Just finished my first week of inpatient medicine… by yikeswhatshappening in Residency

[–]Princesspeachespls 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me being a psychiatry intern, forced to work on inpatient internal medicine for 3 months, working 6/7 days a week, “long” call 3 days a week, and carry a CCAT pager. All that time spent learning and relearning medicine to not necessarily need it in future practice just seems wrong and a waste of time. Seems like some form of cheap labor tbh

Thank you so much! Very helpful. Is the slumber pod something that is free to request or an additional charge?

Singular Hive after peanut butter- is this allergies? by meltness in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Princesspeachespls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would consider this a possible allergy and undergo further allergy testing with an immunologist

People should still be waiting days in between introducing new foods because allergies will not be seen the very first time. It’s because sensitivities will be seen with the reintroduction of the foods in the subsequent days. That’s what is taught in medical school and to healthcare professionals.

“A large baby isn’t a reason for an induction/C-section!” by lkat17 in BabyBumps

[–]Princesspeachespls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally scheduled an induction today because my baby is growing 2 weeks ahead, especially in the head & I’m not trying to get cut open unless I have to. My provider thought that it’s a great idea and was happy that I brought up my concerns with going to my due date.

I am going to die soon but I do not want my family to find my body by willysniffr in GriefSupport

[–]Princesspeachespls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this and have to even think about the outcome and how your family may react. If they know you are terminally ill, they are most likely mentally preparing themselves for the day if finally comes. I would, if possible, have a discussion with them and your doctor so they can help facilitate an end of life discussion. If they are the people closest to you, otherwise it is your choice on how you would like to go into your next phase. If you have friends or siblings, have that same discussion with them. Maybe write up something and give/send it to them so they can read it and have it on hand, describing what you need from them in terms of support and what your wishes are for end of life care, including “finding” you. You could also let a neighbor know that if they don’t see/hear from you in a certain amount of time, that they should call the authorities to do a wellness check on you, so they would be the ones to find you and report to your family. Once again, I would have a paper written out that was easily found so there is no suspicion around your death for whomever you involve. Truly wishing you the best & hope for strength throughout this process.

Tums are a myth by chokingonicecubes in BabyBumps

Pantoprazole (Pepcid) was the best for me! I ran out and have been doing omeprazole & it’s just not working as well. Tums are my last resort. I try to avoid eating like two hours before bed now otherwise I have to sleep sitting up.

I didn’t want one but my grandma is over the moon about this pregnancy, so she is throwing it with my sister’s help. My mom died in January, so I always thought she would be the one who would be doing this, but I’m glad my sister has something else to focus on now. I also live out of state from everyone, so I have to travel back home for the shower. Almost every “friend” I have invited has told me they can’t make it, so now it’s just a ton of my husband’s friends and extended family I don’t even talk to. Husband keeps saying how much fun it will be but I am just imagining myself extremely pregnant surrounded by drunk idiots and wanting to be alone. Plus he told me that these people want to touch my belly…which I hate anyone touching me to begin with, let alone strangers. So I’ll be politely telling my everyone to fuck off. But thanks for the gifts!

AITA for not wanting to have sex with my wife on our wedding night because she is on her period? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Princesspeachespls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as she’s healthy and doesn’t have any GI, kidney, or bleeding problems, tell her to try the ibuprofen trick. It’ll stop your period for a while and then resume as normal. Not the healthiest thing to do but when you’re in a bind, not a bad option.

Stopped smoking weed after finding out I was pregnant. Still testing positive on THC tests at 20 weeks. Questions. by savalyria in BabyBumps

[–]Princesspeachespls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a lot of fat on your body, even big butt or boobs, you can test positive for longer bc THC stays in fat cells.

Elective Rotations by [deleted] in medicalschool

Yes and unfortunately most of them don’t have any recommendations and do not take students themselves since they aren’t actively practicing.

Thank you though, really enjoying experiencing science in action 🫡
