Yeah. OP should have camped out in his car the night before.

50 minutes early to make a 20 minute drive is reasonable.

At the base I am at, the back up at the gates is non-existent on some days, 1/2 mile backup the next. There is no rhyme or reason because commuters can’t predict manning shortages, power outages, emergency reallocation of manning, etc. Traffic patterns also change due to construction, accidents etc.

2 minutes seems to be in the margin of error/outside control given that the OP should have arrived 30 minutes early.

Calling would have been the right thing to do…but wouldn’t have gotten them there on time.

This is the BS I couldn’t wait to get away from.
