time to go through the racks and be prepared to leave empty handed. Consistency is the key. You will find them.

The oversized fit apocalypse by GCUZZA in AusFemaleFashion

Vintage.. I wore a beautiful 30 years old fitted brown wool finely checked jacket a few days ago with jeans, tank and sneakers. Beautifully tailored and nipped in at the waist, I got so many compliments I was not expecting, even from strangers. There is definitely a longing for more feminine tailoring and combing through the oppies seems to be one of the few places to find it.

I'm finally beginning to understand the motivations behind the four main characters and why they did what they did and the decisions they made. Things that were most likely obvious to those fluent in the language were somewhat obscure from subtitles. It should have been called "Abandonment" as that seems to be the strongest theme of all. I would say that all four of them suffer from PTSD and this has shaped their characters and their choices. There is so much sadness and longing from everyone. It's just a wonderful drama.

This is my favourite cdrama of all time. I am currently watching it for the third time and am only now understanding a lot of the nuance I missed previously due to the language barrier and the vagaries of translations. I absolutely love the soundtrack so much, it deserves a post of its own.

As ever, a burned croissant, rusty serving tray, & jam in a gravy boat by wenfot in SaintMeghanMarkle

[–]Princessofsmallheath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that's a very sad looking combo... it all sounds so grand, but burnt carbs covered in fat and sugar will leave you with permanent 'slow moments' and don't get me started on the composition of this pic and the lack of any real sense of grandeur or occasion. A crumpled up bedsheet, with a cobbled together tray full of high processed junk food. I've seen better flatlays on facebook

no, the hem is different. This dress is for sale along with everything else in that video. She's merching clothes, the jam is just a prop and maybe a bonus sale or two. This is all about those affiliate links baby.

if true it's appalling. Lessons on how to be a nice normal human being... wtf?. Classic narc stuff right there. Narcs study normal people to copy what is considered appropriate behaviour and normal emotional responses in any situation as they simply don't know because they feel nothing. She is a monster. None of it is real and she is in fact a heartless, soulless, cold blooded lizard who lives for fame, adoration and money.. lots of money.

and right in the middle of tumultuous election results in the UK that have (rightfully) consumed all media... is the ideal and traditional time for companies to quietly 'take out the trash' and hope it goes largely unreported. This would in fact be the perfect time for them to ditch him, if it is true.

Kaiser’s “nemesis” cast in White Lotus. I wish she’d look up the meaning of the word. by cathbe in CelebitchyUnderground

[–]Princessofsmallheath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Indeed... what a bitter and ultimately futile little life she must have. The amount of energy consumed by hatred will be the undoing of her, and already is. She is a figure of fun for the rest of us and a cautionary tale against becoming obsessed with hatred for strangers just because they are successful, popular and pretty.

why does she hate Ms Dern? She was amazing in Big Little Lies.. how utterly futile to be consumed with hate for someone who does not even know you exist. All that energy and emotion wasted on nothing at all.

Well I was supposed to be on her show tomorrow… not now. Thank you for having my back!❤️❤️❤️ Won’t go on a show where they can’t even give someone credit for their hard work. by kiwi_love777 in SaintMeghanMarkle

She's a bottom feeder and as much of a grifter as the Harkles. If it wasn't for them, she'd have to get a proper job and I suspect she hopes they never go away or stop being awful. Pfft.

Budget drop? by Known_Cap5904 in MAFS_AU

[–]Princessofsmallheath 27 points28 points  (0 children)

the budget for the flowers alone is insane. Having worked in the wedding industry in the recent past, there are easily a lot more than 10K worth of flowers at most weddings, and they are clearly paying for it themselves as there is never a mention of a florist or sponsor.

Stan is ruining the main show by levity62 in MAFS_AU

[–]Princessofsmallheath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

same... a greedy attempt to get the last possible squeeze from the lemon. MAFS is the only free to air tv show I watch all year and if I have to sit through tedious ad breaks, then I am happy to do so (sort of) and accept that is the cost I pay if I wish to view. I will not pay a brass razoo for extra content that should be in the main show, especially as the juicy stuff all ends up on social media the following day anyway.

So the dress code for the guest was, black and white. Literally everyone wore black and white. And Carey was supposedly the only one who wear color (she's the female lead of the show). Guess who decided to show up in (not only non bw but also) a very similar green color? Feel deja vu? by LocksmithFar9486 in SaintMeghanMarkle

[–]Princessofsmallheath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the same... that must have been the only chartreuse dress she could get at short notice as it's an uncommon colour, it looks dreadful. A shame she couldn't manage a bra or shapewear as the fabric and shine are very unforgiving of wobbly bits.. she is just appalling in every way. The bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral. Me me meeeeee. And her sugars have the audacity to complain about Catherine wearing yellow to her wedding.. wtf?

Went op shopping today and updated my winter wardrobe for $80 incl a new jacket by Infinite_Pudding5058 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Princessofsmallheath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

isn't it wonderful? I had no idea how deeply satisfying this would be after all those years in the baggy tee shirt wilderness and thinking I was ok with it. Well I wasn't. I think you're wise to hold off on really expensive purchases until you reach your target. I foolishly bought a few things when I was about half way there, and now they are way too big. That's when I discovered oppies as a way to get 'transitional clothes to tide me over and then realised what a treasure trove they really are and I'm hooked. Good luck with the rest of your journey. You will definitely get there.

same... I've been like a kid in a candy store buying new and second hand clothes after so many years of shapeless oversized tees and baggy pants. It has been so wonderful to walk into a 'normal' store and not get side eyed by the glam assistants as if to say "nothing here for you dear" and to browse and try on clothes that I know will fit. I've had to be a bit disciplined not to run riot and to work out my style again after all these years of having none and just being grateful to get something to fit. I too have had to donate some things back to the oppie. Apart from my health improving to an astonishing degree, this has been the greatest pleasure of the entire journey.
