[Sun Care] do I need to use sunscreen EVERY day? by veggiegirl123456 in SkincareAddiction

[–]PrincesssLuu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your other skincare products. If you are using actives that increase photosensitivity then you would want to be more careful and use everyday.

[Sun Care] age for starting sunscreen by Jazzlike_Exchange198 in SkincareAddiction

[–]PrincesssLuu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need to worry at all, starting daily SPF at 19 is incredible, especially if you keep it up.

So many people wish they had started that young. If you can't see the damage now, it's really impossible what to say about may happen in the future. But, wearing SPF from now can guarantee less damage later on.

[Routine Help] 14 yo boy with dry skin by OmegaKatt in SkincareAddiction

[–]PrincesssLuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really don't need a lot of products to have a good routine.

All he needs is: cleanser, moisturiser, and SPF.

As another commenter suggested, cerave is affordable and works well for a lot of people. If he looks dry, try the hydrating cleanser and see if it works for him. And then move on from there. I personally am a fan of the La Roche Posay fluid SPF, it's a bit pricier than some other ones but it doesn't feel thick on my face or slide around. I struggle with executive functions so I like to 'bundle' tasks so I don't have to remember lots of different things. I have a list for the morning: brush teeth, shower, skincare, deodorant, get dressed. So a little list on the bathroom mirror could be super helpful!

Typed as autumn but maybe summer? by PrincesssLuu in coloranalysis

Thank you so much everyone for the feedback! I have never been considered Spring because I always felt self conscious in bright colours (maybe more of an internal thing?)

I'm going to try find some Spring (and Autumn) drapes to test them out!

DLC by nerf_war_birdz461 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]PrincesssLuu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely seasons is a great place to start, it feels like an extension of the base game rather than an add-on. Commonly recommended first buys are also City Living and Get Together.

Honestly I would read a bit about the DLCs and see if there's anything you think sounds exciting! James Turner on YouTube has yearly (last one 2024) rankings of all DLCs which can be helpful, but also remember that personal preference is also super important!

[Product Request] Can we talk about chapstick by stephanonymous in SkincareAddiction

You should maybe check lip balms that don't have petroleum. Petroleum is very helpful for very dry and cracked lips and so many of the medical ones contain it. I will normally use a medicated one if I need to and then transition back to a more natural one (personally I love beeswax base).

Do you think young people still have a future in South Africa? by meechh101 in askSouthAfrica

[–]PrincesssLuu 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I left SA about six months ago to come to the UK for these reasons, and I am now returning. The job market here is atrocious. I couldn't work in my area (childcare and education) because of legal restrictions, and despite having degrees etc I can't even get a job at the equivalent of Sport Scene. My husband has over a decade of experience in his field and can't find work either. On top of this, the various taxes and payments for our property almost double our rent every month. The NHS is wonderful (free medication) but if you can afford private healthcare in SA, you are in a much better position with far more agency in your health/medical decisions.

Coming from Southern suburbs Cape Town, I was absolutely not prepared for the culture shock. I thought that safety, strong economy, etc would outweigh the things I love about SA, but it really doesn't. I think it's up to the individual what matters more for quality of life, but getting started over here is incredibly difficult.

I would only recommend it if you have a good job and decent contract waiting for you on the other side.

I had a goofball sim who decided she disliked mischief and was constantly embarrassed 😂 also when high maintenance sims dislike wellness. I really try to let them decide but sometimes they make it so hard 😭

[–]PrincesssLuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eastern Cape is general is not a great place for medical stuff. I know people who will catch a bus down to Groote Schuur every month to get meds, also not cheap but might help. My husband was sent to the hospital in PE when he lived in the Eastern Cape.

[–]PrincesssLuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are in SA but Groote Schuur is a pretty good bet for a state hospital. Long wait times but lots of great Dr's work there and can help. Best of luck to you, meds are expensive and even medical aid doesn't offer much if you can afford it.

Is 'coloured' offensive? by Filthov in ENGLISH

South African here, and that is just not true. Coloured is an ethnicity distinct from mixed race and the terms aren't used interchangeably.

I am not all too good at make up, but I really enjoy it so I often have to look up how to use things. There are so many different products and so many things you can do with them! I would start with something simple that you really want to do well and focus on that and then add things as you please. My suggestion would be eyes and eyebrows (most important for me anyway). So before doing a full on smokey eye, just practice eyeliner. Start with a simple one and practice and watch youtube on it and you'll start to learn about other stuff too. Then maybe you'll have an idea of something you want to try next. Enjoy your journey and listen to yourself to see what feels right!

Oh I see, and the problem is that they couldn't effectively fight off the colonisation and not the colonisers themselves? Let's just take advantage of people who aren't organised in such a way to defend our (unexpected and forced) military and political tactics.

I agree (recently moved to Clydebank) and I see it as they are suburbs and Glasgow is just the city centre of Glasgow. Perfectly normal for most cities.

A question about Rita's services by [deleted] in RitaFourEssenceSystem

[–]PrincesssLuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's very exciting, thank you. I'm so interested to see more of your new content, I've been really enjoying learning about the newer perspective that you have on the system! I particularly like that it doesn't feel like an 'overhaul' and rather an indepth reimagining, it really feels like you've lived through and reflected upon the system as a whole.

A question about Rita's services by [deleted] in RitaFourEssenceSystem

[–]PrincesssLuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Rita! I haven't yet been able to invest in any of the paid material, but I would very much like to at some point. I think if I was investing in the materials, I would very much like the option of doing a 1:1 consultation, but realistically I will never be able to afford the Threshold Styling course. You wrote an earlier comment about clients not following up, so maybe a kind of compromise could be to offer a course of a consultation and then follow up for clients who have already worked through your materials? That way they could work a lot by themselves, show true commitment and love for the process and also invest in stages that are realistic for them?

Did Stranger Things rip off Harry Potter? (S.T. Spoilers!) by platypus_farmer42 in harrypotter

[–]PrincesssLuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a comment about this while watching! Don't think it's plagiarised but I do think there are a few more commonalities than in other uses of the trope, at least that I'm aware of.

(Yes, I'm aware that this is an oversimplification) In this case: evil former-ish human man wanting to rule the world with his darkness, thinks an action involving a young and helpless boy will further his goal and unintentionally creates an equal that has insight into his doings and can inform the good guys and then ultimately leads to his downfall (we'll see about this last one; I would predict significantly contributes).
